This year’s meeting, Practice-Based Learning: Learning From Our Experience, will demonstrate CREOG and APGO’s continued commitment to you, your medical school, our learners and our patients. The goal of the meeting is to help
you become an even better women’s health teacher and leader while fostering increased excellence in medical
education. You will be able to explore the benefits and opportunities of collaborating with each other along with
colleagues in other disciplines, professions, institutions, and countries.
In our continued effort to be more environmentally focused, the meeting program/syllabus will again be available
online. A flash drive with program highlights will be distributed onsite to all meeting participants. In addition, evaluation forms will be available online.
We extend our appreciation to the program co-chairs, Lee A. Learman, MD, PhD, and Roger P. Smith, MD, for their hard
work in developing an exceptional meeting program. A special thank you goes to our supporters for their generous
contributions to the success of this year’s annual meeting.

Welcome Reception
The Welcome Reception will be held on Wednesday,
March 3, from 6:00pm-7:00pm in the exhibit hall, Floridian D-L. All meeting registrants are welcome. Guests may
attend for a fee: Adults $25.00, Children (6-12) $10.00. Commercial and educational exhibits and posters will be displayed. Strollers are not allowed in the exhibit hall at any time.
A badge is required.
CREOG & APGO Awards and Graduation Luncheon
This year the awards and graduation ceremonies will be
held on Friday, March 5, 2010 during the CREOG & APGO
Luncheon. Weather permitting the luncheon will be held on
the beautiful Bonnet Creek Convention Lawn. Dessert will
be served in the exhibit hall. Guests over 16 are invited to
join meeting attendees at the luncheon. A ticket is required.

Plenary Sessions
This year’s Wayne Johnson Memorial Speaker is Seth
Lieberman from Leadership Breakthroughs, LLC. Leadership
Breakthroughs develops executives and aligns teams to

scientists and medical doctors build on their experience,
innate curiosity and intelligence to grow their leadership
capacity.

companies, teaching hospitals, and a highly-ranked comprehensive cancer center. They believe that up-front assessment and understanding of organizational initiatives create

Using data collected from the APGO and CREOG membership, Mr. Lieberman’s presentation, “Unique Ways That MD’s
Lead and Learn to Lead” will: 1) Identify common strengths
of MDs in serving as leaders; 2) identify leadership pitfalls to
which MDs are most vulnerable; and 3) understand several
approaches to move past these leadership pitfalls.
Joanne M. Conroy, MD, Chief Health Care Officer for the
Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) will be
our second opening keynote speaker. Her presentation,
“Training the Medical Workforce of the Future: Drivers and
Demands,” will review the economic and political factors that
have shaped our current medical workforce and will discuss
the necessary characteristics for the physician of the future.

Medical Student Educators’ Luncheon
The Medical Student Educators’ Luncheon will be held
Thursday, March 4 from 12:30pm-1:30pm in Bonnet Creek
Ballroom Salons I-II. Lawrence J. DeLucas, OD, PhD, DSc,
will present “Space Flight and Space Exploration.” He will
discuss his personal experiences flying on the space shuttle,
Columbia, followed by his views as to the benefits of space
exploration.

Luncheon attendees will become familiar with the requirements to become an astronaut, what it is like to fly in space,
and the benefits of space exploration. A ticket is required.
CREOG Regional Luncheons
Each of the five CREOG regions will conduct a luncheon
meeting for program directors and coordinators on

Joint CUCOG/CREOG/APGO Session
The Joint CUCOG/CREOG/APGO Session will be held
Friday, March 5 from 9:45am-10:45am in the Bonnet Creek
Ballroom Salons VII-XII. William F. Rayburn, MD, MBA, will
present “The Changing Landscape of Academic Obstetrics &
Gynecology.” Dr. Rayburn’s presentation will describe how
the ‘right number’ of medical students are chosen and what
percentage pursue residencies in obstetrics and gynecology;
how change in graduate medical education is essential to
addressing obstetrician-gynecologist workforce issues; and
how faculty in obstetrics and gynecology have led in the
changing landscape of academic medicine.

e-medical records, e-order entry, e-laboratory results, e-mail,
e-manuals, e-orientation, and e-curriculum content. So how do
we address these new modes of communication while embracing
or distancing ourselves from such entities as Gmail, Facebook,
YouTube, Twitter, and powerful search engines such as Bing,
Google, Yahoo, and MSN? The session will utilize instantaneous
digital audience feedback to promote group participation as each
panelist will present their perspective.
