ABOUT THE BANDS
122nd Army National Guard
Band (Sunday Holiday Concert)
Since 1944, the Ohio National Guard’s
122nd Army Band has been a staple of
the musical tradition of the United States
Military in Ohio. Members of the unit hail
from every corner of Ohio (plus a few from
other states) and are charged with carrying
out the mission of strengthening troop
morale and building a positive connection
between the public and the Ohio
National Guard.
The Findlay Civic Band has
approximately 80 band members that will
perform during the 65th Riverside Summer
Concert Series this year under the direction
of Jack Taylor, a professor of music at The
University of Findlay and current director
of the Civic Band. You can look forward
to special concert themes and soloist
performances this year.
The Cottonwood Jam String Band
plays a rousing concoction of Americana:
Bluegrass, Old-Time, Irish, Folk, Blues,
and Cajun for concerts and contra dances.
Renata Burgett wields the fiddle and sweet
waltzes. Marti Clayton plays rhythm guitar
and sings. Spencer Cunningham pics
banjos, guitar, mandolin, and sings. Tahree
Lane sings and plucks the bass.
The Findlay Civic Jazz Band has existed
for more than 50 Years. It is a collection of
local talent from high school to retirement
ages. The most unique part of its current
tenure is the fact that they meet for only
two months a summer to perform at the
band shell in Riverside Park. The band
enjoys playing all genres of music!
David Gerald, grew up to the sounds of
the blues and R&B music in his hometown,
Detroit, MI. He has performed in many
local blues, R&B, and rock bands and
today plays nationally with his own band
all-year-round at clubs and festivals
across the United States. The David
Gerald Blues Band has been
receiving widespread radio play, along
with recognition in the Blues & Rock
communities.
The East of Cheyenne plays classic
country music from the fifties and sixties.
The band is made up of Veteran musicians
from Northwest Ohio.
Johnny V (Vermilye) is a singer and
songwriter with a complex sound that
transcends genres, his Bluesy, Folk,
Americana sound has a flavorful twist.
Johnny V plays both acoustic and electric
guitars, piano, mandolin, harmonica, and
is known to pick up a ukulele. Johnny
V enjoys getting together with other
musicians to add some extra music flavor!
You never know who will be joining Johnny
V on stage!
Kerry Patrick Clark is a musical
Norman Rockwell. His palette is a simple
12-note scale, a 6-string guitar and one
voice that seeks to sing hope into the
human experience. His songs are the
compass that points the heart home. Kerry
is a former member of the folk group, The
New Christy Minstrels, a Martin Guitar
Preferred artist and the signer & songwriter
of the #1 folk song of 2014.
Night Jazz plays tunes made famous
by Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count
Basie and Frank Sinatra. They do private
parties, concerts in the park and wedding
receptions. The group is from Flag City
USA and surrounding counties.
Pantasia Steel Drum Band, the
Findlay High School Band, performs music
for all occasions on the steel drum. Since
its inception in the spring of 1997, Pantasia
has garnered an impressive reputation
as an educational and entertaining
instrumental music ensemble. Pantasia
has performed numerous times throughout
Ohio, nationally, and internationally
averaging over 40 performances a year.
Whether it’s toe-tapping polkas for an
Oktoberfest, Big Band Swing for a dance,
or just fun music for your party, you will find
the right music and entertainment for your
event with The Klaberheads. Their
orchestra is known in the mid-western
states as a consistent crowd pleaser
since 1930.
The Geezecats are a quartet of
veteran musicians. Their uniqueness, their
harmony, and their quality of presentation
have brought them rapid success! You
can expect a delightful mixture of rock ‘n’
roll, doo-wop, and comedy. This all comes
across on stage, which spontaneously
invites the audience to include themselves
in the fun.
