Two Notes Audio Engineering
The ultimate solution for recording guitars and basses
Who we are, what we do
Two Notes is first and foremost a team of music lovers who are all great admirers of musicians. We are
highly qualified engineers, technicians, and musicians, whose purpose is to facilitate the life of guitar
and bass players without infringing on their playing habits. Our mission consists in providing them with
studio-grade products that are specifically designed for the guitar and bass.
Created in 2008, Two Notes has acquired a reputation worldwide for innovation, excellence, and professionalism. 2009 saw the birth of the Torpedo VB-101 — first of an uncompromising series, and now
succeeded by the Torpedo Studio as the most advanced amp DI box in the world. Since 2012, the newer
Torpedo Live and C.A.B. have been meeting with consistent enthusiasm among musicians, accompanying
some of the greatest guitar and bass players on stage.
We are today pursuing our project with the same undiminished passion, to bring our customers a line of
products that will meet all their needs and expectations. It is with that idea in mind that we created in 2013
the new Torpedo Reload, specially designed to support the acclaimed Wall of Sound plug-in for guitarists’
greatest comfort in using their favorite amps.
Why Two Notes
Having the best simulation means nothing if it is not supported by perfect analog and digital design. The
Torpedo products meet all of today’s professional recording studio requirements, yet are characterized by
such user-friendliness as makes musicians appreciate them. Once your Torpedo is USB-connected to your
computer, enjoy regular updates and total distant-control of your product.
Two Notes focuses on the whole signal chain, from your amp or preamp output to the PA, monitor, headphones or mixer to guarantee you the very best performance possible.
The notion of high-quality design à la française is something we hold dear, and we make a point of maintaining total control of the entire manufacturing process of our
products. The whole Torpedo series is thus manufactured in the
South of France by the most skilled technicians and designers.
Guitar and bass players deserve studio-quality gear!
“What we want is for guitar and bass players to get the best out
of the gear they love, anytime, anywhere.”
Guillaume Pille, PhD.
President & CEO of OROSYS - Two Notes Audio Engineering
Aiming at the best tone?
The Torpedo series is the missing link between your actual
amp/preamp and your DAW or PA
The Torpedo series are standalone units that you can bring with you in any kind of situation, whenever
silent playing is required, to replace the following elements in a traditional guitar or bass setup:
• the guitar/bass power amplifier
• the speaker cabinet
• the microphone
• the microphone preamplifier
We kill noise and achieve silent recording of real amps/preamps, with a signal
that remains perfectly faithful to any regular, professional miking in a studio
environment.
“Use your head” for professional miking
You love the sound of your amplifier but playing it may imply certain problems (noise, weight...). We bring
you the possibility to get the best out of YOUR gear in the simplest way.

What about line-level sources?
If instead of an amplifier you wish to use a preamp or stompbox, connect it to your Torpedo VB-101, Live
or C.A.B., which all embed our tube-stage modeling. Simply choose an amp’s design and characteristics,
and choose the tube that will color your sound: EL34, EL84, 6L6 or KT88.

The Two Notes technology: for musicians’ greatest comfort
The Torpedo series is the result of years of technical research, and of paying attention to the needs of guitarists, bassists, and sound technicians when they face the challenging task of miking instrument amplifiers
on stage or in the studio.
Many musicians are more comfortable with their analog amplifiers and effects pedals than with digital
modeling systems, yet the causes for pressure are many: lack of time, limited gear availability, loud amplifiers they cannot play at desired volume, or bulky and heavy cabinets to carry...
Our purpose is to provide those musicians with products that are easy to use, reliable, versatile, and
above all that deliver absolutely perfect audio quality.
The critically acclaimed Torpedo series
The Torpedo series offers a “virtual” alternative to traditional miking which achieves a degree of realism
never before experienced with a simulator. Guitar and bass players simply plug the Torpedo in place of
their cabinets, at the speaker output of the amplifier, with no need to modify their usual settings.
Two Notes has adapted convolution reverb into a new,
unique technology. Starting with the measurement of an actual
cabinet & microphone setup, the Torpedo will reproduce the
system exactly as it was measured, including speaker distortion
(Overload)* and phase effects (Variphi)*, as well as the microphone’s position in space, by using IR synthesis + advanced
non-linear modeling techniques.
Convolution is a common technique that
uses Impulse Responses (IR) to simulate
the behavior of specific systems, such
as reverbs, speakers, EQ, etc., and is
particularly well suited for speaker &
miking simulation.
On top of this, our state-of-the-art audio design guarantees perfect analog-to-digital conversion and a
huge dynamic range for your ultimate playing experience.
Every step of the way, Two Notes Audio Engineering implements its expertise to offer the most advanced
simulations on the market and ensure total realism for both musician (playing sensations) and listener
(sound quality).
Enjoy outstanding, versatile equipment
Each product has been thoroughly tested in studio and stage environments and will give you the elusive
sound of the greatest recording studios and producers, anytime, anywhere.
