As a young man her son, Maurizio Zanella, traveled to France and returned with the dream of creating a Champagne region for Italy on a smaller scale. In the gentle hills of Lombardy, the Francaicorta region emerged with its blend of chardonnay, pinot nero, and pinot bianco vinified as the Champenoise do, with a second fermentation in the bottle. The estate’s most famous cuvée is the Anna Maria Clementi, named after Maurizio’s mother. 616 Ca’ del Bosco, Brut, Franciacorta, Lombardia NV 105 3655 Ca’ del Bosco, Brut, rosé, Franciacorta, Lombardia NV 172 4016 Ca’ del Bosco, Millesimato, Franciacorta, Lombardia 2008 176 4020 Ca’ del Bosco, Annamaria Clementi, Franciacorta, Lombardia 2005 220 1090 Ca’ del Bosco, Annamaria Clementi, Franciacorta, Lombardia 2003 235 7028 Ca’ del Bosco, Annamaria Clementi, rosé, Franciacorta, Lombardia 2004 485 5059 Camillo Donati, Il Mio, dry lambrusco, Emilia-Romagna 2013 135 Le Vigne di Alice, Ose, rosé, Valdobbiadene, Veneto NV 1916 Ricci Curbastro, Satèn, Brut, Franciacorta, Lombardia 2009 1739 Bruno Giacosa, Spumante, Extra Brut, Metodo Classico, Piemonte 2006 50 68 90 105 STATI UNITI 7417 Thibaut-Janisson, Blanc de Blancs, Extra Brut, Monticello, VA NV 75 4306 Iron Horse, Wedding Cuvée, Green Valley, CA 2008 97 7193 Schramsberg, Blanc de Blancs, Brut, North Coast, CA 2012 102 7203 Sea Smoke, Sea Spray, Sta. These wines are allowed to include only grapes grown from their estates, and all production is completed on property. The Club Trésors, or Special Club, is made up of 29 of the best grower-producers from the best areas of Champagne. These producers craft their best vintage examples, and have the wines judged amongst their peers at several different stages of the wine over many years. There is an extraordinary amount of work and pride put into these cuvées, and the wines definitely prove that. 7783 Pierre Gerbais, Extra Brut, Celles-Sur-Ource NV 88 7139 R.H. Anton settled in the tiny Friulian village of Villanova di Farra, and founded the family winery. Silvio, Anton's great-grandson does not look like a revolutionary; yet he helped usher in the new era of white wine vinification in Northern Italy. In 1975 Silvio created his Vintage Tunina, dubbed the first “Super White”-a blend of international and indigenous grapes inspired by the field blends of his grandfather’s homeland. Were…Dreams… is a chardonnay created with the 1987 harvest. Through the years its name has undergone a number of changes. It was originally dedicated to U2′s “The Joshua Tree” album (1987) and specifically to the song “Where the streets have no name.” 4563 Jermann, Were… Dreams…, chardonnay, Friuli 2012 160 4964 Jermann, Vintage Tunina, sauvignon|chardonnay|ribolla gialla, Friuli 2012 165 3118 i Clivi, verduzzo, Colli Orientali del Friuli 2012 60 7411 Livio Felluga, pinot grigio, Collio 2014 70 7151 Le Vigne di Zamo, ribolla gialla di Rosazzo, Colli Orientali del Friuli 2014 75 3178 Vie di Romans, Ciampagnis Vieris, chardonnay, Friuli Isonzo 2012 95 6773 Vie di Romans, Vieris, sauvignon, Friuli Isonzo 2012 95 8226 Vie di Romans, Dessimis, pinot grigio, Friuli Isonzo 2014 100 4931 Venica & Venica, Ronco delle Mele, sauvignon, Friuli 2014 125 880 Livio Felluga, Terre Alte, friulano|pinot bianco, Colli Orientali del Friuli 2008 190 2185 Movia, Lunar, ribolla gialla, Primorska, Slovenia 2008 100 7497 Simčič, frulanski tokaj, Goriška Brda, Slovenia 2010 150 LIGURIA 2784 Selvadolce, Crescendo, pigato, Bordighera 2012 65 8651 Campogrande, bosco|albarola, Cinqueterre 