The Shore Association invites parents to attend
an informal Lunchtime Seminar
HELPING YOUR SON COPE WITH EXAM STRESS
MONDAY 27TH AUGUST
1PM - 2PM
COLEBROOK ROOM @ SHORE SCHOOL NORTH SYDNEY
Experiencing anxiety during exams is normal - in fact
some anxiety will often help boys perform better in
exams! However, for some boys, normal anxiety can
cross over into unhelpful stress which has the potential
to interfere with their ability to study and fully apply
themselves in the exam context.
In this informal seminar we will be discussing the
difference between normal anxiety and unhelpful stress
and what every parent can do to help their son cope
with exam stress.
This presentation will be given by the
Psychologists of the Shore School Counselling Team
Numbers are strictly limited. To register your interest,

AMERICAN TEA
2 weeks to go!
Friday, 7th September
The American Tea is the Shore Association's main fundraiser and
is held on the first Friday in September each year. From its
humble beginnings, it has evolved into a wonderful day for the
whole Shore Community. Come along and play your part!

Homemade Cake Stall
Since 1940 the tradition of the American Tea is to bring a cake and buy a cake.
We would love you to continue this tradition. If you have a favourite recipe we
would love you to bake it for our stall.
Boys in Years 3 to 6 will soon bring home a decorated cake box. We would love
you to fill the box with whatever you - or your son - would like to bake:
Cakes
Cupcakes
Meringues
Slices
...Anything!!!!
On the front lid panel is your son’s name and year group. There is space for you to write the
contents of the cake box, eg Chocolate Cake. This helps us to find a particular child’s box or a
particular type of cake at the stall. The list of ingredients should also be included on the
underside of the lid.
Your son can then deliver the filled cake box to the Homemade Cake stall on the Chapel lawn
on the morning of the American tea. Mrs. Sue Wright will be judging the hotly contested “Best
Decorated Cake Box Competition” during the morning. Prizes will be awarded to boys in each
year group.
We really value your contribution to the 2012 American Tea!
Many thanks for your help.

Sandwich donations on the day made according to the following instructions:
• Use usual size square sandwich bread. Multigrain, wholemeal or white are all OK.
• After making the sandwiches, place them back whole into the plastic bag that the bread came in.
• Do not cut them up please.
• One type of filling per bag is best but not essential.
• Place a label on the sandwich bag and write on it the type of sandwiches that you have made.
The sandwiches stay fresh in their plastic bags until we are ready to cut them up at
the stall, and then serve them as a mixed plate of sandwiches.

A number of the American Tea
stalls have joined together to
provide a Fathers Day Stall. This is
a great chance for our students to
shop for the big day with more
spending power than the big stores
and at the same time support their
school.
Stalls including Sweets, Garden,
Gourmet and Shore Creative will be
selling a range of presents at lower
than retail prices. So please ensure
your boy comes to school prepared
on Friday, 31st August. They will
find us in the Undercroft from 8.00
till 11.00 am.
There will also be a Father’s Day
Stall at Northbridge for your sons
and daughters on Thursday, 30th
August; there will be enough gifts
for everyone to make a purchase.
Please take the time to browse
through our catalogue and make it
available to your children so they
come prepared!
