Stampede Class Descriptions FRIDAY, MAY 4, 2012 12:30 – 2:30 pm, Mega Fun with Backgrounds Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church Community Room Instructor: Sarah Justison/The Paper Cut Create 8 cards using die cut cards from The Paper Cut and Impression Obsession’s background stamps in layers to create beautiful, complex patterns quickly and easily. You’ll be amazed at how versatile these stamps are when used in combination with each other. Your background paper will compliment your stamped images perfectly! No more trying to find patterned paper to “go” with your projects, because……you can make it yourself! STUDENTS SHOULD BRING: Favorite Adhesive and Scissors CLASS FEE: $34.00 LENGTH OF CLASS: 2 hours 1 - 3 PM, MAX # of STUDENTS - 36 Fantastic Embossed Glass Jewelry Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church Multipurpose Room INSTRUCTOR: Sandi Obertin/Creative Arts by Obertin This is one of Sandi’s newest inventive classes and it’s definitely technique driven. During this class we will be working with Rubber Nature ArtStamp texture mats and glass blanks. We’ll turn the plain glass blanks into gorgeous textured and embossed glass accents. Once the accent pieces have been created, Sandi will teach you how to enhance and finish your textured accents with “soft wire” and beads turning your accent pieces into gorgeous one-of-a-kind pendants or pins! Everyone should be able to complete two or three pieces during the class. (If you don’t finish, you may take the supplies home to complete your projects.) STUDENTS SHOULD BRING SCISSORS and if possible, jewelry pliers – round nose, flat nose & wire cutters. All art supplies will be provided. CLASS FEE: $39.00 SKILL LEVEL: All skill levels are welcome. MAXIMUM # OF STUDENTS: 18 3 – 5 pm Step It Up … Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church Community Room INSTRUCTOR: Sarah Justison/The Paper Cut ....with our Stair Step Cards - both Inners and Outers! This is the newest of the Paper Cut’s fun die cut cards, in 2 different styles, and again, one that you would want pre-cut and scored, rather than having the headache of hand doing it! See how easy and fun stamping can be when all of the hard work is done for you! You will leave with 6 finished cards with envelopes, that you can decorate to match! It’s Woven Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church Multipurpose Room INSTRUCTOR: Sandi Obertin/Creative Arts by Obertin During this class you will have the opportunity to work with Rubber Nature Weaving Stamps and create as many woven cards as time allows. Woven cards make perfect greeting cards for any and every occasion… even those extra special occasions. Gorgeous designs are fun and easy to create with Sandi’s weaving stamps! STUDENTS PLEASE BRING: a pair of scissors, metal edge ruler, art knife & cutting mat, adhesive: double stick tape or glue dots… Optional: acrylic mount/s (3” x 3” or larger) for use in class. All other art supplies will be provided. SPECIAL NOTE: All class participants will receive a FREE small unmounted cling cushioned weaving stamp. CLASS FEE: $39. MAXIMUM # OF STUDENTS: 18 All skill levels are welcome. 6:00 - 10:00 pm, Round Robin Community Room, Shepherd of the Lakes Church INSTRUCTORS: The Paper Cut, Touche, The Mark-it Place x 2, The Stamp Shoppe, Stampin’ Up Six stations, 6 different instructors and 6 mini classes over a 4 hour period. Each mini class will be 30 minutes long. At the end of 30 minutes, students will rotate to the next instructor table to complete that project in 30 minutes and so on until students have completed all six projects. STUDENTS SHOULD BRING: Enthusiasm and energy....all other materials and supplies will be provided, including snacks, coffee, soft drinks and door prizes--what a great way to begin your creative adventure at the Stampede! CLASS FEE: $35 MAXIMUM # OF STUDENTS: 60 SKILL LEVEL: All levels SATURDAY, MAY 5, 2012 5:30 to 7:00 pm Town Hall INSTRUCTOR: Moving Card Class Carolee Crabb, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstator Your greetings will be a moving experience with these creations! Students will learn how to create three cards with moving elements. The birthday card has three layers that pull up from the top to reveal additional images and greetings. The Mother’s Day card has a tricky fold that uses both sides of the two-sided designer paper and reveals messages that are under the flap on the card front. The inside is a traditional card with greeting. The