2010 130 12 ALTO ADIGE 2936 Abbazia di Novacella, kerner, Isarco River Valley 2013 50 8580 Lageder, Vogelmaier, moscato giallo, Südtirol 2015 60 8292 Kuen Hof, Eisacktaler, grüner veltliner, Val d’Isarco 2013 65 8293 Kuen Hof, Kaiton, riesling, Val d’Isarco 2013 70 4297 Manni Nössing, grüner veltliner, Isarco River Valley 2013 85 8248 Cantina Terlano, Winkl, sauvignon, Trentino 2015 90 7416 Tiefenbrunner, Feldmarschall, müller thurgau, Südtirol 2013 100 6254 Cantina Terlano, Vorberg, pinot bianco, Trentino 2012 107 6236 Lageder, Lowengang, chardonnay, Südtirol 2010 115 LOMBARDIA 4017 Ca’ del Bosco, chardonnay, Curtefranca 2009 240 VENETO 6293 Inama,Vigneto du Lot, garganega, Soave Classico 2013 72 8624 Zýmē, from Black to White, rondinella bianca|kerner|traminer, Cariano 2014 75 9014 Inama, Vulcaia Fumé, sauvignon 2013 95 13 PIEMONTE 3290 Ferrando, La Torrazza, erbaluce, Caluso 2011 50 6012 Marchesi di Gresy, sauvignon, Langhe 2013 60 8619 Paolo Scavino, Sorriso, sauvignon|chardonnay|viognier, Langhe 2014 65 5696 Giulia Negri, La Tartufaia, chardonnay, Langhe 2013 80 7232 G.D. Encompassing 250 acres, they comprise nearly 1/6 of all barbaresco vineyards. Supporting all 56 families and the local growers is part of the reason why Produttori del Barbaresco has achieved so much success. 8261 Produttori del Barbaresco, Pora 2011 140 8262 Produttori del Barbaresco, Montefico 2011 140 8263 Produttori del Barbaresco, Montestefano 2011 150 8260 Produttori del Barbaresco, Asili 2011 150 8264 Produttori del Barbaresco, Ovello 2011 150 8265 Produttori del Barbaresco, Rio Sordo 2011 150 Le Tenute Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Grésy, owned by the di Grésy family since 1797, began producing their own wines in 1973 following a decision by Alberto di Grésy. The four estates are: Martinenga in the heart of Barbaresco, Monte Aribaldo in Treiso, Cuneo province, La Serra and Monte Colombo in Cassine, Alessandria province. Grapes from all the estate vineyards are brought to the central winery at Martinenga to be made into high quality wines with the greatest respect for tradition and nature, where the aim is to faithfully transfer as much as possible of the identity of the terroir and the varietal into the bottle. 6010 Marchesi di Gresy, Gaiun Martinenga, Neive 2009 175 8838 Marchesi di Gresy, Camp Gros Martinenga, Neive 2009 175 6304 Marchesi di Gresy, Camp Gros Martinenga, Neive 2008 175 Giorgio Rivetti, owner and winemaker of has led a surge of modern winemaking in Piemonte. Since La Spinetta’s first Barbaresco production in 1995, they have been competing with even the most ripe and forward-style New World wines. The Starderi vineyard is located within the Neive district, where the best Barbarescos grapes grow. Highly rated ripe fruit, maniacal attention to winemaking, and new French oak are some of the reasons the Starderi vineyard deserves careful attention. 1993 La Spinetta, Vursu, Starderi, Neive 2010 365 1992 La Spinetta, Vursu, Starderi, Neive 2008 350 1991 La Spinetta, Vursu, Starderi, Neive 2007 360 1801 La Spinetta, Vursu, Starderi, Neive 2006 350 1778 La Spinetta, Vursu, Starderi, Neive 2003 350 29 PIEMONTE BARBARESCO 4907 Prunotto 2011 110 5514 Castello di Neive, Santo Stefano, Neive 2009 115 8799 Icardi 2006 120 8520 Albino Rocca, Vigneto Brich Ronchi, Barbaresco 2011 140 7649 Pio Cesare 2011 175 8794 Dante Rivetti, Bricco di Neive, Riserva, Neive 2004 200 6468 Paitin, Sorí Paitin Vecchie Vigne, Riserva, Neive 2010 200 1092 Pelissero, Vanotu, Riserva, Treiso 