BKF is characterized by an open and pleasant
atmosphere, a strong focus on performance
and competition supported by cutting-edge
infrastructure on solid foundations. The
other fundamental value at BKF lies in
the practical nature of our programs,
transmitting theoretical knowledge with
a view to its potential methods of application
and hands-on experience.
We measure success and efficiency by the
strict standards of the labor market. Our
close cooperation with all stakeholders in our
environment and at companies, community
institutions and professional organizations
guides us in training a continuous flow of
socially responsible professionals who are ready
to meet the challenges of the labor market with
a visible potential for excellent performance.
”Hungary was recommended to me by my best friend, so actually
I just had to choose the right University. However, I must admit I have
made a lot of research about the Hungarian history and found it very
rich and amazing. There are so many historic places to go and many
things to do. When I was searching for Communication programs in
Budapest, BKF was the first result. I became particularly interested
in this University, because BKF focuses on teaching practical knowledge
and I have the opportunity to practice the acquired methods and
techniques on real-life issues. One of my primary reasons to study
here is, that BKF degrees are recognized in all EU countries and the
University has a lot of patners around the world. During seminars we
study in small groups, so I feel that instructors can focus on teaching
us individually and can really mentor us. They can find out in which
fields we are more talented and focus on how to make us the best.”
BKF University of Applied Sciences, Budapest
has become an integral part of the Hungarian
higher education scene since its start in
2001. With a constantly growing number of
students, education venues and campuses,
and a diverse range of programs, today BKF
is one of the most dynamic private higher
education institutions in Hungary present with
4 campuses in two cities and with a massive
student community of 8,000 enthusiastic young
people. BKF offers complex educational degree
programs at bachelor and master level as well
as post-graduate specialist training programs
built on the bachelor programs in the field of
communication, business, tourism and arts.
Ahmad Al-Rabayah
student of our Communication and Media BA Program
from Jordan
Constant development and success are values
that require hard work. We are ready to face
competition and we expect our students to
follow suit. If you wish to become a member of

We look forward to welcoming you among us.

THE RECTOR WELCOMES YOU
We are inspired by creativity. The art of
creative education is the core value
of our institution. We offer a stimulating
environment and a unique atmosphere that
motivate our students to make use of a wide
range of unparalleled opportunities and apply
their knowledge in practice, looking for new,
innovative solutions. This inspiring world
offers the key to creative thinking, which is
the most immediate expectation in today’s
labour market.
WHAT STUDENTS SAY ABOUT US
What students
say about us
”I initially came to BKF for my undergraduate degree in Business
Administration and Management. After an eventful 3 and half years
and a successful finish of my Bachelors, my experience here prompted
me to come back and study for my Masters program in Management
and Leadership. Coupled with the fact that BKF has quite a reputation
in the media for being one of the best private universities in Hungary,
the school has paved the way to produce world class sportsmen, media
personnels and marketing communication professionals. The friendly
environment, attentive yet professional teachers, top academic classes
and activities on offer have made it easier to decide to continue my
studies here. BKF is truly any student’s doorway to the continent and
the world at large, with offers to study abroad within the European
borders through the ESN program or worldwide via AISEC. The school
continuously thrives to improve itself and put the student’s needs first.
Similarly to me, I hope many students will come and be inspired by
creativity.”
“I came to BKF with the prospect
of improving my English language
skills but was provided with
the opportunity to learn about
my own ethnicity and explore my
identity. I can now brand myself
as a true professional who is more
confident, independent and willing
to embrace change. I also chose
BKF because of my ambition to
achieve excellence in performance
and to receive quality education at
an affordable price.”

“BKF has lived up to my dreams of it. I knew
from the very beginning that this school would
challenge me to my limits - classes are as hard
as they should be but not impossible by any
means! BKF has really changed my view of
people and my views on higher education in
general. I have met many interesting fellow
students and I developed so many friendships
during my stay. The first thing I would like to
say about the teachers is that they are very
professional at their jobs. Besides this, they are
helpful, intelligent, funny and warm. As long as
you come to BKF with an open mind, there are
many positive and rewarding experiences that
you will go through. And Budapest is awesome!
It’s really hard to make bad comments about
it: as a bridge between Eastern and Western
Europe, it’s a perfect location to discover
this diverse region and get acquainted with
different cultures.”

