PFE AUTOMAILER 5 TQM3 SET UP INFORMATION Issue 1 Issue 2 29th July 2005 8th August 2005 TQM Setup with Automailer 5 This document explains the setup procedure for using the TQM3 system with the Automailer 5 and the options available. Insure the TQM is selected in the AM5 hardware setup. To check this leave the run screen and go to Engineering, Hardware setup, Select unit zero, then select edit, then scroll to the bottom of the list under unit equipment and check TQM. Then save changes and send to unit zero. Go back to the run screen and press “Clear and restart” then close the M5go application. Then re-open M5go.exe. The TQM will now be selected in the hardware setup. Setting up Jobs to work with TQM Under the configuration screen select the output tab. From here you can select the output sequence mode required. (Fixed parameters for length (7) count start (1) and count direction (incrementing) 2 TQM Sequence read at output by OCR camera (parameters are selectable for length (1-7) count start (0 or 1) and count direction (incrementing or decrementing) 3 Label at Input Sequence is part of label read at input by AM5. C:\Documents and Settings\rbarnes\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3\TQM Setup with Automailer 5 issue2.doc Barcode/Label set up for Input Sequence Under the barcode/label setup screen, the function Output sequence/char defines the portion of the label used for the sequence. Sequence mode 3 requires the Output sequence/char start, length, direction and count start to be defined. Sequence mode 4 only requires the Output sequence/char start and length to be defined. Options are for Output sequence/char: Start position: Defines where in the label the sequence number starts (e.g. 4 means the sequence starts from the 4 character in the label) Length: The length is the number of characters in the label used for sequence (e.g. 7 means there are 7 characters used for sequence in the label) Under security the output sequence/char has 2 further options: Start: This is the rollover point when the sequence reaches its maximum (this can be either 1 or 0) Direction: This defines if the sequences increases or decrements with each document (options are incrementing or decrementing) C:\Documents and Settings\rbarnes\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3\TQM Setup with Automailer 5 issue2.doc Checkers Checkers can now be defined under the user set up screen. Checkers have no access/ability to run or programme the AM5. The checkers name and password needs to be defined and the role should be “checker” These checkers can then be logged on when a job is run that requires an output checker. This is set via the job screen. If a checker is present for a particular job then checking should be set to “checker required”. This is done on the run screen by selecting the user icon and selecting the checkers/operators names and entering the passwords When an operator or checker has entered their user name and password they will need to press exit to return to the run screen C:\Documents and Settings\rbarnes\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3\TQM Setup with Automailer 5 issue2.doc The following error messages will appear if the operator or checker is not logged on when the job is attempted to run. The operators and checkers name that is logged in for the current job is displayed on the run screen as shown Note When a job is complete or the logged in checker/operator changes then the previous users must log off (this requires their password to be entered) this ensures no false information can be sent to the TQM. Also this prevents a checker being logged in when a non-checker required job is run. C:\Documents and Settings\rbarnes\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3\TQM Setup with Automailer 5 issue2.doc Configuration Responses When the configuration is sent to the TQM by the AM5 it starts with<CNS> and ends with<CNE> (as per the protocol document). The AM5 expects the TQM3 System to respond with <CNO> or <CNB> if neither of these messages has been received by the AM5, before the run button is pressed then the following error message will be displayed. Please ensure the TQM system is powered on and ready to receive the configuration settings. Job Complete Message When the AM5 is idle (all operating messages have been sent) the reset <RST> command will be sent to the TQM. This tells the TQM that the job is complete and there is no more data for that job is to be sent. Note. If last EOG is diverted or removed from the AM5 then this data will be sent to the TQM after the Autoend is complete and before the reset command (<RST>) is sent. The reset command is the last command to be sent and signifies that no more operating messages will be sent. (All data from the current job has been sent to the TQM) C:\Documents and Settings\rbarnes\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3\TQM Setup with Automailer 5 issue2.doc Output Sequence On the run screen you view/set the next sequence number (depending on the sequence mode) The display shows the next PFE sequence number and the next TQM sequence number. Next PFE Sequence number: This is not settable it is a visual aid to show the next PFE generated sequence number Next TQM Sequence number: This needs to be filled in before the job can run (if the sequence mode is 3) This number is the first sequence number on the first document to leave the AM5 that will be read by an OCR camera on the TQM3 system. This number can be set during a job to re-correct sequence if necessary. Before the next TQM sequence number is set the value displayed will be –1. If the TQM sequence start number is not set then the following error message appears Note. The TQM sequence start position will be re-set after a job change and a clear and restart and will need to be re-entered before the job is run. (The PFE sequence will only re-set on a job change) Document set up for using AM5 with TQM When a new document is created to be run on a AM5 feeder its parameters are defined in the document set up screen. When the sizes of the document and the paper weight are defined, then the document thickness and weight are automatically calculated. This data is then passed to the TQM. C:\Documents and Settings\rbarnes\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3\TQM Setup with Automailer 5 issue2.doc When a new document is created to be run on a AM5 folder its parameters are also entered in the document setup screen. When the sizes of the document and the paper weight are defined, then the document thickness and weight are automatically calculated. This data is incorrect for the TQM and needs to be adjusted manually. Depending on the required fold the document will be twice or three times as thick as a single sheet. To correct this information de-select the autocalc and manually enter the thickness based on the fold (Example1: calculated document thickness is 0.11mm (210x297 80gsm) and the required fold is “C” fold then the final document in the envelope will be 3 thicknesses so the thickness needs to be set to 0.33mm. Example 2 calculated document thickness is 0.11mm (210x297 80gsm) and the required fold is “V” fold then the final document in the envelope will be 2 thicknesses so the thickness needs to be set to 0.22mm) Note. You cannot alter the number of pre folded leaves to adjust the thickness, as this will also alter the document weight. Error Recovery Information If windows crashes or the M5Go application is closed when there are documents on the track of the AM5 then insure the following procedure is followed to insure the integrity (sequence) is maintained. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Turn off the power to the Automailer 5 Remove all documents from the Automailer 5 Re-load the M5Go application Turn on the power for the Automailer 5 Wait for communications to be re-established Log the operator on Select the required job from the drop down list Log on checker (if required) Set Sequence start (IF Sequence mode is TQM) Press run Note: Ignore any messages relating to missing stats data or that certain job ids cannot be found AM5 Control of TQM3 The settings explained in this document allow the AM5 to set/control the TQM system. Giving the AM5 complete control over the TQM via the M5go user interface. All settings are sent to the TQM from the AM5 as per the Protocol document.