2006 230 1886 Pelissero, Annata, Riserva, Treiso 1998 240 1684 Ceretto, Bricco Asili, Bernardot, Treiso 2008 250 3143 Bruno Rocca, Rabajà, Barbaresco 2010 260 1817 Ceretto, Asij, Alba 1997 290 3153 Pio Cesare, il Bricco, Treiso 2010 350 2821 Ceretto, Bricco Asili, Alba 2009 350 1333 Bruno Giacosa, Asili, Barbaresco 2003 350 1077 Bruno Giacosa, Asili, Barbaresco 2008 355 Bruno Giacosa Casa Vinicola, Santo Stefano, Neive 2008 360 6245 Bruno Giacosa Casa Vinicola, Santo Stefano, Neive 2011 490 2303 Gaja, Barbaresco, Treiso 2006 500 975 30 PIEMONTE BAROLO Paolo Scavino is a historical winery founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto by Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo. Today, the family estate is run by the third and fourth generation - Enrico Scavino and his daughters Enrica and Elisa. The Scavino family tends to 19 historical Barolo crus located in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Serralunga d’Alba, Verduno and Roddi. In 1978 the estate’s Bric del Fiasc was one of the first single vineyards wines created in Barolo. 7220 Paolo Scavino, Bric dël Fiasc, Castiglione|Barolo 2009 310 6155 Paolo Scavino, Bric dël Fiasc, Castiglione|Barolo 2006 220 7313 Paolo Scavino, Bricco Ambrogio, Castiglione|Barolo 2009 200 6152 Paolo Scavino, Bricco Ambrogio, Castiglione|Barolo 2006 170 3656 Paolo Scavino, Rocche dell’Annunziata, Riserva, La Morra 2005 530 6156 Paolo Scavino, Rocche dell’Annunziata, Riserva, La Morra 1998 magnum 995 Brothers Aldo and Giovanni took over responsibilities of the legendary Giacomo Conterno estate in 1961, but split ways over slightly different philosophies on the production of Barolo. Poderi Aldo Conterno was established in 1969. He was considered to be a modernist with traditional techniques. His three sons Franco, Stefano, and Giacomo run the estate just as their father did. All single crus spend up to 30 months in large Slavonian barrels and a year in bottle. Romirasco is the most elegant of the vineyards, with vines averaging 55 years in age. Cicala is the more powerful vineyard with more clay-based soils. 4145 Aldo Conterno, Cicala, Monforte d’Alba 2010 450 4146 Aldo Conterno, Colonnello, Monforte d’Alba 2010 448 4147 Aldo Conterno, Romirasco, Monforte d’Alba 2006 455 6400 Aldo Conterno, Granbussia, Riserva, Monforte d’Alba 2005 900 Roberto Voerzio manages 21 acres of vineyards in La Morra, an area renowned for producing the most approachable, supple Barolos. Roberto’s cultivation methods are simple: fertilization is carried out by hand to address the individual health of each plant, establishing a perfect equilibrium in the vineyard and allowing for uniform maturation of all vines. High-density planting, a trademark of Voerzio’s vineyard management, translates into extremely low yields. His wines are considered authentic, near ‘cult’-like masterpieces, sought after by collectors and wine lovers worldwide. 5367 Roberto Voerzio, Brunate, La Morra 2009 590 5365 Roberto Voerzio, Cerequio, La Morra 2006 420 5366 Roberto Voerzio, Rocche dell’Annunziata Terriglione, La Morra 2007 600 4277 Roberto Voerzio, Rocche dell’Annunziata Terriglione, La Morra 2006 530 31 PIEMONTE BAROLO One of the most respected producers of traditional style Barolo, Bruno Giacosa comes from three generations of vinaiolo. He did not go to enological school but instead learned his craft by working with his father and grandfather. In the early 1980’s he bought the Falletto vineyard in Serralunga. Giacosa firmly