Odyssey Female Sale. A.L.P.A.C.A. was established in 1996. We are an enthusiastic group of alpaca owners who collectively promote the Canadian alpaca industry, the well being of alpacas and the appreciation of their fibre. Our purpose is to create an environment for small and/or large producers with equal opportunities in today’s ever changing market. Our club has a membership of approximately 40 farms. We are proud to be offering 21 top quality female alpacas from consignors from the three western provinces: British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. These excellent females were selected by a special committee for their conformation and fleece qualities . As you can see, there is a good variety of color to choose from. All alpacas will be veterinary checked for breed standard disqualifiers the day prior to the sale. They are also all guaranteed by the owner to be reproductively sound. Last year’s sale was broadcast live, via internet, with Western Livestock Exchange www.wlex.ca. We were very pleased with the results, so Mark Shologan from WLEX will be back again this year. There will be a parade of the sale alpacas at noon on Saturday, November 7th and Mark will be broadcasting this live, so you can preview the animals prior to the sale. Sale time is set for 8 P.M. on Saturday, November 7th, 2009. See you there... but, if you unable to attend and would like to bid, you may contact Mark Shologan from WLEX – at 780-699-5089 for phone-in bidding or internet bidding. The sale is being held in conjunction with our annual A.L.P.A.C.A. Odyssey Show and the Alpaca Canada AGM and Conference and the Canadian Llama & Alpaca Association AGM. This show is one of the largest in Canada and this year, by combining it with the sale, we anticipate it will be even larger. There will be Halter classes, Get of Sire, Produce of Dam and Breeders Best 3 competitions. We are also giving out prize money to 5th place as well as Championship classes.
