Keeping you informed!
Hello Everyone:
With this Spring issue of our
newsletter, I thought I would share
this incident with you.
Earlier today, a gentleman came into
our office to file a complaint about
service at one of our locations. I know
this guy and I ask him if he is being
looked after. He begins by saying that he will never return to a Tim Hortons again. That comment gets my attention
and I ask Bob what the problem is. He goes on to tell me about his past four visits to Tim Hortons. They were not
good - from cream & sugar in a coffee that he wanted black to a black coffee that was only ¾ full.
I asked Bob if we got his order right 50% 60% 90% and he said it was probably 90% but that’s really not that good.
Imagine if you sent your husband, wife, boyfriend or whoever to the Superstore and they come back with 90% of the groceries??? In this competitive
business we need to focus on GTOR (getting the order right) at all times. Other competitors have good product but we need to stay one step ahead of
them and complete, correct orders with smiles and thanks you will keep our customers coming back time after time.
Forty-five minutes earlier today I was pouring coffee at Grafton Street and made a small cream & sugar. The customer opened it up and asked if I
could fill it up. I said sure and poured another drop into the cup, remembering that the customer is always
right.
I’m no different than any of you and I want to be looked after each and every time I go into a restaurant or
store.
And to top it off, this same morning, I’m at the airport at 6:30 a.m. purchasing a ticket for a
flight and everyone I see is holding a coffee cup from Robins?? This makes me wonder to
myself … why?
Thanks for listening and thanks for caring.

CARING FOR KIDS:
WOW! What a great
success! On Thursday
& Friday, February 28 &
29, Islanders once again
showed their generosity
by raising $120,000.00 for
first ever I.W.K Radio-Thon
which was sponsored by
Tim Hortons and Sunlife
Financial. On Ocean 100
and K-Rock 105.5. over the two days we heard many
stories from families who have had to use the services
at IWK and what great care they received. We are
very fortunate to have this special facility. Once again,
thanks Islanders for your generosity!!

Still free. Now hot! Introducing the “ Hottest Bar in town!” featured at all Holiday Inn Express

biscuits. We are very excited about this initiative as it will further
enhance our position in the Charlottetown market by giving us a
tremendous competitive edge. Our guests are raving about our “ hot
breakfast” and this feedback further proves that we are a great hotel
brand that guest’s love.
Construction continues on our new Moncton Hampton
Inn & Suites property through these winter months.
We are seeing progress every day and are getting
very excited to start the interior finishes and designs.
A huge thank you to Martie Murphy who has been
pouring over sample books and swatches and putting
together what will sure to be an absolutely beautiful
warm and inviting hotel in Moncton.
Renovations also continue at the Charlottetown
Holiday Inn Express and things are looking great
at this property. Both the Charlottetown and Saint
John properties have recently launched the new Hot
Breakfast items to rave reviews by our guests. We
are very excited to have Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn
Express be a marketing partner with the upcoming
Irving summer promotion Crzn2Win.
The Super 8 is seeing great growth in their business
year over year. This has been a focus for Laura and her
team---congratulations to all as they start to see some very solid
repeat business.
I have recently had the opportunity to stay at a few hotels in
the region. There is no question that all of our properties have
that “extra touch”. Friendly and courteous staff coupled with a
warm, inviting atmosphere make our weary traveler guests feel
as though they have stepped into their second home. It takes
a lot of effort and dedication on behalf of the hotel staff and
management to create this atmosphere each and everyday and
a huge thanks goes out to all involved.

The newest “HOT BAR” in Saint John
Donna and Sue report overwhelmingly positive comments from our guests regarding the quality and selection of the new “HOT”
items – biscuits – bacon – sausage patties – omelets and scrambled eggs - as well as the wonderful “aroma” when they walk into
the lobby. With each new upgrade on our property, we look forward to continuing to be the best in the Saint John market.

news from Head Office
This time of year is a little crazy here in the office!
Year ends, budgets, T-4’s, etc keep everyone quite busy for the next couple of months. We have a great group here
in the office who work hard everyday to support the restaurant and hotel operations. They are an integral part of
the Corporate operations and I would like to thank them for their on going efforts, a lot of which happen behind the
scenes. We would also like to welcome our “Amandas” to the team! Amanda Doucette and Amanda Fitzsimmons
who have joined us in part time capacities. Our website is undergoing a freshening up and
Janice will be keeping things current with changes-so come visit often!

The Annual March Break ski trip to Quebec is scheduled again for this year. This
is the 14th year that Oak Acres has been able to take approximately 30 kids on the
skiing trip of a lifetime. In addition to attending skiing school, the children get to
tour the Parliament buildings, go the Ontario Science Centre and get to attend a
NHL hockey game. Debbie from the office has been instrumental in organizing
the event in the last couple of years and has become the on-staff chef for the trip! Many corporate sponsors
make this trip possible for Oak Acres to put on including, Tim Horton’s, ADL, Wendy’s, Irving, Brookvale Ski
Park and many others.
Plans and registrations are already underway for the 10th Annual Oak Acres Charity Golf Tournament in
June. Support is so strong for this event, we are making the leap to two courses this year. This is a very
important fundraiser for the Camp, and along with staff contributions to the Camp, fund the majority of
the Camp’s operating expenses.

IT’S WAAAY BETTER HERE! LOTS OF NEW PRODUCTS…
Wendy’s Chicken Go Wraps continue to sell well – homestyle, grill or spicy…a great convenient snack
any time of day. Wendy’s limited time new Premium Fish Sandwich has exceeded our expectations
and are selling so well. This will end soon as there may not be enough
supply but don’t worry this great sandwich will be back again later this year.

« CLIENTS EN PREMIER »
Wendy’s “CUSTOMERS 1st”
Bonjour,
Hi,
Murphy
Inc. sera toujours « LE CLIENT »
travail.

MARCH IS KIDNEY HEALTH MONTH
After reviewing the past year, it’s most important to congratulate and thank
everyone for what we do! With your smiles, wonderful courtesy and the way you do
things, our restaurants have out performed all increases across Québec once again in
2007.
Our guests are and will always be our number one priority for D.P. Murphy Inc. in
Québec and all across our company.
It’s also the reason that two of our four stores received the awards of number 1 Wendy’s
in Québec for two months in a row last November and December during our RDS program
and unannounced service evaluations.
I wish to thank and congratulate Javier and his team in Châteauguay as number 1 team in
Québec for November and also Josée and her team in Notre-Dame who performed the same
results for December.
Our four stores out of the 12 in Québec won 6 of the 9 prizes for the contest duration between
October and December of 2007. Something everyone must be extremely proud of, “Great Job
Team!”
In 2008, while we introduce our famous Folders Gourmet Coffee, which is just great and guests
love, we have even more to come before the end of April:
- Vanilla Frosty
- Mixed Frosty with Oreo or M&M
- Frosty Floats
- Frosty Shakes (Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry) For Québec and Ontario only as a test
Market for Wendy’s Canada.
- Coke Zero and Fresca
- Many promotional products as Fish, Spicy Baconators and more…
So let’s enjoy our success and continue to make our Wendy’s the number one restaurant of
choice in Québec!