believes in the value of single-vineyard bottlings. His crus are only bottled in the better vintages, and if a wine does not attain a very high standard, he either declassifies it, selling the wine as a simple nebbiolo, or he does not bottle it at all. 2900 Bruno Giacosa, Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba 2009 325 2904 Bruno Giacosa, Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba 2008 290 1946 Bruno Giacosa, Le Rocche del Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba 2009 335 1945 Bruno Giacosa, Le Rocche del Falletto, Riserva, Serralunga d'Alba 2007 450 When Giorgio Rivetti started making wine in 1977, he dreamed of one day producing a Barolo. The opportunity arose some 23 years later when La Spinetta purchased the Campé vineyard in Grinzane Cavour. The south-facing vineyard was re-vamped by Giorgio who restricted yields by 75%. The vines are now an average of 50 years old and La Spinetta’s Campé is known for it’s ripe fruit that can be enjoyed young as well as it’s great aging potential. 7582 La Spinetta, Garretti, Grinzane Cavour 2011 165 3241 La Spinetta, Campé, Grinzane Cavour 2008 435 6674 La Spinetta, Campé, Grinzane Cavour 2006 465 6675 La Spinetta, Campé, Grinzane Cavour 2005 465 32 PIEMONTE BAROLO 8622 GD Vajra, Albe, Barolo 2011 110 8197 Guilia Negri, La Tartufia, La Morra 2010 116 6951 Paolo Conterno, Riva del Bric, Serralunga d’Alba 2011 125 4096 Massolino, Serralunga d’Alba 2010 130 7397 Luigi Einaudi, Terlo, Barolo 2010 130 5231 Vietti, Castiglione 2011 130 4561 Aldo Riccardo Seghesio, La Villa, Monforte d’Alba 2010 150 6388 Silvio Grasso, Bricco Luciani, La Morra 2008 160 8583 Comm.G.B. No less than four red wine styles have emerged from the same blend of the indigenous grapes rarely found anywhere else in Italy, Corvina, Rodinella, and Molinara. Valpolicella is a fresh, lighter style of wine meant to be drunk young. Amarone di Valpolicella is made from grapes using a method called appassimento. The grapes are dried for 3 months on straw mats concentrating their flavors and sugar content resulting in a bigger, bolder wine. Ripasso di Valpolicella is the middle ground between Amarone and the young Valpolicella. The pressed grapes from Amarone are “refermented” in the young Valpolicella adding body, extract, and a bit more alcohol. Recioto di Valpolicella is a sweet wine made with the same appassimento method, but not fermented dry like Amarone. 2829 Secco-Bertani, Original Vintage Edition, Verona 2009 65 5413 Allegrini, Palazzo della Torre, Verona 2011 65 7603 Zenato, Ripassa, Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore 2012 72 7312 Zýmē, 60*20*20, cabernet sauvignon|cabernet franc|merlot, Colli Berici 2010 145 3711 Allegrini, La Poja, Monovitigno Corvina Veronese 2008 250 37 VENETO AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA 8800 Monte Faustino, Classico 2008 150 8791 Brigaldara, Classico 2011 155 8802 Prà 2008 170 7625 Michele Castellani, Classico 2010 190 7305 Speri, Monte Sant’Urbano, Classico 2011 215 6556 Allegrini, Classico 2010 230 3131 Zenato, Classico 2008 305 3705 Masi, Costasera, Classico 1998 330 3706 Masi, Costasera, Classico 2000 340 8859 Zýmē, Classico 2008 410 2203 Bertani, Recioto della Valpolicella, Superiore, Classico 1980 610 1764 Speri, Monte Sant’Urbano, Classico 1990 685 3791 Dal Forno Romano, Cellore d’Illasi, Superiore 2008 1,050 1473 Dal Forno Romano, Cellore d’Illasi, Superiore 2006 1,050 38 TOSCANA BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO In 1962, after Italy did away with their sharecropping system, peasant farmer Primo Pacenti founded Canalicchio di Sopra in Northern Montalcino. The climate is cooler and less affected by the Mediterranean breeze. Banfi was founded in 1978 by the ItalianAmerican brothers, John and Harry Mariani who initiated a modern era in the Brunello production. Banfi Brunello is produced with clones of Sangiovese, selected after 20 years of research on this unique grape and is aged in French oak barrels as well as in Slavonian barrels. 