Pink Ribbons
Helping to Educate & Give Hope
Coming this
Summer!
In 1993 Evelyn Lauder, of Estée Lauder Companies, founded
Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) and established the
Pink Ribbon as its symbol. The Pink Ribbon is easily recognized
as the symbol for breast cancer awareness and the color pink has
become well established with the cause. Each year breast cancer
charities use the month of October as their central focal point
for campaigning, fundraising and raising awareness not only of
their work, but of the disease itself.
Once Joyce found this unique fabric print, she knew she had
to create this beautiful Caroler® to help raise both awareness
and funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Byers’
Choice has also begun plans to host a fundraiser walk at the
factory on October 10th. We hope you will join us. To learn
more about the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. visit
their website www.NationalBreastCancer.org.
Byers’ Choice is in Full Bloom
Spring is finally here and the daffodils and tulips are in full bloom at Byers’
Choice. The Spring and Summer are wonderful times to visit our facility in
scenic Bucks County, PA. There is so much to see and do from exploring the
visitor center and Emporium to viewing production from our observation
deck. Be sure to spend some time outside enjoying the beautiful sculptures
in our manicured gardens. If you plan ahead, you can combine a trip to Byers’
Choice with one of our scheduled bus trips to either Hershey, PA or the Folk
Festival in Kutztown. On Friday nights in August, there will be a series of
free music concerts performed by the local Community Conservatory of
Music. A full list of happenings including event dates and times are posted
on www.byerschoice.com/excitingnews/calendar. Don’t forget your camera!

Cries of London
Woman Selling Fresh Eggs
In 1991, Joyce introduced the first figurine
in a new series entitled the Cries of London.
The inspiration for this series was drawn
from a collection of illustrations depicting
the street vendors who sold their wares in
the streets of Victorian London. One of the
reasons that this series has been so popular is
that the different characters are dressed in
non-seasonal outfits and can be displayed
all year round. This year’s piece looks great
in the kitchen. The Girl with Bird Nest and
Boy with Rooster complete the vignette.
Colonial Fall Harvest
The Witching Hour
Spooky Trees and a Haunted Gingerbread House complete our
scary ensemble of Witches, Black Cats and assorted Jack-o-Lanterns.

For more than 20 years, Byers’ Choice has been mailing our Caroler Chronicle© three times a year
to Caroler fans that have requested information about our company and unique handcrafts. It’s
been a wonderful way to keep both our stores and consumers informed of new designs, company
happenings and special holiday traditions that have been the inspiration for our products. With the
price of printing and postage on the rise, we’ve felt the need to scale back these mailings. To replace
the paper Chronicles, we will be sending interested consumers notices and updates more regularly
via e-mail. If you sign up to receive these electronic notices within the next month, you can receive
a $15 refund on your next Caroler purchase on our web store through June 30th, 2009. To register,
go to www.byerschoice.com and start shopping. You can register at the checkout and receive $15 off
your Caroler purchase today. The refund will be automatically applied to your purchase after your

Chocolate Santa
Do you know anyone who doesn’t love chocolate? Whether dark, milk or
white, chocolate is surely the favorite sweet indulgence that is consumed
most often as a special treat for any occasion. Over the years, chocolate
has been molded into different shapes and figures to be customized to
fit the specific holiday. Chocolate rabbits and eggs are popular during
the Easter holiday and hearts and cupids are gifted and consumed for
Valentine’s Day. During the winter months, chocolate is molded into
countless shapes and sizes of delicious Santa Clauses. Even after
Christmas, we look forward to that first steaming cup of hot chocolate
to warm us up after a day in the snow.
Chocolatier
Chocolatier’s Apprentice
Our Chocolatier sells his handmade chocolate confections
to the harried townspeople who are last-minute shopping for Christmas.
The Chocolatier’s Apprentice is training on the job and will master
the art of chocolate tempering, dipping and decorating.

fresh baked bread, dessert and the
finest wine!
Complimenting the chef is a must
after such a scrumptious meal!

Hostess
The holiday season is a time for celebration. A time
when friends and family gather together and give thanks
for their many shared blessings. It’s a time for music,
laughter, food and cheer. We all look forward to a good
holiday party filled with our closest friends.
Let’s give a special thanks to the Hostess. Hasn’t she
done a wonderful job sending out invitations, cleaning
the house, preparing the food and planning the festivities?
It is obvious that she has planned everything down to the
smallest of details including the perfect dress!
Some foods are most recognized by their taste. When I think of gingerbread,
its wonderful smell first comes to mind. The sweet aroma of fresh baked
gingerbread can fill a home with the warmth of the holiday season.
As a cookie, gingerbread can be rolled out into a thin sheet before it is cut
into an endless variety of cookie cutter shapes. Gingerbread man cookies
are fun for children of all ages to decorate, and even more enjoyable to eat.
More ambitious chefs will attempt to bake and construct a homemade
gingerbread house. These houses are typically held together with icing and
decorated with colorful holiday candies and cookies. What fun they are to
create and eat. If only there wasn’t the messy kitchen to clean up afterwards.
This year we have a variety of gingerbread themed figures from
our Traditional Family to our Olde World Gingerbread Santa. This Santa is
dressed in a warm brown robe and carries a basket of the traditional
holiday favorite—gingerbread!
At 3.5 inches tall, these Miniature Wax Gingerbread Houses complement
a wintry display in the kitchen or on the living room mantel.
