On 24th September 2013, the loan syndications and fixed income industries came together at Bonds & Loans Mexico to discuss the latest
developments in the Mexican structured finance and debt capital markets, and to assess the current trends in global credit markets.
Key highlights from the conference included:
Over 330 senior-level decision-makers
In 1 day, over 330 senior-level decision-makers representing
187 companies particpated at Bonds & Loans Mexico, sharing
experiences to seek solutions to challenges they face in the
current market, and to set up business meetings. Both the
conference and exhibition halls were full at all times, with 1-to1 meetings taking place all over the hotel. With circa 50% of
the audience comprising of corporate issuers and institutional
investors, attendees were able to conduct real business
onsite.

Keynotes and case study presentations from Ministry of
Finance & Public Credit, America Movil, PEMEX and CEMEX
Ricardo Rivera (America Movil) and Alejandro Diaz de Leon
(Ministry of Finance & Public Credit, United Mexican States)
opened the conference to a packed conference hall; Rodolfo
Campos Villegas (PEMEX) and Jose Antonio Gonzalez (CEMEX)
made presentations later in the day. Each provided their
company’s perspectives on how they approach both the bond
and loan markets, with the Ministry of Finance & Public Credit
giving an insight into the future of the economy, and PEMEX
providing insights into the future of Mexico’s oil and gas, and
electricity sectors.
Unique investor perspectives from global and Mexican
investors
Denise Simon (Lazard Asset Management), Robert Rauch
(Gramercy) and Jack Deino (Invesco) gave their assessments
on Mexican Investment opportunities, as compared to
opportunities open to them in other emerging markets. Arturo Hanono (Afore Invercap), Rodrigo NúñLopez (Afore XXI
Banorte), Roman Toledo (MetLife Mexico), Luis M. Cardenas
and Jorge Unda Rodriguez (BBVA Asset Management)
provided an explanation of what local Mexican investors are
wanting to see in fixed income investments.
