This edition of Leitourgia will include all liturgical minister schedules from September 16 through Advent. Holy Hour for Vocations will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 4 in the church. FORMATION Foundations of Our Faith with John Cornwell...The deadline for registration is Thursday, September 6; just call the Parish Office, 896-0241. First meeting is September 10, with a look into the history and political dynamics of the Palestine in which Jesus lived and carried out His ministry. RCIA adapted for Children...This process, which happens after the 9:30 AM mass on Sundays, is how older children can become full members of the Catholic faith. They may need to be Baptized, receive First Communion and Confirmation. This is a formation process so parents are expected to attend when the children are in class. Call the Parish Office for more information. Sessions begin September 16. Here’s something new. CD's are available in the Gathering Space kiosk. Play them in the car or at home...when you are finished please return them so someone else can enjoy them. If it is something you might want for yourself the cost is $3.00 for each CD. Put your money in an envelope and mark it CD's. Feedback is appreciated. Call the Parish Center. PARISH OUTREACH Christ Chapel on the Backside We have an Outreach Opportunity, on the backside at Churchill Downs. Christ Chapel meets on Monday evenings and we have agreed to staff the children’s chapel on the third Monday of each month, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. We will lead the children in a Bible story and discussion, and a related craft. All lessons and materials are provided. Spanish speakers are especially welcome! THE 22ND SUNDAY of ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 2, 2012 OUR LADY of LOURDES MUSIC MINISTRY Men’s Choir OUR LADY of LOURDES PARISH CHOIR The Parish Choir welcomes adults, as well as high school and college students. Rehearsals begin on Wednesday, September 5 at 7:00 PM in the church. This choir will sing once a month, with rehearsals 45 minutes before liturgy. Come join us! Men’s Choir begins September 30 at the 11:30 AM liturgy. Women’s Choir Women of the parish are invited to sing once a month, with rehearsals 45 minutes before liturgy. Come sing with us! Begins September 30 at the 9:30 AM liturgy. Angel Choir will be offered for 5 & 6 year olds. Our Angels will sing for the Feast of the Holy Family on December 30. Rehearsals will be announced later...watch here. Lourdes Youth Choir Open to students in grades 7-12. Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. The Youth Choir will sing at masses about once a month, and for special liturgies throughout the year. Watch here for more info about rehearsal dates. Instrumentalists This ministry is open to all age groups. Instrumentalists share their talents at weekend liturgies and other liturgical celebrations. Rob and Karen Waddell, co-chairs of this year’s National Kidney Foundation Walk, invite you to join them in the Kidney Walk. The Waddell family's journey continues because one person made a difference in their lives. Rob, Karen, and their family take these steps to help make a difference in the lives of others who have been touched by kidney disease. Your cooperation is requested...Recently, we have noticed that our parishioners are being asked to financially help individuals and families in need after weekend masses. These individuals have been in the parking lot and in the church building. PLEASE DO NOT give these individuals money. Guide them to contact the parish office on Monday or to seek help at any of the area ministries; the closest one is St. Matthews Area Ministries. Our outreach to this kind of need is better served when we do NOT hand out cash and when we use the resources that the area ministries have available. PARISH COMMUNITY LIFE Holy Spirit’s Spirited Citizens will host the movie “The Descendants” starring George Clooney on Friday, September 14 at 11:30 AM in the Youth House. Bring a sack lunch. LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY PARISH COMMUNITY LIFE CPR Class...The Our Lady of Lourdes Health Committee will offer “The HeartSaver” course, which is designed to equip the lay person to handle emergency situations, from First-aid to hands - only CPR. Many marriages experience the first three stages, and marriages that end in divorce never make it to the fourth stage. Scott for a bus trip to the Kentucky Holy Land on Friday, September 21. Stops include Nazareth Motherhouse, St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, St. Catherine, St. Rose Priory, Loretto Motherhouse, Abby of Gethsemani, and St. Thomas. We will depart from the Parish Center at 8:30 AM, stop for lunch in Springfield, and return to Lourdes at approximately 6:00 PM. Cost for the trip is $21 per person (does not include lunch). Trinity High School Cross Country will host their annual All You Can Eat Spaghetti Dinner on Friday, September 7, from 5:00 – 7:30 PM in Alumni Hall. $7 adults, $6 students, and children 7 and under eat free. The St. X High School Drama Department presents “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, the classic Shakespeare tale. This play has it all - a story that involves star-crossed lovers, a band of fairies, a troupe of actors, magic, fights, and even love at first sight. Performances will be at 7:00 PM on September 15, 19, 20, and 22; and at 2:00 PM on September 16 & 22.
