Cycling and Walking Path Glencoe to Appin
A multi-use path runs from Glencoe Village to just south of
Ballachulish Bridge, where it joins a lovely path (National
Cycle Network route 78) along the disused railway to
Kentallen. Enjoy a gentle cycle or take in the wonderful
coastal scenery on foot. The path continues south over
the hill to Duror and as National Route 78 is not yet
complete, a gap exists south of Duror. Further south, the
route continues on purpose built path onward to Appin
and Oban. These paths are part of the National Cycle
Network, which is coordinated and promoted by Sustrans,
the sustainable transport charity. For more information,
see www.sustrans.org.uk. The path from Ballachulish
to Glencoe village is maintained by Transport Scotland
and the path shown on the north side of the River Coe
provides a scenic orbital route of Glencoe village.

changing weather conditions and tell someone where
you’re going and when you’ll be back. It’s a good idea
to carry a map & compass if you’re planning one of the
more strenuous walks detailed.

The Lost Valley, Glencoe
The Lost Valley is always a popular walk but it is a bit
more strenuous than some of the low level walks in the
area. The valley runs between Gearr Aonach and Ben
Fhada, two of the Three Sisters of Glencoe, and offers a
good mountain experience without too much effort.
I
The Devil’s Staircase, Altnafeadh
to Kinlochleven
The Devil’s Staircase goes from Altnafeadh to
Kinlochleven and forms part of the West Highland Way.
This 6 mile walk takes in breathtaking views of the glen
and Rannoch Moor and at its peak you can see the
Blackwater Reservoir which fuelled the water turbines in
the former Aluminium Smelter at Kinlochleven.
•
a wonderful selection of cosy selfcatering cottages, guest houses and bed
& breakfasts
So much myth, legend and history precedes a visit
to the expanse of Glencoe and Loch Leven, that
many visitors are unprepared for the sheer beauty
and breathtaking serenity of this vast sweeping
pass.
•
homely hostels & a choice of caravan
parks too!
Why not base yourself here & explore a bit further
afield too! Fort William, Ardnamurchan, Oban &
Lorn, Inverness, Mull & Iona, Skye & Loch Ness are
all within a day trip from Glencoe & Loch Leven.
If you haven’t yet booked your accommodation,

great emphasis on the fantastic produce available
on our doorstep from fish & shellfish to local
meats, game & cheeses.
It’s one of life’s great pleasures to settle down to a
mouthwatering meal after a full days’ adventure in
the Glen.
We all know how important it is to keep the kids
entertained whilst on holiday & when you are here,
they’ll be spoilt for choice. Most activity providers
in the area cater for children, although for the