”Here I found friendly and constructive atmosphere. I really enjoyed
that during lessons you can express your own opinions without prejudgment, there is nothing like right or wrong answers. Even when my
instructor had different point of view, it never affected the evaluation
of my works. The instructors are really helpful and build special
relationships with students and in my opinion that’s really important,
especially amongst international students. I love Hungary, as customs
and the way of life is very different from my own culture.”
Zhu Di
student of our Graphic Design BA Program
from China
”I chose Budapest for my studies because it is much more affordable than many other European
countries and the quality of higher education is renown throughout the world. This city has many
things to offer to all different kinds of people and it is very easy to fit in because Hungarians are
extremely welcoming and friendly with foreigners. Another tempting argument for Hungary is
public safety. According to the European Crime and Safety Survey, Hungary is one of the safest
countries in Europe.”

“When I entered BKF the first time on an open
day I immediately felt that this was something
completely different from what they then called
higher education. At BKF I had the unparalleled
opportunity to immerse myself in areas of
digital communication that no other school
could offer its students. The other fantastic
thing about this University was that I acquired
an excellent professional grounding which
helped me start my career during my second
year. For me BKF has proved to be the best
choice for finding a job in the communications
market.”
”I chose Budapest, as it is one
of the most beautiful cities in
Europe with its rich historical
culture and wonders of nature.
You will never find yourself alone
or get lost becuase of the famous
hospitality of people living here.
You will always find your desired
companion amongst such openminded and friendly students here
at BKF. From the very beginning of
my studies I have met great, highqualified instructors and helpful
staff. I knew where to turn to in
case of any problems, which was
a huge relief for me as a foreign
student. I think joining BKF could
be the best choice of your life.”
“Hands-on experience and
academic knowledge, a network
of contacts and the security of a
home – this is the essence of my
relationship to BKF. Becoming
part of the University was a truly
incredible experience because
in many respects BKF played a
pioneering role in Hungarian higher
education. The other day I had to
make a report for Kossuth Radio
and of course I went right back to
the school. Some of the teachers
turned out to be my colleagues,
since during my study years I had
a job at the radio. Before my studies
at BKF I had already started my
career at the radio but in order
to make headway I needed a top
school to acquire the necessary
theoretical framework. And here
I got just what I was looking for.”

WHAT STUDENTS SAY ABOUT US
“As an Erasmus student at BKF, I found that
there is no shortage of opportunities, whether
academic, cultural, or social. I think everyone
will be able to find what he or she requires to
succeed, in and out of school. I was able to utilize
the courses from BKF in my further studies and
overall, I would consider my education at BKF
to be an outstanding experience. What I valued
most is that professors are highly influential and
focus on practical perspectives. I also enjoyed
staying in a country with a great history.
Hungary has so much to offer: engaging cities,
a lot of cultural attractions, exceptional people!
The beauty of Budapest is that everything is
within your grasp. It’s a dynamic city - there is
something for everyone… so much diversity.
I am proud of my experience at this competitive
and highly challenging university. If you are
actively participating, you will gain much more
from this school, than if you sit back and simply
absorb what is going on around you.”
DÁNIEL GYURTA
World and European Champion swimmer, Olympic gold medallist
Business and Administration Management Program, BKF
“As a first-class sportsman, I ran into severe difficulties upon leaving
secondary school. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I wanted
to continue my studies. The only question was which institution to
choose. After considerable discussion, and having collected loads of
information, I finally found my way to BKF, a decision I have never regretted. My univeristy provides full support in building my sports career,
both when it comes to my studies and when I need networking. The
knowledge and skills that I have gained here have proven extremely
useful for me in all areas of my life, let alone all the acquaintances
and friends I have made during my university years. Lately, I have been
also considering the idea to continue my studies at a master program
after graduation.”

