The High Flyer - Forthcoming Events - 18 March 2016
TERM 1 I 18 MARCH 2016 Dear Parents In an effort to improve communication between the school and yourselves, the Communications and Marketing Department is in the process of re-designing and, hopefully, improving the school’s various communication platforms. We are completing an audit of what is being/ has been used, what has and what hasn’t worked in the past, and what areas are of particular concern. Please note: ABSENCE: The parent/guardian must contact/email the relevant Tutor or Grade Head early in the morning and inform him/her of the student’s absence. It is not incumbent on the pupil to inform the school. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation in this regard. CONTACT DETAILS: Should your contact details change/ have changed (email or contact numbers), please inform the Pencilbox Administrator, Mrs Krisch at [email protected] . This will ensure that pertinent information is reaching you and our records are up to date. CONFIDENTIALITY: Parent information is kept strictly confidential. For this reason, we cannot distribute class/grade lists, email addresses, cell numbers, etc. As a school, we have undertaken to comply with all privacy legislation and regulations (e.g. the POPI ACT). Each Grade Parent Representative has been instructed not to entertain requests for information. We are currently working on a system that will not only protect your privacy, but will also allow you to decide with whom you want to share your contact information, and exactly how much information you want to share (e.g. email only, or cell phone number only). This pilot project will be launched in Term 2, so please look out for further details in due course. WEBSITE: The website will be undergoing a ‘face-lift’ during the April/May holiday, and will be up and running once again by the beginning of Term 2. For the moment, we ask that you do not refer to outdated information on the website. Fixtures, newsletters and other information will be emailed to you, or will be made available through the relevant departments. WINTER SPORTS CALENDARS: The Sports Department has introduced Google Calendars for the Winter Sports. Each sport has its own calendar, which will be updated regularly. We urge you to consult the calendar on a regular basis to keep abreast of all changes. We do ask for your patience during this transition period, and welcome any queries, comments and suggestions, which may be addressed to: [email protected]. We wish you well over the break and wish the families that celebrate Easter a blessed time. Regards, Melissa Lai Director of Marketing and Communications Please note that Term 2 starts on 4 May 2016 and not 3 May, as previously stated. The first day will be DAY 1 of the cycle. On 3 May, all staff will be at school, attending Professional Development sessions. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. ----------------------- Redhill School proudly presents its High School production, FAME JR! RESULTS AND FIXTURES HIGH FLYER: FORTHCOMING EVENTS 5 Help us build our children’s character, educate them about sustainability and develop a sense of community spirit. This is an appeal to all Redhill families to spare some of their holiday break to sort through their wardrobes for clothing that they no longer use. We would really appreciate any items of clothing – if slightly damaged, the clothes are sent to a sorting facility where they are cleaned and mended. Please remember to drop off you pre-loved clothing at the collection bins situated at both the Summit and Nursery School entrances. Remember to complete the form to stand a chance of winning various prizes.
