Nato a Milano nel 1936.
Laureato nel 1961 presso la facoltà di Architettura di Milano, dove ha svolto
sino al 1971 attività didattica all’istituto di urbanistica, quale assistente del
Prof. Bottoni.
Pino ha una vasta esperienza di oltre 50 anni sia nel settore dell’architettura
che nello sport. È riuscito ad associare la sua professione di architetto
con la carriera sportiva; ha infatti presenziato con ruoli diversi a numerose
Olimpiadi e progettato edifici olimpici (Torino 2006, Sochi 2014,
PyeongChang 2018 ecc).
Progettista in particolare di impianti sportivi pubblici; dal 1961 ad oggi
ha infatti progettato 15 centri sportivi-ricreativi e oltre 50 impianti (stadi,
piscine, palestre, sale polivalenti, attrezzature varie, ecc.), dei quali circa
due terzi realizzati.
Ha vinto numerosi premi e concorsi nazionali e internazionali di architettura.
Fondatore e Direttore dal 1976 della rivista “Impianti-sport-verdericreazione-piscine”.
Membro dello I.A.K.S. dal 1971 e Membro dell’”Executive Board”
dal 2001.
Membro d’Onore I.A.K.S. dal 2009.
Membro Emerito nella “Commissione sport, ricreazione e turismo”
dell’UIA (Unione Internazionale Architetti).
Ha partecipato a numerosi convegni nazionali ed internazionali come
relatore ufficiale e spesso come coordinatore.
Ha fatto parte del C.O.L. (Comitato organizzatore locale) di Milano per i
Campionati Mondiali di calcio Italia ‘90.
Ha realizzato nel 1993 il Dossier per la candidatura Olimpica di Milano
2000.
Gli è stata assegnata nel 1997 la massima benemerenza del CONI
“Stella d’oro al merito sportivo”.
Nel 2002 gli è stato assegnato l’Ambrogino d’Oro dal Comune di Milano.
Il Presidente Napolitano gli ha conferito nel 2011 l’Onorificienza di
Commendatore dell’Ordine “Al Merito della Repubblica Italiana”.
La Regione Lombardia gli ha conferito nel dicembre 2013 il “Premio
Lombardia per il lavoro”
ATTIVITA’ SPORTIVA
Dal 1994 al 2010 è stato Presidente CONI Lombardia del quale è
Presidente Onorario dal 2011; dal 2001 al 2005 membro del Consiglio
Nazionale del CONI.
E’ dirigente del CONI dal 1979; in particolare dal 1988 rappresentante SIS
(Servizio Impianti Sportivi) e membro di giunta nella delegazione CONI –
Lombardia.
Nella Federazione Italiana Nuoto ha svolto l’attività di atleta (fino al
1955), di allenatore (1956-1960), di dirigente di società, di consigliere
nazionale (1968-1976), di presidente della Commissione tecnica
(nuoto), di capogruppo responsabile per la preparazione Olimpica ed
accompagnatore della squadra nazionale alle Olimpiadi di Monaco
(1972) e di presidente della Commissione Impianti (1970-1972 e 19821987).
Ha presenziato a otto Olimpiadi estive e due invernali.

Born in Milan in 1936.
He took a degree in 1961 at the Department of Architecture of the
Milan Polytechnic, where he had worked as assistant to Professor
Piero Bottoni (Urban Planning Institute) since 1971.
Pino has an extensive experience eof over 50 years both in
the architecture and sport sector. He managed to combine his
architectural profession together with the sport career; he has in f act
participated to many Olympic games at various levels and designed
Olympic venues (Torino 2006, Sochi 2014, PyeongChang 2018 ecc).
He has specialised in the design of public sports facilities; from
1961 until now he has in fact designed fifteen sports and recreational
centres and over fifty other facilities (stadia, pools, gymnasiums,
multipurpose halls, equipment of all sorts, and so on), approximately
two thirds of which have been constructed.
He won numerous prizes and national architectural competitions.
From 1976 on, he has been working as the editor in chief of the
magazine “Impianti-sport-verde-ricreazione-piscine”.
He is Member of I.A.K.S since 1971 and Member of the Executive
Board since 2001.
Member of Honour I.A.K.S. 2009.
He is Emeritus Member of the Commission on Sports, Recreation
and Tourism of the UIA (International Union of Architects).
He has taken part in a number of national and international
conferences as an official speaker and frequently as co-ordinator.
He has participated in the C.O.L. (local organising committee) in
Milan for the World Cup Soccer Championships Italia ‘90.
In 1993 he was a member of the Promoting Committee for Milano
2000 Olympic Bid.
In 1997 he was awarded an honorary Gold Star for Sport Merit
by CONI
Milan municipality awarded him in 2002 the Ambrogino d’Oro.
President Napolitano awarded him in 2011 the honour of
“Commendatore of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic
The Lombardy Region awarded him in 2013 the“Lombardy price
for work”.
SPORTS ACTIVITY
From 1994 to 2010 he has been Chairman of the local Committee of
CONI in Lombardy. Now he’s Honorary Chairman.
From 2001 to 2005 he was a member of CONI National Council.
He has been a official of CONI since 1979.
In the Italian Swimming Federation, he has participated
successively as an athlete (until 1955), as a trainer (1956-1960),
as the chairman of a company (1968-1976), as the chairman of
the technical commission (swimming), and as the group leader
responsible for the Olympic team at the Munich Olympics (1972).
He attended eight Summer and two Winter Olympics.