“Since my brother’s choice of school turned out
to be the right one, I did not have to face the
difficult decision regarding my future education.
Though BKF’s requirements are high, it has
already become evident that the knowledge
I gain here will definitely be of immense help for
me in the future. I have also realized that when
I need to organize my everyday life outside
the swimming pool, by instinct I make use
of the skills I have acquired at BKF.”
“I am extremely grateful to BKF for giving me
the opportunity to continue my studies and my
sports career at the same time. Sometimes it
is really hard to be a sportswoman, especially
when you have to stand your ground both at
school and at trainings and competitions as
well. Providing an individual study schedule,
the BKF gives me invaluable help to reach my
goals in the two most important areas of my
life. Still, I am most thankful for having met
three special persons who have turned out to
be true friends, and we know that wherever
we are, we will always remain connected by
friendship and BKF.”

Did you know that 10 of the world’s most
wanted professions did not even exist six
years ago?
Do you know what the job market will be
like after graduation?
We are aware that we have to prepare you
for a constantly changing world. We equip
you with the knowledge and skills with the
help of which you will be able to adapt to
the challenges of the profession you want.
Because it is possible to develop creative
thinking. Therefore, in addition to the
fundamental professional knowledge, we
place the greatest emphasis on developing
your creative thinking and communication
skills.
ON CREATIVE THINKING
If you want to be efficient and productive in
your life, your job or at a given task, you need
a lot of things, for instance knowledge, practice
and stamina, but above all, creative thinking.
Without that, you only keep on repeating
patterns, and thinking gives way to routine.
Change cannot take place without creativity.
This has become our most important tool.
Today anyone can have access to an infinite
source of information all around the world. But
what makes a successful and productive person
is the way you use information. Creativity is the
ability to create, to produce something new and
valuable that has not been there before. Too
many people feel that they are not capable of
creating anything because they do not have
that specific talent. But this is not true. Why?
10
CREATIVITY AT BKF
You can learn how to have creative ideas.
Anyone can acquire, use and improve their
creative skill through practice. In that we can
be of some help. How?
Our first-year students join our skill development
program right at the start of the first semester.
Getting involved in playful games with the
aim of community building, they immediately
understand the importance of creative thinking.
Our major skills development program is the
unrivalled training system in which each student
takes part every term. Through our supportive
learning environment, you can develop your
skills and creativity in various fields. We teach
you how to keep on searching for solutions and
dare to make mistakes while figuring them out.
During the semesters students gradually learn
to think the creative way through specific skillsdeveloping subjects such as Creative Writing,
Artistic Communication, Advertising Planning,
Games Animation or Creative Drawing, which
ignores the classic framework of traditional
drawing classes. Our teaching methods support
skill development, for example the project
method allows students to gain practical
knowledge about the class topics by processing
them in groups and to learn to perform well
as team-players.
DO YOU HAVE A GOOD IDEA?
BKF AWARDS CREATIVITY
You can compete for the BKF Creative Grant if
you are an undergradute student of any study
program. The grant supports and rewards the
most exciting and creative ideas, which are
constructive and useful for the BKF community.
In 2014 five students were awarded in topics
such as the ’Prezi study group’ or the ’be more
open-minded, be more international’ initiative.
The winners received a grant covering their full
tuition fee for two semseters.
DREAM BIG! WE HELP YOU TO
REALIZE YOUR PLAN
The BKF StartUp Program awards innovative
project plans by students that also create
values. The winners are granted a maximum
of HUF 1 million per project allocated for the
implementation of the plan. In 2014 such
creative ideas were awarded as the Nemundir
online role playing game or the establishment
of Réka Gottlieb’s own fashion label.
Unique training system
EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AND
CREATIVE THINKING ARE BOTH LEARNABLE,
IMPROVABLE SKILLS.
One of the most effective method to develop excellent communication skills and
creative thinking is training. Our major
skills development program is an unrivalled
training system in which each student takes
part every term. The training exercises, the
personal contact and the intensive community experience encourage our students to learn to see things in a different
perspective.
The training focuses on practical learning, the
students can learn and develop the necessary
skills and techniques to communicate, present
and negotiate effectively during the situational
games, group exercises or individual tasks.
OUR TUTORS AND INSTRUCTORS:
Psychologists, sociologists, economists, journalists, speech therapists as well as other
specially trained and experienced professionals encourage the participiants to process the
specific topics in an active, playful manner.
UNIQUE TRAINING SYSTEM

witness their success on the job market.”
Szilvia Major

I have learnt the right methods to deal with
the attention and I believe I will be a much
more confident speaker even when I go to job
interviews.”
Gergely Takács