4854 Castello Banfi, Poggio alle Mura, Riserva 2004 380 4852 Castello Banfi, Poggio all’Oro 1999 390 7858 Castello Banfi 1997 375 7856 Castello Banfi, Poggio all’Oro 1990 495 Col d’Orcia or (the hill overlooking Orcia River) is the biggest organic wine producing farm in Tuscany, and is one of the oldest wineries in the region. Casanova di Neri’s style is distinctly modern with power, concentration, and refined complexity. In recent years, his Brunellos have received high accolades from the wine press with scores between 95 and 100 points. The pride of the estate is the Cerretalto vineyard which forms a natural amphitheater overlooking the Asso river. The soils of Cerretalto have a high percentage of galestro, iron, and magnesium, which give a unique character to the sangiovese grown there. Thus, Cerretalto is the source of the estate’s single cru bottling. The name Sassicaia or “the place of many stones” refers to this stony, gravelly soil. The wine was initially unappraciated by other winemakers and consumers who were accustomed to lighter, Sangiovese-based wines. It remained a strictly private affair for over twenty years, only to be comercially released in 1968, when it received a great welcome. Since then it has remained one of the most soughtafter wines in the world. 5946 Tenuta San Guido, Guidalberto, cabernet|merlot, Maremma 2013 1392 Tenuta San Guido, Sassicaia, cabernet|cabernet franc, Bolgheri 1988 46 135 1,256 TOSCANA SUPER TUSCAN 7600 Pupille, sangiovese, Morellino di Scansano 2013 60 8009 Tenuta di Arceno, il Fauno, merlot|cabernet|cab franc|sangiovese|petit verdot 2012 75 8437 Le Macchiole, merlot|cab franc|syrah, Bolgheri 2014 80 8442 Eredi Fuligni, sangiovese| merlot, Montalcino 2013 85 2265 Fattoria Resta, Martin del Nero, sangiovese, Orcia 2011 100 8907 Mazzei, Phillip, cabernet, Fonterutoli 2011 135 7281 Cabreo, Il Borgo, sangiovese|cabernet sauvignon, Greve 2012 142 4915 Avignonesi, Desiderio, merlot, Cortona 201 155 5179 Querciabella, Turpino, cabernet franc|syrah|merlot, Maremma 2010 160 6669 Michele Satta, Cavaliere, sangiovese, Bolgheri 2008 180 2819 Tua Rita, Giusto di Notri, cabernet|merlot|cab franc, Maremma 2011 198 7196 Gaja, Ca’Marcanda, Magari, merlot|cabernet|cabernet franc, Bolgheri 2013 210 8632 Le Macchiole, Paleo, cabernet franc, Bolgheri 2011 220 2354 Petrolo, Galatrona, merlot, Scansano 2011 225 8435 Le Macchiole, Paleo, cabernet franc, Bolgheri 2009 233 8448 Castello di Querceto, Cignale, cabernet|merlot, Greve 2010 240 6277 Sette Ponti, Oreno, cabernet|merlot|cabernet franc, Maremma 2012 250 3733 Michele Satta, Castagni, cabernet|syrah|teroldego, Bolgheri 2007 300 3211 Avignonesi|Cappenelle, 50 & 50, merlot|sangiovese, Cortona 2008 370 3161 Querciabella, Camartina, cabernet, Maremma 2008 420 47 TOSCANA SUPER TUSCAN The Tignanello estate is the home of the renowned Tignanello and Solaia vineyards. It was, in fact, the first of the modern-day Super Tuscans. 