Teachers schedule their classes to use the Library for research projects.
Students use Library resources during those times and access
databases, ebooks when outside the Library.
Students with free time may sign in. There are always computers and
seating for students working independently; total seating and
computers available depends on class use.
Students with assigned studies obtain Library passes from study teachers
Before School: 7:30 to 8:00 AM Reserved for silent study; computers are
available for academic use.
After School: The Library is open until 3:30 (3:00 on Fridays).

“NoodleBib” is a free account but it will not do complex citations; sign up
for a school account.
HOW DO I RENEW MATERIALS or PLACE A HOLD?
To RENEW, open the Catalog, click on “My Library Info” tab at the
top; enter your last name and student ID. Login and Renew by
following directions
To place a HOLD on materials that are checked out, first locate the
desired resource in the catalog. Click on the “HOLD” button on the
right. Enter your last name, student ID.
N.H.S. TECH Frequently Asked Questions
ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
Prior to using any school technology (i.e., computers, audio/visual equipment,
etc.), you must sign the AUP. The AUP is located and kept on file at the library.
HOW TO SAVE WORK FROM HOME
The school computers are unable to open .docx, or .pptx files.
If you have a newer version of these programs, you must ‘save as’ an older
version of the program. It should be a .doc or .ppt.
The school computers have iWork ’08 installed. If you have a newer version at
home, you must save your file as an iWork ’08 document.
If you email work to yourself, please be sure to save your document and then
quit the program before attaching it to the email.
GOOGLE APPS @ NHS
Each student has a Needham Google Apps account. The applications include:
Google Docs (word processor, spreadsheets, and presentations), Google
Calendar, Google Contacts, and Google Sites.

PERSONAL LAPTOPS AND DEVICES




Personal devices may only be used for academic and instructional
purposes and with teacher’s permission.
If you are connecting to the wireless network, you must have a signed AUP
on file at the library.
Personal devices cannot be connected to a printer. To print, transfer your
files to a school computer using a flash drive or email.
School staff will not provide technical support or peripheral equipment.

We have wireless network available for use in the school. You must sign the
Wireless Network Addendum to the AUP, located at the library and on the
Needham High webpage.

HOW TO BORROW AUDIO VISUAL
Audio Visual Equipment (i.e. overhead projectors, slide projectors, boombox,
video cameras, etc.) is available for school purposes. Students can make an
appointment to use the production equipment. Please make appointments and
reservations with at least one week notice in the Technology Office room 405.
