JING BANG CITIZENSHIP
Established in 2014, "Jing Bang: A Country Based on Whale" is an independent country founded by
the world’s first magician. Our country sits on the back of a giant whale, its ephemeral existence derives
its name from the temporary emergence of a whale surfacing for air. This new body of work includes
paintings, posters, flags and citizenship briefcase, shaping the basis of this country. 'Jing Bang' is
governed by a unitary, self-elected, single-party system called 'The Magicians Party'. It does not have
an economic or a political infrastructure and relies heavily on the new citizenship fees to generate its
sovereign wealth. 'Jing Bang' offers people respite from their home country. There are no restrictions to
expression. In fact, the determination of the country’s socio-political topography is inherently tied to
ideologies of intellectual liberation and creative expession. Registration for citizenship is now open.