7614 Antinori, Guado al Tasso, cabernet|merlot|cab franc, San Casciano 2011 295 8354 Antinori, Tignanello, sangiovese|cabernet|cabernet franc, San Casciano 2013 260 6275 Antinori, Tignanello, sangiovese|cabernet|cabernet franc, San Casciano 2012 260 5991 Antinori, Tignanello, sangiovese|cabernet|cabernet franc, San Casciano 2004 785 5989 Antinori, Tignanello, sangiovese|cabernet|cab franc, San Casciano 2001 490 5988 Antinori, Tignanello, sangiovese|cabernet|cab franc, San Casciano 2000 420 5990 Antinori, Tignanello, sangiovese|cabernet|cab franc, San Casciano 1998 380 5987 Antinori, Tignanello, sangiovese|cabernet|cab franc, San Casciano 1997 790 5986 Antinori, Tignanello, sangiovese|cabernet|cabernet franc, San Casciano 1985 990 1761 Antinori, Solaia, cabernet|sangiovese|cabernet franc, San Casciano 2009 760 1707 Antinori, Solaia, cabernet|sangiovese|cabernet franc, San Casciano 1988 900 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, named after the grove of flowering ash trees surrounding the winery in Bolgheri, was founded in 1981 by Piero Antinori’s brother, Lodovico. The key element of the success of this renowned estate is its unique soil, composed of clay, gravel, and loam, ideally suited for the cultivation of Bordeaux varieties. While its most famous wine, Ornellaia, is a carefully crafted blend of Cabernet and Merlot, Masseto is a rare, single vineyard wine made entirely from Merlot grapes. The celebrated Russian-American oenologist, André Tchelistcheff was one of the first people to recognize the potential of the extraordinary terroir of the Masseto hill, which now is the source of rich, silky elegant Merlot that became a modern classic. 8638 Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia, Le Volte, merlot|sangiovese|cab, Bolgheri 2014 80 8637 Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia, Le Serre Nuove, merlot|petit verdot|cab franc, Bolgheri 2013 150 8259 Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia, Ornellaia, cabernet|merlot, Bolgheri Superiore 2013 490 5877 Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia, Ornellaia, cabernet|merlot, Bolgheri Superiore 2012 540 2208 Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia, Ornellaia, cabernet|merlot, Bolgheri Superiore 1988 940 1807 Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia, Masseto, merlot, Bolgheri Superiore 2010 1,280 3494 Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia, Masseto, merlot, Bolgheri Superiore 2011 1,420 48 UMBRIA Sagrantino di Montefalco is a dark and powerful grape, responsible for some of the finest red wines in Central Italy, and Paolo Bea’s Sagrantinos are the most remarkable of them all. Bea is a firm believer in non-interventionist and natural winemaking which includes organic practices in the vineyard and hands-off approach in the cellar. His goal is to keep the wines “alive”, allowing them to showcase identity of the place they come from. 7916 Paolo Bea, Vigna San Valentino, sagrantino|sangiovese|montepulciano 2010 95 7914 Paolo Bea, The estate first started farming organically in 1950 and in 1974, went a step further converting to biodynamic farming. In addition, the estate uses a high percentage of Mourvèdre in their classic southern Rhone blend. This is what François Perrin believes contributes to their success. 