Forest County officially has another ATV
trail. On Saturday
morning Forest County
ATV Association members, representatives
from the DNR, Forest
County Forestry Department and various
members of local and
state government gath~-tRe-WG1f.Rw
State Trail head to offici/illy open the new
trail.
County Forest Administrator Dave Ziolkowski remarked at
the ribbon cutting ceremony how lucky Forest
County was to have a
new trail, the second
one this year, during
the tough economic
times.
"ATV trails are getting tougher and
tougher to build," he
said.
The Wolf River State
Trail was an abandoned
railroad corridor starting in Langlade Couhty's White Lake and

the Wolf River State Trail ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday. )
running through southern Forest County to
Highway. 8 in the city of
Crandon. The trail is approximately 14.4 miles
long in Forest County.
The trail connects to
Langlade County, which
will offer an additional
14 miles, but the
Langlade County portion of the trail is stili
under construction.
In addition to ATVs,
the trail is approved for
hiking, biking and
snowmobiles. Horses
may be given approved
for the trail in the near
future. UTVs will have
temporary use from
May 1,2010 to June 30,
'2012.
. The trail will be open
for public use year
round except during the
annual spring closure,
starting the day of the
county-wide close of
snowmobile trails until
May 1of each year.
The trail was completed in about two months,
according toZiolkowski, and is in excellent
condition.·
