DELHI ADULT SCHOOL
Jesus Rojas was born in Costa Rica, Central America. He finished elementary School in 1981
and came to the USA in 1999. He currently lives in Hilmar California and is working as a
manager for a dairy farm. About a year ago he decided to enroll at Delhi Adult School to
accomplish finishing his GED. He worked very hard between his full-time job and coming to
night school in the evening. He wants to continue his education in college. Getting his GED was
just a stepping stone to his future ahead of him. His goal is to become an educator as a Math
Teacher. Mr. Rojas has begun to get engaged in the community at different levels. First, he has
become a sponsor of the Delhi Multicultural Festival by not just
donating his Hilmar Party Rental’s services, but also by meeting with our political
leaders. He joined a meeting with Congressman Jim Costa and he did not hesitate to
ask questions. It is clear that he cares for his community. We are very proud of him
and his accomplishments. Like he said, this is just a stepping stone. The future shall
bring him great prosperity.
MERCED COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION
Megan Leon started the new ROP Adult Foundations in Education Program on
November 9, 2015. Megan demonstrated a great desire to learn the skills necessary to be
an effective child care provider.
January 11, 2016 was Megan’s first day at Fairside Early Head Start in room 5 working
with the twos (24-36 month) classroom. Her site teacher Elvia Chavez, was the Master
Teacher for infants and toddlers. Megan’s site days were Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm. Her last day at site will be May 31, 2016.
Megan had an exceptional experience working with an outstanding Master Teacher and
her evaluations were of exemplary quality. She is outstanding working with infants and toddlers. Megan had the
opportunity to experience toddlers in the Early Head Start Program and to acquire the necessary skills to earn the
Merced College Articulation for 6 units of credit in the following classes; CLDV 30C Infant Toddler Curriculum – 2
units, CLDV 35 Infant & Toddler Development – 2 units, CDLV 35L Infant & Toddler Practicum – 2 units
Megan will be applying for her Child Development Permit from the State of California as an Assistant in an Infant
Toddler Child Care Program. Megan’s goal is to open her own Family Childcare Center. Megan was the Merced County
Regional Occupational Program - Award of Excellence - Winner
MERCED ADULT SCHOOL
Like anyone else, I had my share of obstacles that kept me from getting my diploma. I could
have used these obstacles as an excuse, but I chose to just get to work. It wasn't always easy,
but I got it done. I am fortunate to have the support of my mother who always believed in me.
I also had the support of my teacher, who created a good learning environment. He allowed
us to have fun, but also kept us on track. It made things so much easier for me. Thank you
Mr. Sobrevilla! To anyone thinking about finishing school, stop hesitating because you can
finish school. All you have to do is sign up, get started, and do the work. If you do that and
stay focused, you will succeed. ~Anna Gomez
