Welcome to the 2011 AAF Charlotte ADDY Awards! Tonight, a group of talented and dedicated members of our creative community will, once again,
deliver an outstanding ADDY Award evening. Many within the advertising industry have said that our show rivals the best ADDY award programs
anywhere, including the AAF National ADDY Awards.This year, we’re thrilled to be able to host the ADDY awards at the beautiful, new Mint Museum –
a setting that could not be more apt to celebrate the creative talents of Charlotte’s best and brightest.
Special thanks to the incredibly artistic and vision-driven team from Luquire George Andrews for their creative leadership of this year’s show;
NASCAR Media Group and Hot Sake for tonight’s show production and sound design; and Total Event Productions for, once again, helping us pull it
off without a hitch. Behind the scenes, the incredibly patient, smart and witty sidekick, Kara Hollinger-Bulla, has kept my sanity level in check.
Kara’s commitment and resolve through yet another ADDY program is more admirable than anyone could imagine.
Furthermore, none of this could have happened without an amazing AAF Charlotte Board of Directors and team of volunteers who are listed in this
program. When you see these folks, please thank them for making this evening possible. It’s worth mentioning that every part of our
ADDY Award program execution ­– coordination of the ADDY entries, judges’ weekend, and the hundreds of details that brought us to this
evening – was achieved entirely by volunteers.
On this night, your undeniable talent, ingenuity, originality and inspirational ideas are on full display. Your artistic achievements bring national
exposure to this quaint Southern city, which in turn supports and keeps the advertising business thriving in Charlotte. AAF Charlotte takes to heart
its responsibility to protect our industry’s interests.The time, investment and efforts to deliver tonight’s ADDY Awards evening is our way of giving
back to the local ad community, and we are proud to be a part of your accomplishments.

Mike Watson, fine artist/painter of visceral figures and public speaker, believes in the power
of both verbal and nonverbal communication. Mike emceed the inaugural TEDx Charlotte event
in the Wells Fargo auditorium at Knight Theater. He was one of eleven local artists selected to
create a response art piece for the grand opening of the Mint Museum downtown.
Mike is also an educator of fashion marketing and design at The Art Institute of Charlotte,
lover of Nike SB™s, has been featured in the Charlotte Observer style section, and contributed
fashion articles to the Baltimore Sun, the Florida Ponte Vedra Beach Recorder, WBTV
Charlotte, and others.
Additionally, Mike was the featured speaker at the Mint Museum of Art, Charlotte, on Andy
Warhol and his iconic use of imagery. He is a winner of the SILO public works project awarded
by ASC and produced a fashion show at Toronto fashion week. Mike worked on the ASC creative
committee’s 10-year Charlotte arts plan, and has collaborated with Neiman Marcus on its
Fashion’s Night Out and Art and Fashion events.
In the past Mike has won national awards for visual merchandising and store design, has lead a
variety of creative and fashion-focused workshops and firmly believes that the happiness in his
life comes from his wife, vinyl records, yoga, and always asking the question WHY.

Matt McKay is a Creative Director at JWT in NYC
overseeing the Cadbury accounts; Stride gum,Trident
gum and Halls. Before JWT he spent 2.5 years at Merkley
and Partners, also in NY, working on Tic Tac, Mercedes
Benz and Arbys. Prior to his move East he was Creative
Director at RR Partners in Las Vegas, developing work
for the LVCVA “What happens here stays here,” Harrah’s
Entertainment and the Ultimate Fighting Championships.
Before that he spent seven years at Barkley Evergreen
and Partners in Kansas City running the Sonic Drive-In
account.There, he and his partner created the wildly
successful “Two Guys” campaign for the fast food chain.
That work produced avid fans, a few awards, and more
importantly, some crazy numbers for the client.
Jon Arnold is group creative director/art director for
Bohan Advertising in Nashville. Jon started his career at
TBWA/St. Louis in the production studio. His next gig was
as art director at CORE, a 12-person shop in St. Louis.
That agency was named a Top 10 creative agency in the
world in 1997, according to GRAPHIS magazine. While
there, he worked on Panera Bread, Epiphone guitars,
Quantum Fishing, Ford and The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
After 10 years in St. Louis, Jon thought he’d see what
all the fuss was about in North Carolina and ended up
in Winston-Salem at Mullen Advertising. As associate
creative director, he worked on Wachovia, MasterCraft
Boats,TJMaxx, CSX and Embark. In 2008, Jon joined Bohan
as group creative director, working on United Methodist
Communications, Ochsner Health System and Pigeon
Forge Tourism. Jon says his biggest claim to fame is that
he grew up in Coolville, Ohio. It’s real. Just Google it.
Justin Archer is a native of North Carolina and a graduate
of Atlanta College of Art and Design. He started his
career in video post-production at Brickhouse Editorial,
editing spots for TBS,TNT, Cartoon Network and Airwalk
Footwear. A few years later he transitioned into the
interactive arena at agencies such as Macquarium and
Rare Medium before joining Moxie Interactive eight
years ago as an Art Director. He currently holds the VP,
Group Creative Director position in Moxie Interactive’s
Los Angeles office. His client experience includes Publix,
Home Depot, Bellsouth, Wachovia, SunTrust, Verizon
Wireless, 20th Century Fox, NFL,TNT Sports, Cartoon
Network, and Jenny Craig, as well as ServiceMaster
brands including TruGreen. His interactive experience
includes corporate branding, website development,
interactive kiosk development, digital signage, video
production, interactive rich media ad units, and
interactive game development.
His work has been seen in Communication Arts,The One
Show, Kelly Print Awards, Radio Mercury Awards, Print
Regional Design, Ad Critic, Adweek and Ad Age.
