-
The participants in the discussion were able to share their experiences and vision of
the current situation in the economy of our country, as well as to present what are the
major problems and obstacles they face in their business, and offer possible
solutions. Forum was attended by representatives of the authorities who used this
opportunity to collect the information, and many company representatives and
students.
-
After extensive debate, the conclusions of the Second Forum on Domestic
Production in Bosnia and Herzegovina were that businessmen, together with state
institutions of all spheres of governing must urgently work to solve problems. A key
conclusion is that it must be made a comprehensive effort to raise public awareness
about buying local products from an early age, and in that process everyone can
contribute.
-
Other conclusions, but not less important , were that the producers themselves should
make steps towards mobilizing and uniting, in order to have a greater influence on
decisions of law makers which are essential for proper economy functioning.
Educational institutions also bear a great responsibility in the education and
upbringing of personnel who are deficient in industries. As they concluded a surplus
of labor in certain occupation is a fact, and investing in the education system is a
priority.
-
Some of the steps towards the solution of problems in the economy are and cluster
formation, and manufacturers’ investment in the quality of branding, so that joint
forces can up-bring competitiveness in the domestic and in foreign markets. Also the
role of the legislative and executive authorities is pointed as highly important,
because without that help the fulfillment of the objectives will not be possible.
-
Forum on domestic production in BiH is an activity that is the result of student ideas
and activism, launched with the aim of Bosnia and Herzegovina's public and students
promote positive examples of Bosnian economy, and to encourage the
entrepreneurial spirit and business initiatives among young people. This initiative has
been recognized and supported by the general partners of the Forum, the Association
"Buy and use a homemade - quality produced in BiH ", which the 2004th year
actively works to promote the local economy and raising public awareness about the
importance of buying local products.
-
At the end of the Forum final point was that that solving new problems in society and
the economy, as a result of natural disasters that befell Bosnia and Herzegovina, is
possible only with support to domestic producers, whose strengthening will affect
company expansion, job creation, and therefore a comprehensive progress in the
country.
 Linguistic Club - Play 'A Doll's House' by Henrik Ibsen, 30.05.2014
-
An Adaptation of 'A Doll's House' successfully staged. With the direction of Ana
Tankosić a group of senior students at the English Department adapted screenplay of
Nora „A Doll's House“ by Henrik Ibsen and played a theater play for students and
staff of the International Burch University and guests on 30th of May. The play
raised a substantial amount of the money for the charity aimed at flood relief in
Bosnia, which was already given to charity institution.
-
PLOT: Written in 1879 by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, A Doll’s House is a
three act play about a seemingly typical housewife who becomes disillusioned and
dissatisfied with her husband.
After the play we had a chance to chat with players of two main characters, Nesrin
Elghezewi (Nora Helmer) and wldin Milak (Torvald Helmer).
-
-
“The process of preparation lasted about 6 month and it included working till late
hours of the day, but luckily we had a support form professors” they said at the
beginning of the conversation, and continued with expression of their special thanks
to National Theater for borrowing the costumes for the play.
-
Nesrin Elghezewi, as Nora, talked about her view of the character ”she (Nora) is
tormented between going into the world to find out who she was, and between
staying with her husband and children. In the original play she leaves, but in this play
it was left to the audience to interpret is she leaving or is she not.” Nesrin said that it
was challenging to play a main role because the text was very long, she had to
memorize over 60 pages of text, and also it was very stressful to be on the stage all
the time. A second reason why it was difficult are Nesrin’s feminist stand views,
which made her more difficult to play, as she said “a role of a women who was
stripped of her rights, and existed as a second class citizen at her own home”. Eldin
Milak, as Thorvald also explained his experience. “Torvald was demanding
character, mainly because he differs sharply from the modern day image of man; he
is oppressive and condescending to his surroundings. It is hard to sympathies with a
character like that and that is why is hard to play it as well”.
-
However thanks to a brilliant supporting cast and a well organized production and
direction, students managed to prepare a stage worthy adaptation, and received a lot
of positive feedback. On behalf of the cast Nesrin and Eldin expressed special thanks
to University management for their financial support to the professors at English
Department, and most notably professor Alpaslan Toker. Later, students were
received at the Rector’s Office by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Uzunoğlu, who
congratulated them and wished them more of success.
