Pixie Lott Coverage date: 21 November 2014 Circulation: 822627 Page: 27 Pixie gig is Strictly for Scots fans POP babe Pixie brought the Lott to Scotland yesterday. The 23-year-old announced a new album, performed live and did some Strictly Come Dancing filming at the Radio Forth Awards in Edinburgh. And she took to the stage at the Usher Hall to shouts of: “Pixie Lott for the Strictly crown,” as the BBC show recorded her singing new single Caravan of Love. Pixie, who is tipped to win the show with partner Trent Whiddon, said: “It is the Charleston tonight which is my favourite dance. This is a proper show dance.” Judges Admitting she is struggling to score her second full 10 from the judges, she added: “It is really hard because I feel the choreography they give me is really fast.” Pixie also mourned last week’s loss of fellow contestant Judy Murray – because tennis star Andy’s gran would send in treats for the contestants. She said Judy’s mum, Shirley, made shortbread which “would just cheer everyone up. “I don’t know what we are going to do ® by GAVIN DOCHERTY without it. It was the magic that would keep us going.” British synth pop legends Erasure opened the Radio Forth awards show with their classic hit A Little Respect before being presented with the Forth Icon Award. Hot newcomer George Ezra, 21, landed a double win – Best Performance Award and Best Artist Award – before singing hits Blame It On Me and Budapest. The Hertford heartthrob admitted that since his success with his debut album Wanted on Voyage, he has surrendered his student rail card for the top-of-the-range tour bus for him and his band. “It is glamorous from the outside,” he said. “But 12 of us sleep inside like coffins.” And he said his absence from the new Band Aid Christmas single was down to a clash of dates. He explained: “Bob Geldof asked me to come aboard but I had a gig that day.” [email protected] The contents of the publications from which these extracts have been taken are copyright works and without prior permission of the relevant collecting society or save as permitted by statute may not be copied or otherwise reproduced (even for internal purposes) or resold.
