TIHAN is a coalition of caring individuals, businesses, and
faith communities working together for a compassionate
interfaith response to HIV/AIDS.
Volunteer opportunities available! Meet great people. Learn
about yourself and our community. Make a difference.
All are welcome. We celebrate diversity.
Come join us and be part of the solution.

Shawn Cullen,
Artistic Director/Conductor
Shawn Cullen, educator, conductor and artistic director, has quickly
earned a reputation for his high-energy teaching style and fresh,
innovative artistic nuance. Over the past 10 years Cullen has held
positions as Director of Bands/Vocal Music/ Theater Arts and Fine Arts
Mentor Teacher with Tucson Unified School District as well as Adjunct
Faculty in the School of Music at the University of Arizona.
In a short time, Mr. Cullen has enjoyed a diverse professional career as a versatile and
multifaceted musician continuing to set himself apart from others with his eclectic
background and dynamic style. As a performer Cullen has traveled throughout the United
States, Mexico and South America as a vocalist, instrumentalist and conductor. Now in
his 6th year as a GALA Choruses conductor and 6th season with Reveille, Mr. Cullen has
continued his exciting artistic vision including leading Reveille to their historic 2013 debut
performance with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra for “Broadway Rocks!” and their most
recent international performance in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico this past May, 2014. Also in
May, after a year as interim conductor, Cullen was named Artistic Director/Conductor for
Desert Voices, Tucson’s premier gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender chorus dedicated to
bringing Arizona beautiful music and to forging a positive and resolute GLBT presence in
the community. This appointment makes Cullen among the few conductors nationally to
serve as Artistic Director for multiple GALA Choruses.
In the teaching world, award-winning ensembles under Mr. Cullen’s direction have been the
recipients of the “Arizona Arts Spotlight Award” and “Superior and Superior with Distinction”
ratings at competitions held in Arizona and California. Students from Mr. Cullen’s programs
have gone on to receive acceptance in such prestigious music programs as The Julliard
School, The New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, and the Manhattan
School of Music. Cullen currently holds the position of Principal Conductor for ART
(Arizona Repertory Theater) The University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film & Television’s
Professional Training Company with recent conducting credits including “Into the Woods”,
“Secret Garden”, “Batboy: The Musical”, “Avenue Q”, “Nine”, “Oklahoma!”, “The Full Monty”,
and Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music”.
Mr. Cullen holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education and a Master’s of Music in Conducting
from the University of Arizona. Mr. Cullen is a proud member of GALA Choruses, American
Choral Director’s Association, Arizona Music Educator’s Association, and the National
Association for Music Education.

Keith Koster, Assistant Conductor
Singing since the age of three and directing choirs since 15, Keith feels
blessed to be doing both with Reveille Men’s Chorus in his second year
with the group. An educator for Amphi Schools, Keith has taught chorus
and musical theater to middle and high school students since 2001. He
is Creative Worship Director, accompanist and bandleader for Shelter
at Saguaro Christian Church, designing and creating worship weekly,
bringing ancient and modern together for a unique and experiential
worship experience.
Just months after coming out, Keith found himself directing Detroit Together Men’s
Chorus’ premiere performance at a pride event at the state fairgrounds where he ran into
his cousin! He is founder and past Artistic Director of Great Lakes Men’s Chorus and past
Artistic Director of Desert Voices. He served on the GALA Board for four years, his legacy
being the creation of youth policies to include GLBTQ youth in GALA Choruses and events.
These policies led to the creation of several queer youth choruses around the nation.
Keith is an active member of Arizona Educators Association, American Choral Directors
Association and Association of Disciples Musicians.
Kyungsun Choi, Accompanist
Pianist Kyungsun Choi has been enjoying a varied career as a soloist,
chamber musician, accompanist and teacher. He has given numerous
solo recitals and chamber recitals both in South Korea and USA. In
addition, he has worked as a choir pianist and an opera pianist/coach.
The opera productions that he has participated in were varied including
Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Bizet, Mascagni, Sondheim, Mechem, Menotti,
and Bernstein. A native of Seoul, South Korea, Pianist Kyungsun Choi
graduated from Yonsei University in Seoul, where he earned Bachelors
degrees in Piano Performance. He went on to University of Northern Iowa on a full tuition
scholarship where he received a Masters of Music under Prof. Sean Botkin and served as a
graduate teaching assistant. Kyungsun has recently received his doctoral degree in Piano
Performance under Dr. Paula Fan. Dr. Choi has served as accompanist with Reveille Men’s
Chorus since 2007.
President’s Message, Stephen Michael
Twenty years! Reveille’s journey over the last 20 years has been multifaceted and quite exciting. Throughout those 20 years, one message
has continued to remain true and profound, Reveille has been
“changing lives through music” in many different ways.
As Reveille looks towards its next 20 years, the board and the chorus
members have adopted this broader mission not only to bring inclusion
of LGBTQ citizens to the larger society, but to give everyone a sense of
how special, yet not so out of the ordinary we all are. We continue to forge partnerships
with agencies with missions to reduce the impact of HIV and eliminate the stigma that still
exists.
In meeting our broader mission to “change lives through music,” we are focusing on
expanding our reach through scholarship and creative excellence. In honor of a past
member and president of the board, Joel Meister, we have a scholarship fund that is the
focus of our fundraising this year. In our efforts to expand our mission we are committed
to keeping that fund full to provide those less financially fortunate the opportunity to
experience Reveille. We can only do this with your generous donations. We honor you, our
supporters and audience members, for all you do to help Reveille continue its vital mission:
CHANGING LIVES THROUGH MUSIC.
