VVCE – A Centre of Excellence in Technical & Management Education
Vidyavardhaka Sangha (VVS) stands as a synonym for quality education in the Heritage city of Mysore. VVS was
established in 1949 by great visionaries namely Late Sahukar Channaiah and Late. K. Puttaswamy (Former Minister of
Karnataka) to impart quality education to all sections of the society. There are ten educational institutions starting from
nursery to engineering college under the aegis of VVS. At present, Sangha is under the able guidance and leadership of
Sri Gundappa Gowda, President, Sri Shivalingappa B., Vice-President, Er. P. Vishwanath, Secretary and Sri
Lakshminarayana S.N., Treasurer.
Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, popularly referred as VVCE, is one of the most prestigious engineering colleges in
Karnataka. Established in 1997, VVCE has grown in leaps and bounds. VVCE is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological
University (VTU), Belgaum, approved by AICTE, New Delhi and recognized by Govt. of Karnataka. VVCE functions through
its Board of Governors constituted as per AICTE guidelines. The college is under the able leadership of Dr. B. Sadashive
Gowda as Principal, who has rich experience in industry and education field both in India and abroad. The college has
taken stringent measures as per AICTE norms to prevent any incidence of ragging.

ISTE Students and Staff Chapter
• The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a
national, professional, non-profit Society registered
under the Indian Societies Registration Act of 1860
• The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute
in the production and development of top quality
professional engineers and technicians needed by the
industries and other organizations through its activities
The student and staff members of ISTE, IEEE, ISHRAE and SAE
are actively organizing technical events and supporting the
objectives of the program. The members of the chapters are
encouraged to participate in all the technology events to
enhance their technical knowledge and, to equip and update
themselves with the latest technological advancements.
Students of VVCE take pride in being a member of
professional bodies and involve in many activities related to
chapters with great enthusiasm and fervor.
IEEE Students Chapter
• The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE,
read I-Triple-E) is a professional association with its
Corporate Office in New York City and its Operations
Center in Piscataway, New Jersey and is dedicated to
advancing technological innovation and excellence
In addition, VVCE has a tie up with Quality Circle Forum of
India (QCFI) which is a recognized institution representing
the Quality Circle Movement in India. QCFI has been
constantly conducting technical events and quiz at VVCE to
promote the quality concept tools.

ISHRAE Student Chapter
With due respect to the rules and regulations laid at
VTU/AICTE, VVCE has constituted following committees to
cater the needs of students and foster safety measures
• ISHRAE, the "Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating &
Air-conditioning Engineers" was founded in 1981 in New
Delhi by a group of eminent HVAC&R professionals
• Student Welfare Association
• ISHRAE established its local chapter in VVCE to encourage
Scientific Research and impart education in the fields of
Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration and Allied Sciences
• Anti Ragging Committee
• Women's Grievances Redressal Committee (WGRC)
• Its primary objective is to further the arts and sciences of
heating, refrigerating and air-conditioning, and to
improve the quality of HVAC&R to meet the everincreasing customer expectation

• VVCE believes that, Physical education is an education through which
many of the educational objectives are achieved by means of
physical activities involving sports, games, gymnastics and exercise
• Sports is an activity that promotes a spirit of sportsmanship,
encourages sense of healthy participation and ignites team spirit
• The Department of Physical Education is established to encourage
students and staff to participate in both indoor and outdoor games,
which makes them physically fit, mentally alert, emotionally

VVCE has proved to be a center of excellence in technical and
management education through its applauding
achievements. The milestones achieved during the
academic year 2013-14 bringing laurels to the institution are

• One project sponsored by VGST has been completed
successfully
• Students of 2013 batch grabbed 8 Ranks in VTU including
First Rank in the department of ECE. In total, VVCE has to

Aspera NEN E Cell of VVCE
• Aspera - the NEN Entrepreneurship cell of VVCE was started
in 2007
• A wide spectrum of activities are carefully designed and
conducted throughout the year with the intention of honing
entrepreneurial skills amongst the young budding engineers
• Regular features of Aspera activities include, the induction
program, “100 Rupees activity”, E Leaders workshop,
launching and mentoring Start Ups on Campus
• Students participated in the Pre Eureka Workshop
conducted by BVB Institute of Management in collaboration
with IIT, Mumbai
• “iPrint3D” – a student venture got wide acclaim and has been
invited to conduct a workshop on 3D printing in RVCE,
Bangalore
E Week 2014
• For the fourth time in succession, Aspera, the NEN E Cell of
VVCE, steered the College and Mysore to fame by bagging
the Championship Runners-up Trophy during NEN E Week
2014, which took place between 1st March & 8th March
2014
• The theme of E Week 2014 was “Innovating for India”
• This annual event, steered by the National Entrepreneurship
Network (NEN), happens throughout India for one week,
across 30 cities covering over 600 Colleges and more than
seven lac participants
• The evaluation of E Week 2014 was based on two factors.
Fifty percent weightage was for entrepreneurial activities
conducted during the period March-2013 to February-2014.
The other 50% was evaluated during E Week 2014, for their
entrepreneurial edge and impact

• VIDYUTH! A Great cultural extravaganza at VVCE is
the annual fest which provides fabulous opportunity
for students to exhibit their talent with uniqueness
and magnanimity
• The cultural fest VIDYUTH has fetched excellent name
and popularity in the city and has become a glittering
and mesmerizing cynosure for Mysoreans
• Students participate with enthusiasm and
magnetism in many cultural and literary events
organized during VIDYUTH
• VVCE organized the annual cultural fest VIDYUTH –
2014 from March 14-16 during this academic year

• The major attractions of VIDYUTH 2014 were,
Treasure Hunt, Dance and Fashion competitions
• Many inter-collegiate competitions organized during
VIDYUTH encouraged students of other colleges to
showcase their talents with great enthusiasm
• Approximately 2000 students thronged in this
fascinating cultural gala of 3 days
• In the dance competition scheduled on March 14,
many teams participated with fanaticism, fervor and
verve
• On March 15, the exotic fashion competition took
place with hilarity and dynamism
• Participants on the ramp fascinated and captivated
the audience with utmost anxiety and zeal
• MARATHON, EDUSPRINT organized on March 16, in
association with 'Make A Difference' (MAD) - a
nonprofit organization, was flagged off by Dr. M. A.
Saleem, Commissioner of Police, Mysore. Nearly 600
students participated in this exciting event
• A special rock group 'LIVE BANNED' enthralled the
huge crowd of youngsters on the closing day
