This project contains a total of 98 apartments for senior citizens
in various categories and sizes including the necessary support
facilities.
The design is centred around a landscaped courtyard which
functions as a community meeting and recreation space. The
two building blocks enclosing this courtyard are connected to
each other by means of a common stair and lifts and contain
42 and 56 apartments respectively. The 42 apartments are for
residents who need daily help and care while the other 56 are
for more independent use.
Some parts of the ground floor provide facilities for the residents, like a canteen, storage spaces, visitors apartments etc.
A day centre is located in the courtyard in the form of a separate
“pavilion “.
Brick is the main facade material and in combination with concrete and glass, the architectural expression is dynamic but at
the same time friendly and non-intimidating.