Marketing is essential in every aspects of
life – we are surrounded by brands which
influence our decisions, and in certain
situations we can only succeed if we learn
how to sell our personal brand.
Economist in Commerce and Marketing
“If your interests are not confined to the strict
world of numbers or economics itself but you
also feel the need to look behind the façade
to identify and comprehend deeper underlying
processes, I can wholeheartedly recommend the
Commerce and Marketing program. In addition
to mastering the tricks of marketing planning,
at BKF you will also learn how to present and
communicate it in the most effective way.”
Dr. habil Papp-Váry PhD,
Head of the Institute of Marketing
“Most people have no idea of what they buy or
why they do what they do. I used to have the
same problem but since I have been studying
marketing, sociology and economics at BKF,
I have improved a lot. And it has become
very clear to me that I will be able to use that
knowledge not only in my work but also in
real life.”
Gergő Papp,
second-year student of the Commerce and
Marketing BA Program
“Employers expect us to train
graduates who are able to adapt
very quickly and who have the
right skills and knowledge to meet
the challenges of their respective
jobs. Recruiters also highlight
the importance of fluent second
language competencies and
effective communication skills for
those seeking a business career.
Thus, we keep a sharp focus on
both skills at our program fostering
commerce and media students to
study part of their professional
classes in a foreign language.
Furthermore, they can also improve
their knowledge at a host of foreign
universities due to the extensive
network of partner institutions of
BKF. During my studies I also had my
share of exposure to international
learning experiences at foreign
higher education institutions and
I believe that BKF has everything
individual students need to acquire
rich business knowledge and skills
besides becoming part of a truly
amazing community.”

TOURISM AND CATERING
Tourism
and Catering
BA Program
Budapest is the buzzing capital of Hungary
and one of the most popular tourism
destinations in Europe. Consequently,
tourism and catering is one of the most
popular degree programs in Hungary as
well as in Budapest. This is also due to
the colourful, diverse nature and humancentred view of tourism. The Bachelor
of Tourism and Catering Program offers
thorough grounding in all important
subjects and topics in tourism and
catering. What makes the program really
unique is the host of specializations
available for students including Health
and Wellness Tourism Management, MICE
Tourism Management and Destination
Management drawing heavily on the
rich experience that the local tourism
industry gained with Hungary having a
world renowned reputation due to its
rich thermal healing water assets or its
number one position in the international
dental tourism. Furthermore, we place
emphasis on the development of practical
skills, therefore our students will have
the opportunity for example to challenge
themselves in professional competitions,
attend workshops, or take part in hotel
visits.
“The essence of tourism lies in what it gives
people in exchange of their time and money.
And what are you left with in the end? Nothing
much, except a memory. And the most
important part of memories is the experience.
Staying in a nice hotel room during your holiday
does not make a nice memory. What we teach
is how to create and give tourists a memorable
experience, whether they stay at a hotel, visit
a travel agency, a sight, a wellness spa or a
specific destination.”

shoot on 35 mm film. Acquiring necessary
co-artistic fundamentals will make them
able to individually develop animation
creations with complex technical needs.
Excellent professors, inspiring intellectual

Moving images become a final work of arts
as seen through their personal filter. To this
end, they need to have both artistic skills and
an up-to-date knowledge of the latest technologies. In line with the complex approach
typical of BKF our students become familiar
with related fields as well to foster smooth cooperation with prospective colleagues. You can
challenge yourself in film productions already
during university years, and learn the professions’ tricks during seminars held at venues
where numerous American films – such as Die

“Today we live in a world ruled by images.
Masses have access to cheaper and cheaper
imaging solutions and technology. Every
second millions of photos are taken across the
world. The immense volume of photos have
not only completely changed the way photos
are used but also our relation to images, while
the sheer quantity of pictures is a telling sign of
the infinite power of communication by means
of images. If we wish to consciously use that
power, we need to find the most suitable and
efficient form and tool of visual presentation.
This is our mission here.”

