Activity Centre Diary and News for July
July 2016 Prime News is the monthly event diary of The Derby and District MS Society based at the Derby MS Activity Centre Gold Award for MS Beautiful Border at Gardeners World Live NEC Horticulture staff and students at Derby College have teamed up with The Multiple Sclerosis Society, Derby and District Branch to create a unique plant border that was exhibited and judged at BBC Gardeners' World Live 2016 at Birmingham's NEC. Gold was awarded to the MS Society Derby & District Branch and Derby College on Wednesday 15th June. The border was created to raise awareness of MS and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Inspired by the poem 'MS' by Rose Robinson, the border design incorporates the National MS Society colours of orange and black - signifying the highs and lows in the emotional journey facing MS sufferers. A metal sign running through the plants spells out the message 'Hope Forms the Future' which was created by Engineering students at the College's Roundhouse campus and is based on the Derby MS Activity Centre’s mission statement. The border was sponsored by Local Horticulture company Plantscape. A massive thank you to Mike, Michelle, Cindi, Cat, Richard, Tom and all the others involved in this amazing project. Your unwavering determination, enthusiasm and excellence in what you do has brought the MS garden to life. 1 of 8 2 of 8 Local News Unless otherwise stated, contributed by the members of the MS Society Derby & District Branch at Lilian Prime House.
