Why safety?
Not all safety flooring is as safe as Altro’s. Some floorings have only a thin slip-resistant coating or
emboss, which can easily wear away. Some floorings only provide slip resistance in dry conditions.
Sustained slip resistance in both wet and dry conditions is critical to combat the nearly 37.5 million
reported major injuries from falls worldwide each year. Our unique, patented safety flooring construction
incorporates slip-resistant particles throughout the wear layer. And this forms a durable surface that’s
slip-resistant in both wet and dry for the lifetime of the product.
Because we take safety so seriously, we develop Altro safety flooring to exceed current regulatory
requirements and provide sustained slip resistance for life.

Testing and measuring
At Altro, we go above and beyond what’s legally required, to deliver safety flooring you can count on for
its entire lifetime. We don’t just meet existing test standards, we’re raising the bar and pioneering new,
rigorous testing protocols.
We believe that the best way to measure slip resistance is using the Pendulum Test, which is preferred
by the Health and Safety Executive. It has several advantages over the Ramp Test, the biggest being
that it can be used to measure in situ floor coverings – making it the only method that tests sustained
slip resistance. And, Ramp Tests are carried out on pre-installed ex-factory materials and don’t measure
slip resistance after a few months when a floor’s coating may have worn off.
We’ve gone even further than this, investing in additional tests to prove that our products consistently
deliver to the highest standards. We insist on testing a product when it’s already installed – the only
way to accurately measure its true performance. It’s a pioneering approach that gives you complete
peace of mind.

environmentally-friendly raw materials that enable us to produce phthalate-free vinyl flooring containing
bio-plasticisers. Our commitment to sustainability made us the first manufacturer to recycle traditional safety
flooring in-house and led to us being first to market 100% recyclable and reusable safety flooring postinstallation, which took the flooring industry by storm.

At our manufacturing base, we’re committed to using resources efficiently and are actively reducing
waste, energy and water consumption, and implementing closed-loop recycling processes. We’ve
operated a zero-PVC-waste-to-landfill policy since 2014 by investing in, and installing, the world’s
first safety flooring recycling system. Altro are one of two founder members of Recofloor™, the
industry’s vinyl take-back scheme which collects vinyl off cuts and diverts them from landfill.
Since the launch of the scheme in 2009, Recofloor has diverted over 2,500 tonnes of waste vinyl
flooring from landfill. We also set up Recowall™, the UK’s first wall cladding recycling scheme.

Where you may not need a whole, fully clad doorset, you can choose partial protection; helping

Durability and slip resistance
We know that durability is paramount when it comes to flooring
for transport. Once welded, our system becomes water-resistant
too, protecting subfloors from water ingress and damage.
Altro Transflor safety flooring offers sustained slip resistance in
both wet and dry conditions. In terms of durability, products
retain their slip resistance owing to the incorporation of slipresistant minerals thoughout the thickness of the wear layer.
All our products achieve a minimum Pendulum Test
Value (PTV) of ≥ 36, ASTM D2047 ≥ 0.6, BAM and DIN
51130 R10 slip resistance rating making them ideally
suited to the heavy footfall and sometimes wet conditions
experienced in public transport.

Developed to keep your passengers safe, this product meets EN 45545 for fire, smoke and
toxicity (class HL2) and has all the properties you’d expect from an Altro Transflor safety
floor such as sustained slip resistance and excellent durability. It can also be hot-welded,
ensuring the system is impervious, reducing the risks of water corrosion.
The range of 12 plain and chipped colours (available in 2mm or 2.5mm thicknesses) lets
you both match standard corporate liveries and provide design contrast with vibrant, accent
colours. Bespoke colours and designs are also available on request.
Our research and development team has worked hard to design a product that is robust yet
flexible enough to fit into small or awkward spaces. Our secret is a lightweight formulation
with added silicon carbide for long-term durability and a fleece backing which aids bonding
for a welded impervious system. It is also phthalate-free.

from. It fulfils the need for resilience and safety when vinyl flooring is
unsuitable, achieving R11 slip resistance and compliance to EN 45545 for

At 2mm thick, this lightweight flooring is easy to handle and install in

hands from collecting logs on a crisp morning? Nature is truly beautiful.

Inspired by nature, using the tones of cherry, maple and oak we’ve
created a stylish wood-look safety flooring range for the executive coach
and bus market.
Our palette of 13 shades, with its sparkle-free finish, enables you to vary
the mood from cool and contemporary to relaxing and comforting.
The designs combine well with modern interiors, including monotone and
sophisticated colour schemes, while also co-ordinating with more vibrant

Altro Transflor Figura™
Typical applications:
City buses. Coaches.
Striking designs in a choice of two contrasting patterns for greater aesthetic
choice and design freedom. Altro Transflor Figura is also available in a range
of attractive colours, extending that design flexibility even further.
The dynamic designs are non-directional for easy installation, plus the
patterns help conceal day-to-day dirt.
The Altro Transflor Figura range has bespoke options available (conditions
apply) and comes with sustained slip resistance. It is also phthalate-free and
contains bioplasticiser.

Cleaning and maintenance
Adhesives
To combat stains from food and drink, salt and dirt, it’s important
that the cleaning regime is frequent and simple. Altro Transflor
safety flooring provides a robust, hardwearing surface that resists
stains, odours and chemicals for better hygiene. Our products
have Altro Easyclean™ Technology for a lasting attractive
appearance and savings in time and cleaning costs.
AltroFix™ 19 Plus
AltroFix 19 Plus can handle the spills in life. It provides a solvent
and water-free, two-part polyurethane adhesive that is not
affected, once it has cured, by spillages of water and most other
liquids. AltroFix 19 Plus is supplied in 1.5 kg, 3 kg and 6kg
units in the correct quantities for mixing. Both A and B parts are
held within the container. AltroFix 19 Plus can be used with all
Altro Transflor safety flooring (in areas subject to spillages).
Not suitable for use on vertical surfaces.
Colour – beige
Coverage average – 4 to 6m² / kg depending on porosity of the
subfloor and trowel size.
AltroFix™ 365
When you need a bond that lasts, AltroFix 365 won’t let you
down. A high tack acrylic adhesive that can be applied to dry
porous and impervious surfaces. For use with Altro Transflor
safety flooring in areas not subjected to spillage.
Colour – blue
Coverage average – 25-35m2 per 5 litre unit depending upon
subfloor and method of application

Training
We run regular training at our dedicated training school and offer
on-site support during installation to help and provide information
on detailing techniques.
AltroFix™ 25NF
When you’re in the fast lane, AltroFix 25NF will keep you
on track. A contact adhesive, it enables the floor to be used
immediately after laying. Ensure use in well-ventilated areas.
Should always be used for coving and vertical surfaces.
Colour – orange
Coverage average – 15 m² bonded area per 5 litre unit.