1921 Beaucastel, Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2011 230 7308 Beaucastel, Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2008 240 1374 Beaucastel, Châteauneuf-du-Pape 1998 290 1372 Beaucastel, Châteauneuf-du-Pape 1994 300 Vieux Telegraphe has been growing vines on La Crau plateau in Chateauneuf-du-Pape for 100 years. The old communication tower that used to stand there gave the name to the winery. The plateau itself is considered by many the best cru in Chateauneuf-du-Pape and produces earthy, deeply structured wines. 4084 Vieux Télégraphe, La Crau, Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2011 187 7742 Vieux Télégraphe, La Crau, Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2001 290 7741 Vieux Télégraphe, La Crau, Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2000 250 Chateau La Nerthe is the oldest estate in the region. The vines here are 40 years old and certified organic since 1998. The wines are more modern in style with softer tannins. CALIFORNIA - CENTRAL COAST Our wines are an extension of myself: loud, uncompromising, full of love and heart but mostly honest - says Greg Linn. His Ambullneo Vineyards Pinot Noir scored a 95 point rating in 2002 as the first in the Central Coast. Linn’s wines are the true definition of artisan and they show the influence of his favorites like Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Leroy, Claude Dugat. Old world meets new world in Greg Linn’s wines. The fruit is tamed and the earth tones added to connect the bridge from what was, to what is, in a unique and precise way. 4791 Greg Linn, Ancient Ocean, Santa Maria Valley 2009 195 4790 Greg Linn, Grangerville, Santa Maria Valley 2009 220 7535 Greg Linn, Grangerville, Santa Maria Valley 2007 280 7531 Ambullneo Vineyards, Bulldog, Santa Maria Valley 2009 238 7530 Ambullneo Vineyards, Bulldog, Santa Maria Valley 2007 235 7529 Ambullneo Vineyards, Bulldog, Santa Maria Valley 2005 240 6472 Sea Smoke, Southing, Sta. Both their Howell Mountain and Napa Valley bottlings are always 100% cabernet. Lower in alcohol than their neighbors, their wines are the closest examples to fine Bordeaux showing flavors of chocolate, cassis, and black raspberry. 6394 Dunn Vineyards, Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, CA 2011 270 3233 Dunn Vineyards, Napa Valley, CA 1998 275 3229 Dunn Vineyards, Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, CA 2000 320 1866 Dunn Vineyards, Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, CA 1998 350 7234 Ladera, Napa Valley, CA 2013 85 8817 Keenan, Napa Valley, CA 2012 140 7695 Girard, Napa Valley, CA 1996 149 3281 Mount Eden, Estate, Santa Cruz, CA 2009 160 8336 Jordan, Alexander Valley, CA 2012 160 7694 Girard, Napa Valley, CA 1995 165 7948 Ghost Block, Oakville, Napa Valley, CA 2013 165 7414 Showket, Napa Valley, CA 2007 170 4810 Optima, Alexander Valley, CA 1993 170 8162 Groth, Napa Valley, CA 1994 175 8163 Groth, Oakville, CA 1997 205 4928 Snowden, Napa Valley, CA 2011 210 6802 Nickel & Nickel, Tench Vineyard, Oakville, Napa Valley, CA 2012 220 7687 Staglin Family, Estate, Rutherford, Napa Valley, CA 2011 225 8560 Beaulieu Vineyard, Georges de Latour, Private Reserve, Rutherford, CA 2011 250 65 CABERNET SAUVIGNON | BORDEAUX BLENDS Founded in 1968, Diamond Creek was California’s first winery to focus on producing estate vineyard cabernet sauvignon. Gravelly Meadow shows jammy blackberry, and hints of cedar. Red Rock Terrace produces more velvety tannins, with hints of cherry, mint and black currant. Volcanic Hill is the darkest of our examples, expressing cassis, violets, and a little smoke. 