In 2010 he pursued retirement, but he continued to assist and support the Ohio Wildlife Department. Through the years James has published articles in the Fisheries Journal and the American Fisheries Society on Channel Catfish Management. At the end of each 9 weeks, students that displayed these positive decision-making skills were placed in a drawing to win a reward fieldtrip. This quarter's fieldtrip was to the Vandalia Rec Center, which was again sponsored by the Montgomery Sherriff's office and Larry Lane with the S.T.A.R.S. (Students Taking A Real Stand) program. All participants also received a certificate as gratitude for their positive choices. There were 186 students that qualified for the drawing.
