All AFC catalogues are available as downloads on our website at www.afc.gov.au INTRODUCTION Australian documentaries and TV drama programs have enjoyed continued international success since our last catalogue was published in March 2005. The Australian short documentary, Yellow Fella (d: Ivan Sen, p: Citt Williams, w: Tom E Lewis, Fleur Parry) screened in Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival, the first Indigenous Australian documentary to screen at this prestigious event. Other highlights included: • Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, screened Land Mines – A Love Story Story, the latest film from one of Australia’s most revered documentary filmmakers, Dennis O’Rourke. • Feature documentary Letters to Ali (w/p/ d: Clara Law, w/p: Eddie Fong) continued to grace international festivals, screening at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, Goteborg Film Festival and the London Australian Film Festival. • Nature documentary Crown of Thorns Starfish (w/p: Larry Zetlin) collected first prize at the Green Film Festival – International Festival of Environmental Films in Iran and first prize at Naturale, the 19th International Nature Film Festival in Germany. • Coming-of-age documentary, Big All at Once (w/d: Tina Havelock-Stevens, w/p: Samatha Jennings, Martin Williams) collected the Most Inspirational Film, as voted by the Youth Jury at the Reel to Real Film Festival in Canada. • The short animated documentary It’s Like That (Southern Ladies Animation Group) screened in the shorts program at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. • The children’s TV drama series, Wicked Science – Series 1, collected the Silver World Medal, Best Children’s Television Drama (International Television and Programming, Youth Programs) at the New York Festival. Wicked Science is produced by Jonathan M Shiff and Daniel Scharf and directed by Grant Brown and Richard Jasek.
