Arrival in Rhodes On your arrival in Rhodes you will have a full wedding consultation with
Justine; she will accompany you to your chosen venues and talk you through your wedding
arrangements. You will be given an itinerary of your wedding day which you and your wedding
guests can refer to. At this consultation you will pay for all extra services that you have booked
(in Euros), a receipt will be issued.
Preparation on the Big Day Justine will contact you on the morning of your wedding to
reconfirm all arrangements and check if there are any last minute details to arrange. She will
then plan the day accordingly, ensuring that all the extra services booked are in place,
personally check your flowers and bouquets, and communicate with her wedding team.
A member of our team will stay with the Bride, another will decorate and arrange the ceremony
area and meet your wedding party, either at the hotel or at your wedding venue. Another
member of the team will be decorating your reception venue and finalising all details, as per
your instructions.
Wedding Ceremony The civil wedding ceremony will take between 5 -10 minutes,
depending on your venue. Many couples extend their ceremony by exchanging their own vows,
or by having a poem or reading by one of their wedding guests. We can also arrange for your
chosen music to be played at the ceremony venue for the Bride's arrival or as background music
during the ceremony. Some locations also allow drinks to be served (champagne, beer or wine)
after the ceremony; there would be an additional charge for this service. If you have booked a
boat cruise for after your ceremony, a member of our wedding team will escort your wedding
party to the boat, and afterwards, to your reception venue. One co-ordinator will stay at your
reception until you are happy for her to leave.
Marriage Licence
Weddings in Filerimos, Kalithea Spa and Faliraki will allow you to sign
your official marriage licence after the wedding ceremony. All other wedding venues will require
you to visit the relevant Town Hall the next day to sign, accompanied by one of our wedding
team. If your wedding ceremony is on a Friday you will visit the Town Hall on the following
Monday morning. You will require two witnesses who will need to bring their passports with
them. Once your marriage licence is signed we will organise the translation and legalisation of
your marriage certificate (including the Apostille stamp), and posted by recorded delivery to
your home address.
Ceremony Venues
Your wedding day should be one of the most memorable days of your life, filled with
romance and unforgettable moments to treasure forever. Imagine declaring your vows
on a sun-kissed beach or in a fragrant garden bathed in warm sunshine.
We have carefully handpicked our selection of ceremony venues to suit all styles of
weddings. Everybody has their own idea of where they want to tie the knot; yours may
be under a spectacular dome such as Kalithea Spa, or a beachfront location, or at a
Greek chapel overlooking the azure Mediterranean Sea. Unforgettable Rhodes
Weddings can arrange for your dreams to come true.
We work in partnership with the best 5 star deluxe hotels that Rhodes has to offer,
where you can marry and hold your reception in all in one location. Hotel weddings are
extremely popular as they offer the benefits of not having to travel out of the hotel, and
a great way to enjoy your stay with family and friends. Spend the morning relaxing
around the pool, or being pampered at the hotels spa, then get married in the
afternoon, followed by a lavish reception, all under one roof! Ceremonies can be
arranged in the hotel gardens, by the pool and some even have their own chapels.
And for those of you who wish for a simple ceremony on the beach look no further, as
these hotels offer an elegant beach setting. Whether you are looking for a simple
wedding or an extravagant celebration there are several optional extras to personalise
your day, and we can help arrange those finishing touches.
Why not treat yourself to a mini-honeymoon after your wedding? In all our hotels we
can offer you an overnight stay or longer, many offer a room upgrade or champagne
and a fruit basket in your room. This would need to be booked before your arrival.

FAQ’S
Will our marriage be legally recognised outside of Greece?
Yes - your marriage is completely legal and recognised in your country of residence.
How soon do we need to book?
There will be some paperwork involved which can take time to prepare. We require a
minimum of 7 weeks’ notice for Rhodes weddings. The more popular wedding venues
do get booked very quickly; therefore we suggest you book as early as possible.
How long does our stay in resort need to be?
We recommend a 14 night holiday as it makes your time away more relaxed. However
we do recommend you arrive in Rhodes a full three days before your wedding day.
What name should the bride-to-be travel under?
The bride must travel under the name that appears on her passport for both the
outbound and inbound flights.
What documents are required?
There are some legal formalities attached to marrying abroad although probably less
than you would imagine. Please refer to our legal requirements so you can see what is
required for you to be able marry in Greece.
Can I get married overseas if I have been divorced?
