YOUR BUSINESS CAN HOST LIVE PERFORMANCES
SAN FRANCISCO is a world-class destination for nightlife, generating over
$4 billion dollars for the local economy every year.
Live performances – including musicians, DJs, poetry readings, comedy, and more – aren’t just for
nightclubs and theatres. Live entertainment can also help your cafe, restaurant, bar or art gallery attract
patrons and showcase your commitment to local arts and culture.
Until recently, it was expensive and complicated to get a permit to add live performances to a restaurant,
cafe, bar or art gallery. Now, your business can host exciting live entertainment until 10pm every night of
the week through the affordable and easy-to-use Limited Live Performance (LLP) program.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT ADDS VALUE TO YOUR BUSINESS
If you own a cafe, restaurant, bar or art gallery, your business could significantly benefit from
adding live entertainment.
Live performances:
• Attract new patrons to your establishment;
• Keep patrons for longer periods of time;
• Distinguish your business from your competitors;
• Identify your business as a supporter of local performers; and
• Contribute to the cultural enrichment of your community.
IT’S EASY TO GET A PERMIT FOR LIVE PERFORMANCES
step
1
Submit a completed
LLP permit application to the
Entertainment Commission.
The entire Limited Live Performance permitting process
usually takes just two months or less and the application
only costs $405. That’s significantly faster, cheaper, and
less complicated than a full Place of Entertainment permit.
step
2
Post a notice
on your premises for
30 days.

The Entertainment
Commission will review and
approve your application
at a hearing.

PROTECT YOUR ABILITY TO HOST ENTERTAINMENT
A Limited Live Performance permit is a simple, affordable way to protect your ability to offer live
entertainment in your business. If you have live musicians, DJs or other performances without a permit,
your events could be shut down and you could be fined.