3224 Diamond Creek, Gravelly Meadow, Napa Valley, CA 2011 480 3225 Diamond Creek, Red Rock Terrace, Napa Valley, CA 2011 480 3226 Diamond Creek, Volcanic Hill, Napa Valley, CA 2011 480 7704 Viader, Napa Valley, CA 1994 290 4294 Arietta, Napa Valley, CA 2011 300 8273 Sterling, Reserve, Napa Valley, CA 1996 315 7706 Viader, Napa Valley, CA 2000 340 4908 Quintessa, Napa Valley, CA 2011 390 7705 Viader, Napa Valley, CA 1997 390 4568 Joseph Phelps, Insignia, Napa Valley, CA 2010 420 7447 Rudd, Estate, Napa Valley, CA 2009 455 4813 Silver Oak, Napa Valley, CA 1989 475 1079 Staglin Family, 25 Anniversary, Napa Valley, CA 2007 490 7876 Morlet Family, Cœur de Vallée, Oakville, CA 2006 515 6482 Peter Michael, Au Paradis, Knights Valley, Sonoma County, CA 2012 520 2308 Peter Michael, Les Pavots, Knights Valley, Sonoma County, CA 2011 520 1660 Peter Michael, Les Pavots, Knights Valley, Sonoma County, CA 2010 520 7933 Peter Michael, Les Pavots, Knights Valley, Sonoma County, CA 2013 525 6248 Opus One, Napa Valley, CA 2012 590 4338 Shafer, Hillside Select, Napa Valley, CA 2010 640 5961 Shafer, Hillside Select, Napa Valley, CA 2011 640 7707 Ridge, Montebello, Santa Cruz Mountains, CA 1997 660 1475 Araujo, Eisele Vineyard, Napa Valley, CA 2009 805 4811 Opus One, Napa Valley, CA 1998 870 3712 Ridge, Montebello, Santa Cruz, CA 1990 890 4812 Opus One, Napa Valley, CA 1996 995 th 3287 Bond, Quella, Napa Valley, CA 2010 1,050 66 CABERNET SAUVIGNON | BORDEAUX BLENDS MERLOT 7415 Nickel & Nickel, Harris, Napa Valley, CA 2013 145 7692 Arrowood, Sonoma County, CA 1993 160 6834 Matthiasson, Red Hen, Napa Valley, CA 2012 190 7054 Jonata, Fenix, Ballard Canyon, Santa Ynez, CA 2012 225 2368 Leonetti, Walla Walla, WA 2012 237 CABERNET FRANC 6875 Matthiasson, Matthiasson Vineyard, Napa Valley, CA 2013 135 3772 Larkin, Napa Valley, CA 2011 150 3738 La Jota, Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, CA 2011 175 5868 Viader, Dare, Napa Valley, CA 2013 195 7053 Jonata, El Alma, Ballard Canyon, Santa Ynez, CA 2011 375 67 RHÔNE VARIETALS Sine Qua Non is a California cult winery known for its Rhône style blends, a tendency to avoid repetition, and a very limited production of wine that is highly difficult to obtain. Manfred Krankl and his wife Elaine founded the winery in 1994. Sourcing fruit from a wide variety of growers from year to year, and increasingly from their own vineyards has caused the winery to never make exactly the same wine twice. A tradition at Sine Qua Non is that each wine has a distinct name, label and often bottle style. Each label is hand made by Manfred with linocut art work of his own creation. 7608 Sine Qua Non, Male, syrah, Central Coast, CA 2013 470 7609 Sine Qua Non, Female, grenache, Central Coast, CA 2013 470 4526 Sine Qua Non, Stock, syrah, Central Coast, CA 2012 470 4523 Sine Qua Non, Stein, grenache, Central Coast, CA 2012 465 2269 Sine Qua Non, Dark Blossom, syrah, Central Coast, CA 2011 465 2270 Sine Qua Non, Dark Blossom, grenache, Central Coast, CA 2011 460 1618 Sine Qua Non, Five Shooter, syrah, Central Coast, CA 2010 440 1617 Sine Qua Non, Five Shooter, grenache, Central Coast, CA 2010 440 4527 Sine Qua Non, Stock, syrah, Central Coast, CA 2012 magnum 1,660 4524 Sine Qua Non, Stein, grenache, Central Coast, CA 2012 magnum 1,660 1619 Sine Qua Non, Five Shooter, syrah, Central Coast, CA 2010 magnum 1,560 1620 Sine Qua Non, Five Shooter, grenache, Central Coast, CA 2010 magnum 1,550 1034 Sine Qua Non, The Thrill of Stamp Collecting, syrah, CC, CA 2009 magnum 1,510 Our wines are an extension of myself: loud, uncompromising, full of love and heart but mostly honest - says Greg Linn.
