We’re proud…
Have you done your spring cleaning and have a pile of
useful items that you no longer need? Or maybe you
need an incentive to get started. Either way we have
an event for you. The 2nd annual North Haven Garage
Sale is taking place on Saturday May 9, from 10:00am

out to find some hidden treasures and socialize with
your neighbours. For more information please contact
Elise at 403-233-0092.
That you’re proud.
And happy.

We think Calgary’s a
great place to live.
And now you’ve told
us you think so too —
in the 2014 Citizen

As the people who
deliver the services
your family counts
on, that makes
us proud.
And what makes
us even prouder is
that you’re satisfied —
even very satisfied
— with the work
we do for you.
With the full range of city services
From drinking water and
waste collection to parks
and recreation, you say
you’re satisfied — and

Our annual Pancake Breakfast will be held this year on
Saturday June 13 from 9:00-11:00am. Another great
opportunity to mingle with the community and enjoy
some great pancakes and sausage. We are in need
of volunteers for this event. Shifts will be one hour in
length and there are many different jobs available.
Please call Elise if you can help.
We are still looking for community members to help us
organize and execute events for our 50th Anniversary
in 2016. If you are interested please contact me at 403284-9775.
Don’t forget - The NeighbourWoods Program is coming
to our community this summer and you can get
involved in this great opportunity. The City of Calgary’s
NeighbourWoods Program is a residential street tree
planting program that promotes a healthy urban forest
and encourages stewardship in our community. For
more information or apply to become a Residential
Tree Steward call 3-1-1 or visit www.calgary.ca/
neighbourwoods.
Finally, our Annual General Meeting will be coming
up in June. Keep an eye on the hall sign or the June
newsletter for the exact date. Everyone is welcome and
refreshments will be served. Come out and hear what
your board has been up to this past year.
I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming

Why: Why is shifting responsibility to
someone else called “passing the buck”?
Because: In card games, it was once customary to pass an item, called a buck,
from player to player to indicate whose
turn it was to deal. If a player did not wish
to assume the responsibility of dealing, he
would “pass the buck” to the next player.

2015 Tree Resource Fair
Series
The City of Calgary invites you to participate in our 2015
Tree Resource Fair series. These fairs are intended to
educate citizens about how to care for their damaged
trees, inspire Calgarians young and old to care about
the urban forest and demonstrate the various ways
citizens can access information about trees. We are
asking you to be a part of this as each and every one of
you has something to offer towards these goals.
Recovering from the 2014 September snow storm will
require us as a city and a community to look after our
trees. Preliminary estimates indicate the 50 per cent of
the 500,000 public trees and 1.5 million private trees
have been impacted. This means there are 3 times as
many damaged trees on private property as there is on
City land. We can’t do it alone; together we can help
educate citizens and restore Calgary’s urban forest.
We have four planned events:
• May 9, 2015 at Confederation Park
• May 17, 2015 at South Glenmore Park
• June 14, 2015 at Prairie Winds Park
• June 28, 2015 at Bowness Park
additional needs are the responsibility of the exhibitor.
Microphones and speakers will be provided for
scheduled talks. Traditional visual aids and displays are
encouraged as electronic screen displays have limited
effectiveness outdoors and power will be extremely
limited. All exhibitors are strongly encouraged to have
an interactive portion to their display that engages
parks patrons through all learning styles. The Tree
Resource Fairs are intended as learning opportunities,
so sharing information will be the primary focus. This
is also a great opportunity to profile your business/
organization to the general public, therefore limited
advertising and sales may be accommodated.
Complete the survey and register now!
Once you have registered through our online survey,
you will receive a confirmation letter and exhibitor
handbook detailing the logistics of your attendance.