“Whether you see it in the cinema, watch
them on a TV screen or on the Internet, motion
pictures – be it a documentary or fiction –
have the potential to make us wiser and free.
But they soon turn out to be indecipherable
labyrinths themselves. They are the tools both
for recognition and deception. The means we
have to discover and understand ourselves
are extremely inefficient when it comes to the
comprehension of our private life, politics, past
and future, life, death and love. No wonder that
now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror.
After us, the picture flood: let’s look right into
the centre of the screen.”

Nowadays, design is an essential factor in
the competitiveness of enterprises, both in
Hungary and abroad. The design of product
structure, market management and the
establishment of international relations
require professionals who are familiar with
the trends of the contemporary design and
art scene, and are prepared to manage
such business organizations individually,
or capable of fulfilling tasks as members
of a managing team.
“It is a fine and noble task to
create works of art, and thus to
humanize our material world
and environment. But it is just
as important, and maybe even
more difficult, to provide the
circumstances necessary for the
created values to leave the studios
and workshops, and to reach
their audiences. This is an activity
which requires a great deal of
resourcefulness and creativity,
and which will gain an increasing
importance in the future.”

“Designers are the ones responsible for the
message, its artistic and aesthetic quality but
they also have to bear social and environmental
factors in mind. How does the message exert
its influence? What materials shall be used for
a package design? How will that affect the
environment? Our intention is to introduce
students to the world of an experimental
graphic design studio, the concept of which
has been reinterpreted in the widest sense.
We consider students to be fellow artists who
cooperate with their masters in their effort to
change the world while looking for solutions to
contemporary problems combining traditional
and modern techniques.”

THE SPECIAL PERSPECTIVE OF OUR
SCHOOL – NOT JUST A DIPLOMA, BUT
A PROFESSION!
The film profession has entered a period of
transition. We are witnessing the decline of the
traditional film and television cinematography
profession as we have known it. We see our
images appear on an ever-expanding variety of
silver screens, monitors, displays and projector
screens, while the final image springs forth from
a growing number of interrelated visual fields.
The speed of this process increases each and
every year. Thus, we must not only ensure that
students have excellent command of traditional
technologies, but we must also enable them to
keep pace with technologies as yet unknown,
and to become a potential driving force behind
this development. We train cinematographers
who are as comfortable making a short feature
as they are shooting their own news report,
conceived. Recorded and edited on their own,
via satellite as a private correspondent, or rising
to the challenge when their supervisor asks
them to create the intro for a brand new video
game.

EFSB are preeminent filmmakers who have
earned their professional experience working

ACCESS TO TOP LEVEL EQUIPMENT:
Our students can also use the warehouses
of ORIGO FILM STUDIO where the most
modern lighting and grip equipment used by
cinematographers all over the world is stored.
MORE THAN JUST A DEGREE:
Our students receive not only an arts
education degree, but also a specific film
related profession of their choice. Since they
are trained by active professionals, they have
excellent job opportunities in the film industry
immediately upon graduation. We are looking
forward to the applications of those who are
interested in photography and film, who have
good cooperative and interpersonal skills and
a strong visual sense.

