Christmas Hamper Program
The Christmas Hamper Program provides the
necessary groceries to prepare a Christmas
breakfast, lunch and dinner for both families
and individuals. The Program also provides
a family gift, stocking stuffers, and toys for
children 12 and under.
Last year, 1,546 hampers were distributed
to those in need during the holiday season.
Nearly 6,000 individuals benefited from the
Program which distributed $303,775 in food
and gifts. Our goal is to exceed this value
in 2012.
Your gift to the Christmas Hamper
Program will be put to work immediately
to help families in need during the
holiday season.
How your gift helps:
• $10 buys grocery vouchers to help
with the cost of food purchases
• $15 buys a stocking stuffer
• $25 buys a family gift
• $35 buys a toy for a child

Community Food Access Program
The Neighbour to Neighbour Centre Food
Bank provides emergency food for an
average of 1,200 families every month on
the Hamilton Mountain to those who have
exhausted their resources. One hundred
volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that
these families receive food from our Food
Bank each month. Clients are allotted
points based on the size of their family. The
points are then spent in the Centre’s Food
Bank, which is set up like a grocery store.
During someone’s first visit they will also
see a Neighbour to Neighbour Resource
Counsellor that will help ensure they are
linked to community resources to receive
further assistance.
We have expanded our Community Food
Access service to include Community and
Victory Gardens, so that we can offer fresh

“After being diagnosed with cancer, I
had to leave my professional career as
an accountant. Due to the severity of
my illness, it has proven very difficult to
find financial assistance and my savings
have since been exhausted. Since being
diagnosed, my diet has been drastically
altered and I am only able to eat certain
types of foods.
I came to Neighbour to Neighbour
Centre in a time of great difficulty in
my life, but the care I received from
the staff and volunteers was incredible.
Every time I have gone to Neighbour
to Neighbour for assistance, they have
saved the soft foods necessary for my
diet and have pointed me in the direction
of obtaining the assistance I require.
Thank you Neighbour to
Neighbour Centre!”

“As a single mother, I had to move from my home due
to domestic violence. On Christmas Eve of 2011, I found
myself with nothing to provide for my family. We had no
tree, no gifts, and nothing to eat. I did not know where
to turn and I did not have any place to go for help. Finally
I was directed to the Neighbour to Neighbour Centre.
After explaining my situation to one of their
counsellors, they quickly began to help my family.
They provided us with a Christmas Tree, gifts for my
children, and food to eat. If it weren’t for Neighbour to
Neighbour Centre we would not have had a Christmas.
Thank you Neighbour to Neighbour Centre!”