third one will be a surprise --- I never know what the "latest" thing will be as I write this! Each participant will have product left to be taken home to use in future projects. STUDENTS SHOULD BRING: Favorite adhesive. CLASS FEE: $19 MAXIMUM # OF STUDENTS: 12 5:30 to 7:30 pm Copic Technique Book Community Building INSTRUCTOR: Kamila Younkman - a muse studio Create your own Copic Technique book! Intermediate Certified Copic Designer, Kamila Younkman, will walk you through several popular coloring techniques. Topics covered include deciphering the color families, blending, shadowing, special effects and much more. At the end of the class you'll leave with a bound book of techniques to use as reference. STUDENTS SHOULD BRING: Preferred adhesive. No markers are necessary, however if you would like to bring your own please clearly mark them with your name. Helpful colors would include 0, BG10, E00, E33, E37, RV10, RV13, W2, Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17, YG03, YR04 & YR16 CLASS FEE: $29 MAXIMUM # STUDENTS: 10 SKILL LEVEL: This class is best suited for students who have basic stamping experience. No previous Copic knowledge is required. CLASS EMPHASIS: Stamping/Coloring 7 - 9 pm The Box Office Town Hall INSTRUCTORS: Jill Lemke & Jeanne Schmidt, The Mark-it Place Decorative boxes are always a hit production! Imagine using this book box to hold greeting cards or perhaps as a gift box! Add stamping and decorative embellishments and you have an Academy Award winning performance! This book box is made with book board, linen paper, decorative papers and embellished with stamping and Idea-ology trinkets. STUDENTS SHOULD BRING: all materials provided CLASS FEE: $35 MAXIMUM # OF STUDENTS: 12 SKILL LEVEL: All levels welcome SUNDAY, MAY 6, 2012 8:30 – 10:30 am, Polymer Clay Pendants & Beads Community Building INSTRUCTOR: Sandi Obertin of Creative Arts by Obertin This class will focus on elegant special techniques for polymer clay. Sandi will teach students how to incorporate texture via deep etched Rubber Nature ArtStamp mats and clay molds. Sandi will teach you how to enhance your clay designs with color, metal, glitter, gold & silver leaf, crystal and bead accents. Encasing polymer clay and finishing techniques will be covered. Everyone should be able to finish two pendants and several beautiful beads during the class. STUDENTS SHOULD BRING: handy wipes, scissors, art knife (ex: Exacto) All art material supplies will be provided including findings. CLASS FEE: $40.00 MAXIMUM # OF STUDENTS: 30 SKILL LEVEL: All skill levels are welcome. 10 - 12 Pm, It’s All in the Accessories Town Hall INSTRUCTORS: Jill Lemke & Jeanne Schmidt, The Mark-it Place Mixed metals in jewelry is still the fashion rage. We’ll be working on fast and easy wrapped filigree elements around metal plates and clear fragments, embellished with semi-precious beads and findings to create a pendant and two pair of earrings. We’ll also create a metal etched pendant piece from a stamped design. STUDENTS SHOULD BRING: Jewelry pliers, if you have them. CLASS FEE: $35.00 MAXIMUM # OF STUDENTS: 24 SKILL LEVEL: All skill levels are welcome. 11 am – 1 pm, Watercolor Techniques Community Building INSTRUCTORS: Lynn (Mr. O) & Sandi Obertin of Creative Arts by Obertin During this hands-on technique driven class you will have the opportunity to work with watercolor cake style paints and to experiment with a wide range of watercolor techniques. Mr. O will provide technical and traditional watercolor technique instruction while Sandi/Mrs. O will share special effects information and techniques. Watercolor is a perfect medium for rubber stampers, scrapbookers and other paper artists. You will have the opportunity to create several swatch samples using the various techniques taught so you will be able to refer back to the samples after class. STUDENTS PLEASE BRING: a pair of scissors. All art supplies will be provided. CLASS FEE: $44.00 MAXIMUM # OF STUDENTS: 30 SKILL LEVEL: All skill levels are welcome. 1 – 3 pm, Set in Stone Town Hall INSTRUCTORS: Jill Lemke & Jeanne Schmidt, The Mark-it Place Jill spent way too much money to buy a clay pendant that she realized she could make herself! Students will make their own version of this pendant using polymer clay, metallic inks, soldering and beads and charms. All materials will be provided to complete your necklace. We’ll have someone experienced in soldering to help us with that process. STUDENTS SHOULD BRING: Jewelry pliers, if you have them.
