Dear Friends,
Apart from some extremely cold days, I think I’m safe in saying
that this winter was kind to us. That being said, the recreation part
of recreation happens best in warm sunshine so we welcome
spring and summer with open arms. Having been the Department
Director for the last six months, I have seen both trials and
tribulations. Ultimately all of my experiences have been a joy. One
of my best joys, though, has been to welcome many new staff.
They are a talented and enthusiastic group ready to make YOUR
recreation and senior programs all they can be.





This October welcomed Pat Rossiter to the Recreation
Supervisor Position. He has many, many great ideas for
programming, trips, and camps to keep everyone active and
involved with a wide range of opportunities.
Kathy Poston joined us as Senior Program Coordinator in
January. Many seniors will recognize her as our former cook.
Already familiar to many, she also comes to us with many
resources to serve the community.
Kerry Haynes started in February, and Kerry comes with an
extensive background of working with the elderly, non-profit
management, program and event planning, and has been
working hard to get to know all our current seniors and hopes
to meet many more in the coming months.
Antoinette DeLizio just recently joined us as Cook. She comes
to us with a wide range of experiences in food service and
puts her warm personality into everything she cooks.
Mary Lyons continues to keep things working with her
remarkable administrative skills and answers to all the
questions.
Some new faces and some familiar faces, we are working hard to
make YOUR Parks and Recreation Department and Community
and Senior Center a great place to get fit, learn a new skill, get a
delicious meal and meet friends and make new ones. I’m
confident in saying it is a joy to all of us to serve the North
Branford Community, but we can’t do it alone. It takes you! It takes
your thoughts and ideas, your feedback and your praise. Do not
hesitate to reach out to us. This brochure reflects many of your
thoughts and ideas! You will find both old favorites and new
offerings as well. We all look forward to serving you.
Sincerely, Lauren Munro, Director

Information for Kidz Kamp CIT Applicants
CITs (Counselors in Training) have always played an important role at camp and it is no different at Kidz Kamp. CITs
preserve traditions, are bridges between campers and counselors, and they have energy and enthusiasm in ways the
adults sometimes can’t. They also find themselves in an awkward position: not a typical camper and not quite yet adult
staff. It takes a special person to walk that line, and that could be you.
Can you tell when it is time to work vs. time to play? Can you look at a situation and see the safety of
the campers before anything else? Are you ready to be a leader and take responsibility for others?
If you answered yes to those questions, then we want you! We often have more applicants than spots available, and some people are
more ready than others. Not everyone will be able to be a CIT. There are several steps to becoming a CIT:
1. Check to make sure you are entering grade 9-11 next school year.
2. Fill out an employment application form. We know you may not have a lot to enter in terms of your work experience, etc. but just
3.
4.
5.
do the best you can. It’s good practice and gives you a chance to think about what you have accomplished. (The CIT applicant
should be filling this out. We are sure you have wonderful parents, but THEY won’t be working with us!)
Write a paragraph or two about why you want to be a CIT. It looks like fun, and it sure can be, but it also has responsibilities, and
camp is NOT necessarily for YOU to have fun, it is for the campers to have fun and be safe. That is the most important thing.
Complete a registration form so we have emergency contacts as well as your preferred sessions. Please note, we generally only
allow CITs to attend two sessions. List as many sessions as you like with an order of preference. We will do our best to give you
the session(s) you want. (It is first come, first served.)
Return all forms with payment for the number of sessions you want to attend. ($70 per one-week session)
To get an application packet, please visit the community center. Once we have all of your information, we will schedule a time for
interviews.