Two Notes’s extensive library of
virtual cabinets and microphones is a selection from
among the most commonly used
models in the world. Choose
a cab and a mic, and take the
seat of the sound engineer in a
professional studio.
The free Torpedo BlendIR software allows you to capture your
own cabinet + microphone setup
and embed its specific sound
signature into the Torpedo.
Use the free Torpedo Remote
software to embed IRs you have
obtained from other developers,
in WAV or AIFF formats. Remote
also gives you access to the Two
Notes store (Boutique), to browse
its library of cabinets.
* Torpedo Studio and WoS plug-in only
When recording your guitar or bass rig, many parameters are crucial to the quality of your soundtake
— e.g., carefully selecting your speaker cab, or using thorough miking technique.
The exclusive Two Notes cabinet and microphone measurement technology makes it all easier and
more consistent for you, by allowing you to position the mic in your virtual studio, and reproduding
down to the tiniest variations of a cabinet’s behavior in terms of frequency response and distortion.
Torpedo Studio
The world’s most advanced digital loadbox
The next generation of world-acclaimed VB-101, this is the absolute top in speaker
and miking simulation — the ultimate digital loadbox!
The Torpedo Studio embeds a unique switchable reactive or resistive, multi-impedance loadbox. And 2
processing channels to get the best out of your amp.
Integrated 150W RMS loadbox with active heat control
Resistive or reactive loadbox, with choice or impedance: 4, 8, or 16 Ohms
Cab+mic simulation powered by Torpedo technology
50 speaker cabinets, 8 microphones, 8 power amplifiers
96 kHz / 32-bit float signal processing
3rd-party IR compatible
Effects: low cut, 5-band EQ, exciter, compressor
Professional set of I/Os: Amp In, Speaker Out, Line
Analog, Digital (SPDIF, AES/EBU), Wordclock, MIDI,
USB remote control
Exclusive Studio technology:
Dual mono/stereo miking: combined simulation of 2 cabs + 2
mics for optimal mixing.
Position two different mics before your speaker, or before two
different speakers! Mix the two simulations to send them to the two
stereo outs.
Post-FX section: When recording guitars or basses it is common
to apply a few effects to shape the sound before it is sent to a PA
or recorder. The Studio comes with a simple but efficient EQ filter,
a 1-band Exciter, a studio Compressor, and a Spatializer that is
particularly useful when playing with headphones.
When you are using your Torpedo with a preamplifier or some pedals, do not miss a power amplifier’s
contribution to the overall sonic texture. The Two Notes original tube-stage modeling offers you 4 different
tube models in Push-Pull (PP) in class AB, or Single Ended (SE) in class A configurations. Push them just as
you do conventional amplifiers to get that subtle and particular distortion actual amps produce.
Just as well, the Torpedo can be used as a super-DI for keyboards, as the power-amp emulation will nicely
warm up the sound of a synthesizer, organ, or digital piano.
Torpedo Reload
Guitar connectivity... perfected!
The Reload is the ideal combination of the devices you must have in a modern
studio for the recording of electric guitars and basses.
A power attenuator, a multi-impedance loadbox, a DI and re-amplifying (REPLAYTM) box — it does it all
and does it perfectly too. The Two Notes philosophy stands in one word, transparency. The tone must
come from your guitar, your amp and cabinet — not from the electronics that we put between your regular
setup.
RE-ACTTM - Reactive Active Attenuator
4-, 8-, 16-Ohm, real speaker impedance
150W RMS loadbox with active heat control
Hi-Z DI box
REPLAYTM function
MATCHTM function, a Two Notes innovation
The result of years of research, the exclusive RE-ACTTM technology (Reactive-Active Attenuator) will tame
your amplifier without ever betraying it, by preserving its tone continuously throughout the attenuation
curve.
From 0dB attenuation to total silencing, you can nonetheless choose
between absolute transparency to more vintage or modern tone colMATCHTM
ouring with the CONTOUR.
One Setup to rule them all?
The Torpedo Reload is your re-amplifying device of choice. Plug
your guitar into the DI Input and send this signal to your recorder.
Two Notes preserves your guitar’s tone, so you can re-inject it into
your amp through the REPLAYTM. There, we bring you THE solution
to the problem of level adjustment when re-amplifying: the excluisve
MATCHTM function.
It’s sturdy, reliable, built to last; it will survive any
studio session or stage stress.
Inputs can handle both balanced and unbalanced signals. DI and
Loadbox outputs are electronically balanced, using low-noise,
low-distortion circuits so your tone will never be affected by any kind
of unwanted artefacts. The REPLAYTM output follows a low-impedance
unbalanced design to ensure the best conditions when sending the
signal to the amp.
A vital step when reamping,
MATCHTM compares the signal
as it comes from the guitar with
that which has been recorded,
in order to send the amp the
ideal level.
RE-ACTTM
Attenuators are known for
the negative impact on
the tone in cases of heavy
attenuation. The Reactive-Active
technology presents your amp
with a consistent speaker’s
impedance no matter what
level of attenuation you’re at,
thus preserving the specific
character of your amp.
Torpedo Live
