We will be staying in the foothills of Florence at the Villa Bencista
just beneath the ancient hilltop town of Fiesole. Set amidst sixteen
acres of beautiful hillside gardens and olive groves, it dates from
the 1400s. The current owners are the Simoni family who have
managed the hotel since 1925.
!
We will paint throughout the many levels of Bencista’s inspiring
property. There are panoramic views of Florence with rolling hills
of silver-leaved olive groves punctuated by towering cypress trees.
!
We’ll travel into Florence to see the art and ancient architecture
of what many consider the cradle of western civilization.

We’ll take a 15 minute bus ride into Florence to view some of the most sublime architecture and the art of Michelangelo, Brunelleschi, Ghiberti, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, Titian and most recently the Italian impressionist known as the Macchiaioli. All residing in some of the most beautiful museums, churches, palaces and galleries such as: !

COST INCLUDES ART INSTRUCTION & GUIDED ART TOURS THROUGH FLORENCE AND FIESOLE:

There will be a total of ten days of painting instruction. Each day will consist of 4 to 6 hours of plein-air painting instruction, critiques,
and demos. (With the exception of two free days, when you can paint, explore Florence, hike, shop, etc.) We will visit various historic
churches, galleries and museums (i.e., Uffizi Gallery, Santa Maria Novella, Pitti Palace, etc.)

Participants are responsible for booking their flights and reserving their accommodations at Pensione Bencista as well as arranging
transportation to and from airports.

ACCOMMODATIONS: PENSIONE BENCISTA, FIESOLE.
Pensione Bencista is located in Fiesole which is just outside of Florence (15 minutes by public bus). We’ll be staying at the villa, Pensione Bencista
(www.bencista.com).
Breakfast is included in the price of accommodations at Pensione Bencista (see www.bencista.com, for sample menu). The dinner served is regional
Tuscan cuisine, (see dinner fee below).

Villa Bencista rates quoted for Andrew Lattimore workshop participants:

130 euros - double occupancy (includes breakfast) per day. Dinner (optional) is 20 euros extra per day.
70 euros - single occupancy (includes breakfast) per day. Dinner (optional) is 20 euros extra per day.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE:
$500.00 non-refundable deposit due February 28, 2014. Balance must be received no later than May 1, 2014.

CONFIRMATION AND PRE-TRIP ORIENTATION:

Written confirmation will be given to you within two weeks of receipt of your deposit. The painting group will meet for a trip orientation on
Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 3:00 PM. We’ll discuss the trip, plein-air art supplies, and all other pertinent information regarding the workshop.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS:
Notice of cancellation must be made in writing. The following scale of charges will apply after cancellation notice is received:

All deposits are non-refundable
•
Between 60 days and 30 days prior to departure there is a cancellation fee of 50% of the total price of the trip
•
Less that 30 days prior to departure the cancellation fee is 100% of the total price
•
Andrew Lattimore reserves the right to cancel this trip if there is low enrollment.
All workshop fees will be refunded