Yes of course - You will just need to provide your divorce certificate (Decree Absolute)
proving that you are now single and free to marry.
Will we get an official/legal marriage certificate?
The cost of your wedding includes the translation of your marriage certificate into
English. If your certificate isn't ready to take home with you, we will forward it by
recorded post to your home address.
Can we request a date/time for our wedding?
Yes, we can request out for your chosen wedding date. This is subject to the availability
of your chosen venue and the person who will conduct your ceremony. We will always
confirm a wedding date and time at time of confirming your booking. (Please bear in
mind that any unforeseen circumstances that may occur locally could cause the rescheduling of your time).
Who will conduct our wedding ceremony?
Your wedding ceremony will usually be performed by a local registrar or mayor. All
ceremonies are conducted in English and in Greek.
Can you organise our wedding reception?
Yes we would be delighted to arrange your wedding reception for you no matter how
large or small. Arrangements are made in the UK but finalised and paid for locally in
Rhodes.
Do we need to organise witnesses to be present?
You will need two witnesses for your marriage. They can be friends or family - or local
wedding coordinators will be happy to assist if this is not possible.
Can friends and family attend our wedding?
Definitely . We will be more than happy to cater for any wedding party size.
Can we amend/ cancel our wedding once confirmed?
We will always do our best to accommodate any changes you may want to make. For
full details of the dates and charges applied to changes and cancellations please see our
terms and conditions.
Can we choose any style of wedding outfit?
It is completely up to you to choose the style you want for your wedding clothes. Please
bear in mind however that temperature in Rhodes can get very hot and this should be
considered when making decisions about what to wear.
Can we make appointments with a hair stylist or beautician?
Yes, we work with great hair stylists and beauticians who come highly recommended.
They will visit you at your hotel to do a consultation and trial run before your big day.
We recommend you book this with us before you arrival as they are popular and get
booked up quickly.
Do we need a special wedding insurance?
We strongly recommend that you take out a special wedding insurance.
Can we book separate rooms for the night before the wedding?
We will be more than happy to make any such arrangements where possible, at a
supplement for you.
Will it be possible to arrange group excursions for the wedding party?
We will be more than happy to confirm private outings and trips for your wedding party.
Alternatively we can provide you with details of the excursions we offer in resort should
just the Bride and Groom want to take a trip together!
Can you arrange extras e.g. flowers & a photographer?
Yes, we can. Photography and flowers are included in some of our wedding packages.
You are also welcome to add on any extras such as a videographer or extra images, or
table floral displays, or wrist corsages etc from the ‘Finishing Touches / wedding extras
list provided.
Can you recommend how to transport wedding clothes?
Your wedding outfit should be packed away safely in a hard suitcase/ box and put in the
hold of the aircraft. It is not possible to take your wedding clothes into the cabin itself.
Please discuss this at the time of booking as, depending on the airline, this may need to
be pre-booked and charges may apply for excess baggage.
What happens after we book?
We will confirm everything to you in writing and start helping you through the process
of organising the legal formalities and advise you of what will need to be done over the
next few months/weeks. Please see our booking terms and conditions by

Celebrant Services and Same Sex Ceremonies New in 2013
For alternative weddings and commitment ceremonies
If you thought that a dream wedding destination like the Greek island of Rhodes wasn’t
possible for you because you couldn’t have a legal civil marriage or civil partnership
ceremony there – think again!
New for 2013, Unforgettable Rhodes Weddings is excited to have secured the exclusive
services of the first and only UK trained and certified Marriage & Family Celebrant
resident in Rhodes.
A celebrant ceremony is all about designing a more meaningful and appropriate
wedding or commitment ceremony for you. It is about making your special occasion
special. It is about making your ceremony unforgettable – for you and your guests.
Because a celebrant ceremony is not bound by any legal constraints, prejudices or
beliefs, it is perfect for gay and lesbian couples, couples with mixed-ethnic backgrounds
and anyone who simply wants a more romantic, meaningful and memorable ceremony.
You are free to express yourself and your feelings for one another in your own style,
including any music, readings and rituals of your choice.
Our celebrant will create and conduct a unique ceremony inspired by you: the story of
how you met, how you fell in love and of your hopes and dreams for your future
together.
Your ceremony can be an intimate one with just the two of you or include members of
your family and friends. Our celebrant will actively encourage you to include members
of your family and friends in your ceremony as she believes that it is personal
participation and inter-action that builds the most lasting and precious memories.
