2012 ISSCA Nats Program
In conjunction with chartered club Present: CAR SHOW & SOUND-OFF DRAG RACING ROAD RALLY-Solo 1 AUTOCROSS And Much, Much More! The Impala SS Clubs of America (ISSCA) is about the Chevrolet Impala automobile and the pleasure of the automotive sport. Since its new beginning in 2009, the Members of ISSCA have been dedicated to the collection, preservation, modification and enjoyment of the Chevrolet’s Impala name badge. GM produced B body automobiles manufactured during the 1991 to 1996 production years remain the primary focus of many of the club members today, although membership is open to any enthusiast of the GM Impala badge from 1958 to present. Members have gathered at national car shows, enjoyed a host of racing events as well as communicated ideas from mild to wild on an internet forum. We are thankful to have a comprehensive network of vendors supporting us as well. Some local SS clubs are listed below: • Cali SS www.cali-ss.com • Grail St. Louis, Mo www.grail-ss.com/ • • Oasiss Northern Ohio The Herd www.theherd.com • Gassit http://bellsouthpwp.net/n/o/norm_c/gassit_home.htm • MiSSL www.missl.org • LiSST www.lisst.com • Possi http://ridingwithpossi.tripod.com • Wail Washington Area Impala Lovers 2012 ISSCA NATIONALS GATHERING INFORMATION Welcome to the 2012 ISSCA & MISSL National Gathering or “Nats”! The one-mile stretch between Six and Seven Mile roads was the first in the world to be paved continuously with concrete, and Woodward also was the first street in the country to use traffic lights. With many of Detroit's biggest landmarks–the historic Fox Theater, Ford Field, and Comerica Park to name a few–along its 21.5-mile stretch, the road is a focal point for many a Detroiter's daily routine. But nothing compares to the amount of attention the road gets in the third week of August every year. You see, that fateful week hosts the Woodward Dream Cruise, the single largest one-day automotive event in the world. Every year, millions of spectators come to watch as thousands of cars of all makes cruise down the historic road once home to countless impromptu cruises, races, and car shows in its heyday. **Photo courtesy of woodwarddreamcruise.com** PLACES TO EAT Want to eat at a restaurant featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives? Recently, Kid Rock and Guy stopped into the Union Woodshop and the Clarkston Union Bar & Kitchen. Both of these restaurants are located about 30 minutes North of the host hotel in Clarkston, MI. When you leave the Waterford Hills Road Course you’re only three miles away from Clarkston. At the Union Bar & Kitchen is known for their incredible Mac & Cheese. We’re talking classic comfort food. The Union Woodshop has a full menu, but you’ve got to try the house made bacon, hot links and smoked meats. The Woodshop even has a gluten free menu. Union Woodshop 18 S. Main St. Clarkston, MI 48346 (248) 625-5660 Clarkston Union Bar & Kitchen 54 S. Main St. Clarkston, MI 48346 (248) 620-6100 If you’re more of a Man vs. Food fan than the place for you is the Mallie's Sports Grill & Bar. At Mallie’s you can pick your burger challenge. You can start at the low end by eating a 3 pound burger in 15 minutes or bring along 19 friends and attack the 100 pound burger challenge. Mallie's Sports Grill & Bar 19400 Northline Rd Southgate, MI 48195 (734) 287-0800 We can’t talk about eating in Detroit without talking about Coneys. Who has the best Coney in Detroit? You decide. As the story goes, two brothers who founded American Coney Island got into an argument, and one brother opened Lafayette Coney Island next door.
