COMPANY PROFILE
I.T.T. SpA is a leading Italian Company who specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of
reformers and fired heaters for global oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
Understanding of process technology is a key factor in our ability to provide the best fired heaters for the job
and to provide units designed to maximise efficiency and to minimise emissions. There is no fired heater
challenge we cannot meet, whether for new installations, replacements, revamps or retrofit.
We have the experience since 1954 and present day structure to handle both single heater projects as well
as larger and more complex multiple heater projects and reformers.
I.T.T. was formed as an independent Company to develop new business in international markets, following
reorganisation and splitting of Kirchner Italia business in 1997. We operate from our offices in Milan, Delhi
and Seoul as well as through our workshop and worldwide network of Agents and Representatives.
I.T.T. has its own thermal and mechanical design capability for Fired Heaters and our own in-house software
resulting from fifty years of experience and reliable know-how. We are as well approved constructor of
Reformers and Heaters designed by other parties (HALDOR TOPSØE, UOP, etc.).

Company Experience
ITT is the leading “Independent” Syngas Reforming Engineer in the worldwide market.
Besides all the technical consideration above explained it is worthy to note that ITT
performance limited to the very last 5 years is as follows:
Based on their over 50 years and over 50 furnaces experience, ITT have been able to design, engineer, supply and
start-up Steam Reforming packages for all Syngas application including:

Design and Engineering
a.
Process Design & Thermal Design
Process reaction design and thermal design are done by
using ITT proprietary softwares, fully validated in
all the many years of experience of ITT in the
field of Syngas Steam Reforming. Catalyst data
as given by the Licensor are checked with
specialized Catalyst companies such as
Johnson Mattey, Suedchemie, Topsoe or others
before being imputed into ITT proprietary
process and thermal design softwares.
b.
Fluid Dynamics Design
A great deal of attention is given in ITT Reformer Design is
paid to the Fluid Dynamics issues. This usually
involves CFD analysis by using “FLUENT”
software. Namely, the flue gas flow in the radiant
tunnels of Top Fired Reformers is always simulated
and optimized. A few examples of tunnel design
procedure are given below:

Mechanical Design
Critical parts of the Reformer Package are designed to the most
updated and sophisticated design tools. Namely, critical
intermediate tube sheets in the case of high biridgewall
temperature design of horizontal tubes convection sections,
are always designed by using FEM (Finite Elements Method).

Structural Engineering
Structural engineering is executed within a 3-D environment, namely TEKLA. The
use of TEKLA software will result in a nearly non existent risk of design
mismatching as well in the automatic production of shop fabrication cutting
spools sketches and panel assembly sketches which in turn will allow an
extremely low rate of possible site reworks. ITT will be pleased to give
more detailed in formation on this issue at request.

Piping Engineering
Piping engineering will be executed within a 3-D
environment, namely PDS. ITT is available to
produce an interface to Client at the agreed
battery limits based on a PDS model. If so
desired, also PDMS model may be considered.

basis for the flexibility analysis typically incorporating the
whole process piping for the Mixed Feed crossover outlet at
convection section up to Process Gas Boiler in Hydrogen
