2015 Shillelagh Project
Proceeds from this year’s Shillelagh Golf Tournament will help to fund advancements in wireless
technology that will operate throughout all Barber
National Institute Erie group homes. The system will
include the installation of a wireless infrastructure in
49 group homes as well as new computer hardware
and software to enhance the quality and continuity
of care for more than 200 adult residents.
Currently, all information is recorded by
hand in logs that often
exceed hundreds of
pages and must travel
with each resident as
they go from their
residential homes to
day programs or medical appointments.
The new system will
enable staff to share
important information about medical issues or behavioral challenges in real time to more effectively
respond to the needs of the adults.
The estimated cost of the project is $240,000.

Man of the Year
Congratulations to
Robert Marz, who will
be honored as the Shillelagh Man of the Year at
this year’s tournament.
Robert is president of
Roth Marz Partnership, a
full service architectural
firm with offices in Erie
and Allentown. An Erie
native, Robert attended
Cathedral Prep High School and Penn State University School of Arts and Architecture.
Some of RMP’s projects include Erie Intermodal
Transportation Building, East High School, Ross
Hall at Edinboro University and Southeastern Veterans Community Living Center near Philadelphia,
PA. Robert is also very active in the community as
a member of several non-profit boards.
A long-time supporter of the Barber National Institute, Robert has provided architectural direction for the Barber Beast on the Bay since its inception three years ago.
Robert and his wife, Gerrie, have four children, a
son-in-law, two daughters-in-law, a soon to be
daughter-in-law and five grandchildren.