Our foreign language program, developed
in line with the guidelines of the Common
European Framework, has also been accredited
as an adult-training program. The wide range
of possibilities includes general language
courses, preparatory courses for general
language exams, and language examinations
for professional purposes, professional subjects
in foreign languages and in-house accredited
and international language exams. Making use
of these opportunities, undergraduate students
may successfully apply for Erasmus and other
foreign exchange programs and internships
abroad, while our graduates may acquire
a proper command of at least two languages by
the time they enter the labour market.
State-of-the-art technologies including smart
boards, digital and interactive course books
and Web 2.0 software also play a key role at
our language classes.
LANGUAGE CLASSES ARE AN INTEGRAL
PART OF THE CURRICULUM AT EACH
DEGREE COURSE.
GENERAL LANGUAGE COURSES
INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE
EXAMINATION
Besides offering language courses, BKF
also operates as an off-site language exam
centre where students can take the TOEIC
exam, a respected international business
communication exam which is highly valued
by the corporate world.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE COURSES
In today’s globalized world, mastering
a second language provides a competitive
edge for young graduates. Therefore, it
is of crucial importance for us to train
professionals who are able to perform their
job-related tasks in a second language, as
well. Studying foreign languages is part of
the curriculum at each degree program at
BKF offering students the opportunity to
choose from among 8 different languages.
In addition, foreign students may also take
part in Hungarian as a second language
classes in order to foster their integration
into local everyday life and to make the
most of their stay in Hungary.
The aim of the general language courses is to
offer students the opportunity to start studying
a new language, to reach at least a B2 level in
the language they have already been studying
and to be able to complete professional subjects
in foreign languages. The members of foreign
language classes are arranged in groups based
on the result of their placement tests. Students
can choose from plenty of languages, from
Chinese to Spanish.
SUBJECTS IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES
The objective of these classes is to enable
students to acquire professional knowledge in a
second language and to master the professional
foreign language skills of their future job, thus
further improving their employment chances
both in the national and international labour
market. Apart from English, we offer these
courses in German, French, Italian and Spanish
as well on an as-needed basis.

Dual study
programs
WHAT IS THE DUAL
STUDY PROGRAM?
WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT
MAKE COMPARED TO REGULAR
BA PROGRAMS?
Starting with the 2014-2015 academic year,
BKF offers dual study programs as part of its
undergraduate business programs launched
in cooperation with corporate partners.
A dual study program is a specific type of
undergraduate degree program with a massive
load of workplace training. The main benefit
comes from your employment by a company
where you gain invaluable work experience
during a 22-week-long internship. In addition
to performing career-related professional tasks
during your studies, you also earn a salary not
only during the internship periods but also for
the full length of the program.
›› Apply for the program of your choice
››
››
HOW DO YOU BENEFIT FROM
A DUAL STUDY PROGRAM?
›› You receive on-the-job experience at
market leading companies.
›› You receive a salary from the company
››
››
››
››
for the full length of your studies (both
during the internship period and the
academic year).
During the internship period you become
familiar with the overall operation of the
company as well as the positions relating
to your degree program. By gaining
experience in various positions, you will
be more prepared to choose the most
suitable career for yourself.
If you need to work to finance your
studies, you do not have to find a student
job. Instead, you can immediately start
a professional career.
You have a very good chance of getting
a job offer on finishing your studies.
By the time you graduate, you will
secure a better position for yourself as a
job-seeker since you will qualify as
a graduate with more than 3 years of
work experience.
HOW TO APPLY?
The application process consists of two parallel
procedures. To gain admission to the dual
study program you need to succeed at both
procedures. However, in case you are only
successful at the general admission procedure
of BKF you can still complete the regular degree
program you applied for at our university. (Be
aware, that the information contained here

The labor market is in need of professionals
with international experience and an excellent
command of second languages. Therefore, it
is our priority to offer an increasing number of
students the opportunity to take part in study
programs and internships abroad within the
framework of various grants and scholarships.
In addition to our programs in English, we also
take part in international programs, for instance
the Erasmus exchange program to provide
greater mobility sending our students to foreign
institutions and receiving guest students from
abroad so our students can get acquainted
with different cultures, hone their knowledge
of foreign languages and gain experience and
collect wonderful memories. Furthermore,
we also encourage students to take part in
international competitions and debates, for
example our students have won an international
communications contest in Belgium and they
have participated in various conferences in