Other advantages of a celebrant ceremony are that you can hold your ceremony in any
location, on any day of the week and at any time and there is no documentation
required for a celebrant ceremony so you can fly to Rhodes one day and hold your
wedding ceremony the next! Many people who choose a celebrant wedding or
commitment ceremony legally register their partnership with a civil marriage or civil
partnership registration at their local register office before or after celebrating what
they consider to be their “real” wedding ceremony in Rhodes.
And our celebrant does not just conduct wedding ceremonies. She can create a perfect,
unique ceremony for just about any of life’s milestone events.
So whatever your celebration - wedding, civil partnership, commitment ceremony, vow
renewal, baby naming, anniversary, engagement – contact us and let us make it truly
unforgettable.
Celebrant Services FAQ’s
Why choose a celebrant wedding ceremony?
With so much time, effort and care devoted to making your wedding day perfect
doesn’t it seem a shame that so little importance is given to what should be the most
important part of it all?
Most people find that civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies are short and
impersonal. What should be the highlight of your wedding day is often the most
forgettable part and many couples are left disappointed with the proceedings. A
celebrant ceremony gives you the freedom to create a more personal, meaningful and
memorable ceremony, one that is relevant to your lifestyle and allows your family and
friends to take part in with you. A ceremony that your guests actually take part in is one
that you will all talk and laugh about for many years to come.
Greece has not yet introduced same-sex weddings or civil partnerships into its
constitution, but a celebrant ceremony allows couples of all creeds, cultures and sexualorientations to have an equally beautiful and meaningful ceremony. The registration of
a civil partnership in the UK is a simple procedure either preceding or following the
celebrant ceremony in Rhodes.
Is a celebrant wedding legal?
No. A celebrant wedding is not a legal marriage registration. It is the ceremonial part of
your celebration and is intended to make your wedding ceremony unique and
meaningful.
In order to make your marriage legal, you will need to register your marriage at your
local register office or combine your celebrant ceremony in Rhodes with a legal
registration in Greece. You can find out more about combining your celebrant
ceremony with a legal ceremony here. www.unforgettablerhodesweddings.com
Is a celebrant wedding illegal?
No. A celebrant wedding is a symbolic ceremony. It is the ceremonial part of your
ceremony and has no legal status either in Greece or your country of origin. Any
certificate that you sign and/or receive is purely commemorative.
Can my partner and I have a legal gay wedding or civil partnership
registered in Greece?
No. Although the subject is due to be discussed in parliament, Greece is currently not
one of the countries that registers same-sex weddings or civil partnerships in law.
What documentation do I need for a celebrant ceremony?
None! You can arrive in Rhodes on Tuesday and hold your ceremony on Wednesday.
No paperwork is required.
Will we get any kind of certificate to commemorate our special day?
Yes, our celebrant will give you a choice of certificates. If you are having a wedding
ceremony or commitment ceremony, you may opt to sign a symbolic wedding certificate
during your ceremony.
What do you mean by rituals? It sounds a bit odd!
Rituals are a very important part of any special occasion ceremony whether it is religious
or secular. What would a child’s birthday be without lighting candles on a cake and
blowing them out?
The rituals performed in traditional wedding ceremonies include dressing the bride,
giving the bride away, exchanging vows, exchanging wedding rings, etc.
In a celebrant ceremony you are encouraged to include rituals that are more
appropriate and meaningful to you. Some of the most popular rituals that couples
include in celebrant ceremonies are Hand fasting, lighting a Unity Candle, Ring Warming,
the Sand Ceremony and Jumping the Broom. However there are many lovely rituals to
choose from and you (and often the celebrant) might even invent a ritual all of your
own.
Where can we hold our celebrant ceremony?
Just about anywhere! Our celebrant has performed ceremonies on the beach, at hotels,
in private villas, restaurants, gardens and hill-tops.
What should we wear for a celebrant ceremony?
Whatever you like. If you are having a wedding ceremony then it is usual for the bride
to wear a wedding dress in whatever colour she likes. Guests tend to dress up too – just
as they would for a religious or register office wedding.
Some couples like to give a theme to their wedding, such as a colour theme or musical
era.
However, bear in mind that it can get very hot in Rhodes. Ladies can take advantage of
this by wearing floaty summer dresses and sandals, and shirt sleeves and flip flops are
often a popular choice for the men.
If you have any further questions our celebrant will be happy to help you.
