HOW TO REACH INFN FLORENCE IN SESTO FIORENTINO

- By car via the A1 highway: exit at “Firenze Nord” and go on towards Florence city. Exit at “Sesto
Fiorentino” and turn right before the first traffic light. Go all around the Novotel/Ibis hotel (the big
white buildings on your left) and at the traffic light turn left. Go ahead below the highway bridge and at
the road fork stay on the right towards Sesto Fiorentino. Go over the fuel station on your left and after
50 m turn right. Go ahead. The INFN building is the second one on your right.

- By train and bus from Florence central station (“Firenze Santa Maria Novella”): take a local train to
Firenze Rifredi station (5 minutes travel). Exit from the station in Vasco De Gama street (follow the
panels) and take the bus number 59 towards “Polo Scientifico” (timetable). Leave the bus at the last
stop (“Schiff” stop). The INFN building is 5 minutes walk apart:
A single bus ticket (but not train ticket) is valid for both the train up to Rifredi station and for the bus,
and vice-versa for the return trip. Tickets are valid for 90 minutes after validation, so you'll need a
ticket also for the return trip. Remember to validate the ticket at the validating machines at the train
platform before boarding the train, or immediately after boarding the bus during the return trip. Tickets
can be bought at kiosks or bars (ask for “biglietto Ataf”, ~ 1.4 euro each).
- From “Amerigo Vespucci” airport: the shortest way is to take a taxi (15-20 euro, 5 minutes drive).
Alternatively (~ 1 hour travel), take the shuttle bus to Florence downtown. The shuttle stop is on your
right when you exit from the airport terminal, near the taxi stand. Buy the ticket on board (6 euro). The
shuttle will leave you in the nearby of Santa Maria Novella train station. From there, follow the
train/bus instructions above (remember to buy a valid ticket since the airport shuttle ticket is not valid
for trains and other buses).
