WEEKEND PROGRAM – 2016
A BRIEF PROFILE OF THE UNIVERSITY
A CHARTERED UNIVERSITY
Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) chartered by the Government of Sindh and recognized by the Higher Education
Commission (HEC), was established in 1998. The University was named after three great leaders: Mohammad (PBUH) for
moral leadership, Ali (RA) (Baab-ul-Ilm), for knowledge and Jinnah for struggle. The objective in naming the University
after Quaid-e-Azam was to offer the highest quality of education, research and patriotism.
Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, unlike other institutions which have degree awarding status only, enjoys the privileged
status of a comprehensive university. The Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee of the Government of Sindh has
ranked Mohammad Ali Jinnah University as "Very Good" (5 Star).
At Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, education is considered as an essential service. Hence teaching continues despite
natural and human obstructions. All graduates of MAJU are getting jobs in reputed organizations or undergoing advanced
studies abroad on scholarships.
FACULTY
The faculty of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University is highly educated having earned doctoral / master's degrees from U.S.A.,
Canada, U.K. and reputed institutions of Pakistan. Dedicated to academic excellence and motivated to inspire students, the
faculty includes some of the best educationists in the country. Faculty members are encouraged to work on research projects
and involve students in their research. Students actively participate in these projects to apply the knowledge acquired in the
classroom. Innovative teaching methods are used.
COURSES OF STUDY
The purpose of structuring course offerings with a blend of general education, humanities, social sciences and a field of
specialization is to develop a balanced personality rather than a mechanistic one with little or no knowledge of the social
environment in which one has to work. It also helps students to identify their own areas of interest. There are no extra
charges other than the course fee. Text books are provided to the students on the very first day of the semester in their
respective class rooms free of charge.
LINKAGE WITH THE INDUSTRY
At Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, it is our firm belief that besides class room instructions, our students should also be
exposed to real life experiences and situations. In this regard, we invite heads of reputed national and multinational
organizations on every Tuesday and Thursday in weekly seminars and also in the class rooms. This gives our students an
updated knowledge of the various trends in the industry, so that they are well equipped to serve when they enter the practical
fields.
MORAL VALUES
The University is conscious of the importance of moral values in the development of human resource. Every effort is made to
inculcate and strengthen moral values in the students at Mohammad Ali Jinnah University. For this purpose, Verses from the
Holy Quran and sayings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) are displayed at various places and recited in the classrooms on a daily
basis.
CENTRE FOR HOPE AND COURAGE
A unique centre named "Centre for Hope and Courage" has been established with a specific objective of "creating a burning
desire to succeed in life" in the students of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University. To achieve this objective, a large number of
books on the lives of great personalities and business leaders have been provided in the library. A number of movies also
occupy the shelves of the library. These movies are about the lives of great achievers and inspiring events in the history of
mankind.
