When the UV index is over 9, UV-B is extremely strong and you will burn in less than 15
minutes. (Sunburn times are for light untanned skin, the times would be somewhat longer for
those with darker skin.) Even if you do not get a burn, you may still be damaging your skin.
Public Safety/Park Security Staff patrol the park in an effort to
ensure that your visit is enjoyable. If you have a problem contact
the park office or our 24-hour emergency service. Do not leave
valuables unattended or in open view.
Pets For the safety and enjoyment of others, please keep your
pets on a leash at all times. Pets are not allowed on cultivated
lawns and beaches. Dogs running loose or left barking in
campsites can disturb the enjoyment of other park visitors.
Wood Ticks Wood ticks can be quite numerous in May and June.
To deter wood ticks, wear long pants with socks pulled up over
pant legs. If walking through tall grass or bush, thoroughly check
your body after your excursion. Also, check your pet.
