In the 1860’s William Henry Penhaligon left his native Penzance on the picturesque south west
coast of England and came to London to establish himself as a perfumer. His shop was in
Jermyn Street in an area of London then, as now, the hub of exclusivity, elegance and luxury.
William Penhaligon secured his reputation by creating scents for the nobility. Blenheim
Bouquet, the name recalling the home of the Dukes of Marlborough, was to become a
particular favourite of a distinguished scion of the family, Sir Winston Churchill. By the end of
Queen Victoria’s reign, William Penhaligon had been appointed Perfumer to the Royal Court.
Penhaligon’s has gathered ingredients from all over the world to create products that are