BEFORE GRADUATION
Career building starts on the first day upon
entering higher education – in fact, upon
choosing the institution. Our students take
the first steps towards their future career on
day one at BKF, making use of the wide range
of possibilities we offer in order to ensure
they have a competitive advantage when they
enter the labour market. Career building is
a many-faceted process, from selecting the
appropriate optional subjects through joining
the professional community at an early stage,
to participating in skills development trainings,
foreign language classes and exposure to
foreign experience.
The Career Centre of BKF offers permanent
assistance to students through its training
programs, counselling and other support
services to help them with building a successful
career path during their studies and after
graduation.
Career
Building
74
We maintain close contact with the actors of
the labour market and our graduate students
to shape our career building program in
accordance with their constant feedback.
According to employers, the most important
expectations recent graduates shall live up to
include the following: willingness to work,
communications skills, creative thinking,
problem-solving skills, an aptitude for team
work, independence, readiness to learn and
of course proficiency in foreign languages. In
line with this, BKF provides a host of excellent
opportunities to help students meet the above
requirements.

Internships
In order to offer students a meaningful, fully
efficient internship, we have started a Patron
Program in the framework of which there is
a professional mentor at each workplace helping
students successfully perform their tasks.
At BKF, gaining practical experience is much
more than a compulsory internship in the last
semester. As an organic part of their degree
programs, students study in a practice-oriented
spirit from the very first day. What fosters
hands-on experience at BKF?
›› Practical classes – tasks performed in small
››
››
››
groups, project-based exercises simulating
work situations.
Professional groups – as members of the
Student Marketing Team, the Student
PR Team and our Talent Management
Workshops, our students perform real
jobs.

WHY BUDAPEST?
A strong black espresso or a white chocolate
coffee with cinnamon, or perhaps even a
crème caramel macchiato? Something
sweet and hot, strong but mild at the same
time, something you want to remember,
though it’s quite hard to define. This could
be Budapest if it were a coffee. It leaves
everyone with a different impression.
With its diversity, you can find a place for
culture, fun, history, education, or relaxation.
And as a sparkling “UniverCity,” it’s full of
students from all around the world, with a
constantly sizzling nightlife.
The city stretches along both sides of the
Danube, representing the many faces of the
Hungarian capital. There’s the historic Buda

side, with its castle district, Turkish baths,
Roman ruins, medieval alleys, caves and
countless green areas spread out among the
hills. On the other side, it’s Pest with its ever
changing promenades, stores, restaurants, bars
and bubbling cultural life.
Come and a have a sip for yourself! So what
does Budapest taste like to you?
THE HUNGARIAN HIGHER EDUCATION
SYSTEM
The quality of Hungarian education is
famous in Europe and there are many
foreign students who come to the country
to study, pick up new skills or improve their
language proficiency. The educational
system in Hungary is multilevel, and there
are more and more opportunities to study.
During the past few decades, it has become
a most convenient choice for international
students to pursue their studies in Hungary.
In any given year, nearly 10,000 foreign
students reside in the country participating in
study programs offered in foreign languages.
According to a recent survey carried out by the
Academic Cooperation Association (ACA), in
terms of study programs provided in English,
Hungary is the sixth most popular destination
in Europe.
Hungary has been taking part in the Bologna
Process since 1999, whose most important
goal is the creation of the European Higher
Education Area. Therefore, the bachelor’s,
master’s, and doctoral degrees granted by
Hungarian higher education institutions (HEIs)
can easily be recognized in all European Union
countries as well as vice versa.

ECTS CREDIT SYSTEM
The workload of students in higher
education in Hungary is expressed in terms
of ECTS credits. ECTS, the European Credit
Transfer System, is the most widely known
credit transfer and accumulation system
in Europe.
ECTS credits are a value allocated to course
units to describe the student workload required
to complete them. They reflect the quantity of
work each module requires in relation to the
total quantity of work required to complete
a full year of academic study at the institution,
that is, lectures, practical work, seminars,
private work - in the laboratory, library or at
home - and examinations or other assessment
activities.
ECTS credits are also allocated to work
placements and to thesis preparation when
these activities form part of the regular program
of study at both the home and host institutions.
ECTS credits are allocated to modules and are
awarded to students who successfully complete
those modules by passing the examinations or
other assessments.

EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES
NAGY LAJOS CAMPUS
RÓZSA CAMPUS
The central educational facility of the University, with its modern circular
building which opened in 2006, is a unique complex compared with the
premises of Hungarian higher education institutions. The two buildings of
the central campus are located in a green environment. Lectures are held in
the two vast lecture theatres of the circular building, each with a capacity
of 300 persons, and the two smaller lecture halls of the main building.
In addition, our facilities include 21 small and medium-sized seminar rooms
with state-of-the-art educational technology and we also boast 9 rooms
equipped for IT courses. The circular building houses the central library of
the University, offering not only books for loan but also a reading room,
internet access, photocopying, printing and scanning services. Student
work and learning at the University is facilitated by unrestricted access to
a WiFi network covering the complete area of the campus, and a number
of computer work stations scattered around the buildings. The canteen
serves both hot and cold food, and there are vending machines for drinks
and snacks. The editorial office of BKF newspaper and bkFM online radio
are also situated on this campus. Depending on the weather, students can
take a relaxing break in the gardens or play table soccer in the canteen.
For those arriving by car, parking spaces are situated right in front of the
building, but access is also easy by public transport, as the campus is
in walking distance to one of the biggest hubs in Budapest, served
by metro and suburban railway line, and numerous buses and trams.
Our building in Rózsa street campus is the home of the Institute of Applied
Arts, equipped with workshops and specialized classrooms meeting the
requirements of training in the arts, such as a photo studio and laboratory,
a camera operator studio, specialized animation classrooms and cutting
rooms.

Also located here is a rarity in Hungary, the Leonar3Do lab, as well, in
which students may work in real space and time with the help of computers
equipped with 3D configuration. Students studying at motion picture art
programs have the opportunity to work with the professional ISIS (Infinitely

The art buildings have easy access due to their location between to major

STUDENT LIFE AT BKF
MENTOR PROGRAM, WELCOME WEEKEND,
FRESHMAN BALL AND LOTS MORE
Student life at BKF
We are building a creative community.
Creativity is our hallmark, the core value that
inspires and guides every step on our way. It is
the driving force behind protecting students’
interests, it is the principle that underlies each
proposal we forward to the leaders of BKF and
it is present when we foster the development of
the internal communication of the institution. It
is against this backdrop that we deal with social
and foreign issues and enhance an active sports
and cultural life. And it is certainly embodied
in each event that we organize. We represent
the idea of creativity in our radio programs,
articles, short films and charities. We try to
come up with ideas and launch events that
are above the high threshold of BKF’s unique
community thus breaking news of the most
important developments relating to public life,
studies and career-building.
At BKF you have loads of opportunities: you
can join the staff of bkFM online radio to put
yourself to the test as an anchor or DJ, you
can work for our monthly Newspaper, you can
become part of our international team, the ESN
BKF. You can also choose to assist the events
organized by the school by joining the Student
Marketing Team or vote for NANO embracing
students active in arts, and finally, you cannot
miss the umbrella organization, the Student
Union of BKF.
ESN BKF – ERASMUS STUDENT NETWORK
AT BKF
Erasmus Student Network Hungary (ESN
HUNGARY) exists to represent and support
Erasmus and International societies (sections) in
Higher Education Institutions around Hungary
that welcome and support international
exchange students coming to study in Hungary.
(source: www.esn.hu)
BKF joined ESN in 2010 with an aim to provide
guidance to all international students studying
at degree programs and students in the Erasmus
exchange program. Within the framework of its
mentor system, volunteer Hungarian students
help their foreign peers in social, academic and
practical integration in addition to organizing
special cultural events and activities, such as film
clubs or trips to various parts of the country.
Don’t let things happen without you and don’t
let your university years just go by. Become
part of a team, network to make long-lasting
contacts, gain experience, do something for
the community and strengthen the value of
your BKF diploma!
