As your president, I am thrilled to announce that
Karen Martin is our new Corral 118 Secretary! Karen
graciously volunteered to fill this vacancy at our Year
End 2013 Simi Valley Awards banquet on February
16th.
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the
banquet so I didn't have the opportunity to
personally welcome and introduce Karen as our new
secretary. Thank you Lorraine Biederman, for
stepping in my stead to introduce Karen to everyone
at the event. Let me "go on the record" now as
saying enthusiastically, "WELCOME KAREN!" And
thank you on behalf of myself and our membership,
for accepting this vital role for the corral.

Lorraine Biederman, you are a treasure! Lorraine gamely stepped in for me at the
banquet and, along with "Dan the Man" Mayer, kept everything on schedule. Thank you!
Terry Simon, Stacie Wight, Barbara Black , Lynne Tepper, Chris Mayer and Lorraine
Biederman worked hard to make the banquet the rousing success and fun party it was.

Sadly for us at Corral 118, we lose Stacie Wight as our points and awards person. Stacie
is extraordinarily busy with her adorable son, Blake, as well as pursuing her career. Thank
you Stacie, for all you have done for our corral and E.T.I. National. We will miss you terribly
and hope to see you at the 2014 horse shows.
We still don't have a Newsletter Editor and Web Master. Terri Meadows has retired
from these two spots and we need to find her replacement[s] asap! Please contact me if
you are interested in either or both of these two positions.
Fun changes are in the works for our 2014 horse shows. I can't wait to see everyone at
our first one on April 6th. Until then, get out there and enjoy your horses and each other!

CORRAL 118 ANNUAL
SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
The annual Corral 118 Sportsmanship
Award recipient is selected by the Board of
Directors. It is an acknowledgement of the
dedication and service of an outstanding member
of our corral.
Our 2013 Sportsmanship award is
presented to a member who has supported
Corral 118 for several years by participating in the
Simi Valley Awards Circuit as an exhibitor as well
as a volunteer. Additionally, this dedicated
volunteer made our jumping classes possible by
designing courses and setting jumps. Even more
impressive is the fact she organized a jumping
clinic, promoted it to her friends and clients, and
hired an amazing trainer to conduct the clinic.
This wonderful young woman experienced an
unspeakable personal tragedy in the midst of
planning the clinic. Through her devastating loss,
this volunteer continued to organize the jumping
clinic, putting her grief on hold. Truly, she went
well beyond the call to make sure this crucial
fundraiser was a success. In large part, the "All
Around Super Horses" awards were made
possible by the success of the jumping clinic.
This year’s Sportsmanship Award
recipient been an inspiration and example to all
of us. We gratefully acknowledge KIRBY VANDER
HORCK by presenting her with the SVAC 2013
Sportsmanship Award.
