“We had a very senior-laden team this year and their leadership
showed as the team steadily improved all season. We will lose all of
those great seniors, many of whom have run for four years, and that
will really hurt us next year. We have the potential to be just as strong
if not more competitive next year. We certainly need those who
contributed so much this year to work hard up all year to be ready to
go right away in August. Missing sectionals by just three points will
hopefully keep everyone on the team hungry.”

A Dangerous Game
Griffin Theatre opens season with
production of Arsenic & Old Lace
Officer O’Hara (Dorian Rozanski) is
distracted while Dr. Einstien (John
Chibnall) and Jonathan Brewster
(Luca Torreta) attempt to leave.
Play Synopsis
The play is the story of the eccentric Brewster family of
Brooklyn, N.Y. In addition to the scheming old women
who poison their victims with elderberry wine, the
family includes Teddy, who suffers delusions that he is
Theodore Roosevelt and that the Panama Canal runs
through the cellar of his home. The locks he digs become
convenient graves for the lonely men who fall victims to
Aunt Martha and Aunt Abby’s machinations.
When their nephew Mortimer discovers a body under
the window seat of his aunts’ home, however, the elderly
women ‘fess up to their deeds matter-of-factly and the
events of the play become more absurd right up to a
surprise ending.
(Above) Officer Brophy (Mitch Wise) and Officer Kline (Nicky Hart)

Young Mock Trial team improves throughout the year
What was the Case?
SHAPIRO V. BLACKSTONE INSURANCE GROUP
The case was set in a small town in rural
Missouri. Big Tony’s BBQ Restaurant, owned
by Tony Shapiro, burned and was completely
destroyed. Tony Shapiro claims that an
intruder charged into the restaurant after
hours and demanded money from the
register. In the ensuing struggle, Tony claims
that the restaurant burned down. Tony filed a
claim with his insurance company, Blackstone
Insurance Group, or B.I.G. B.I.G. denied the
claim, stating essentially that it believes the
fire was set by Tony. They claim that when a
local automobile plant closed the restaurant
lost a significant amount of business, and
Tony burned the restaurant down to claim the
