Michael Angelo Batio is one of the originators and
pioneers of the entire “shred guitar” genre. Batio
showcased guitar techniques and innovations for
the first time on his early instructional programs,
as well as in live performances, that are now
considered standard techniques among guitarists
around the world. Batio was voted the “No. 1
Shredder of All Time” by Guitar One magazine
in 2003 and was also listed as one of the “Top
100 Greatest Metal Guitarists of All Time” by
Guitar World magazine in 2008. Batio is famously
ambidextrous, enabling him to play two guitars at
the same time either in synchronization or using
separate harmonies. Batio is also the inventor and
was the world’s first player of the double-guitar.
