A Night in Havana: Inaugural North Texas

The fedoras, fashion, cigars and fabulous classic cars transformed the ballroom and pool at Hotel
ZaZa into a Cuban Soiree. “A Night in Havana” was CHILDREN AT RISK North Texas’ inaugural
Gala. Over 300 guests attended and raised over $200,000, which benefits the organization’s top
initiatives for children.
The scene was colorful and lively with salsa dancing, music by NRG Havana, Cuban cuisine, and
silent and live auctions.
A costume contest topped off the evening, with prizes awarded by the evenings’ top sponsor – U.S.
RISK Insurance Group CEO Randall Goss and wife Kara. It was tough to choose, but Shane Walker
and Mary Elizabeth McNeely outdid themselves and won gift certificates to Stephen Pyles new
restaurant San Salvaje.

CHILDREN AT RISK is a nonprofit organization that drives change for children through research,
education and influencing public policy. CHILDREN AT RISK is the only nonprofit organization that
is focused solely on the well-being of the whole child and proactively educates legislators on key
issues including human trafficking, public education, health and nutrition, and parenting.
