It is important to keep your bike locked at all times. • The best kind of lock to buy is a U-lock. • These will keep your bikes most secure and are extremely hard to break. • View an example of a U-lock at www.kryptonitelock.com/Products/List.aspx?cid=1001&scid=1000. To have a bike on campus, register it with the MSU Police online at http://olice.msu.edu/bikeinfo.asp. To register your bike, you must have the bike serial number. • The most common location for the serial number is on the underside of the frame, near the pedals. • You will also need to know the bike make, color and whether the style is male or female. • Upon registering your bike, you will be sent a bike permit sticker, which you must put on the bike. CATA Bus System The CATA bus system will take you around campus, and the Lansing and East Lansing areas. • You can purchase a bus pass at www.cata.org or pay each time you ride. • The CATA website also has route and late-night service information, and bus pass prices. Zipcars Zipcars are cars you can rent to travel around campus and the Lansing and East Lansing area. • You must have a Michigan driver’s license to rent a Zipcar. • After you register online, you can reserve a Zipcar, let yourself in with your Zipcard and drive for low hourly and daily rates. • Zipcars always include gas and insurance. • For more information and to register for a car, visit www.zipcar.com/msu.
