MPV 2010
The Chery Eastar 2.0L MPV became the “Best Local Assembly MPV” at the Asian-Auto-VCA
Auto Industry Awards 2010 recently. Such recognition carries special meaning, as it
acknowledges and salutes Eastar drivers who made it a bestseller since its launch.

Revealed At Modesto’s Pub & Bistro, KL
Riding on its growing popularity, the Eastar MPV’s latest variance was
unveiled by Chery earlier this year. Its upgraded features garnered
much fanfare and publicity at the trendsetting Modesto’s Pub &
Bistro (KL) on 29 April 2010.
Organised by Asian Auto, the awards focus on the real-world value of each vehicle in
our local price-sensitive market.
“This year’s judging has been an interesting experience as I am pleased to note that
some formerly quiet and less popular brands had come forward with exciting products for
Malaysian consumers. These brands have taken strong steps to move their ‘game’ up with
better built, better quality and increased driver dynamics to take higher sales positions,”
said Daniel Fernandez, Chief Editor of Asian Auto.
The characteristics of the Chery Eastar are meticulously
assembled for customers who are both family-oriented
and lifestyle seekers. It is the practical MPV for
customers that includes high-end features like the
advanced Chery ACTECO 2.0L DOHC engine to
provide more power, better fuel consumption,

For the 3rd consecutive year, VCA UK continues to support the Asian Auto Awards as the

presence in over 70 countries, drivers worldwide
have been won over by the smooth handling of
its 2.0 ACTECO engine and chassis fine-tuning
by Lotus. Conquering both concrete roads and
dirt trails, the Tiggo SUV is made for the

1st Export Ceremony at Chery PJ Service Centre
Chery Alado Automobile Sdn Bhd announced its first
export model, the Chery Eastar 2.0L MPV, after only two
years in Malaysia. The first expansion of each 50 units
abroad to Thailand and Indonesia is via their respective
leading car distributors, Thai Chery Yarnyon Co Ltd and
PT. Unicor Prima Motor (Indomobile Group).
There are currently 5 variants of Chery automobiles that
have been introduced into the Malaysian market. These
are the Eastar 2.4L MPV, Tiggo 1.6L SUV, Tiggo 2.0L SUV,
A520 Sedan and latest Eastar 2.0L MPV. In 2009, Chery
sold over 1800 vehicles; a 170% year-on-year increase
when compared to the year 2008. Such encouraging
results have placed Chery Malaysia’s sales outlook at
over 4000 units for the year 2010.
“We have invested a lot of money in
improving the quality of Chery vehicles
produced in Malaysia and this effort
has made our business partners in both
countries agree to import Chery products
assembled in Malaysia,” according to a
statement from Chery Alado Automobile
Sdn Bhd.

the launch, which was officiated by Y. Bhg.
Laksamana Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohd Anwar
HJ Mohd Nor (Chairman of Lembaga
Tabung Angkatan Tentera - LTAT) and
the Board of Directors.
Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) has become
a key partner for Chery Alado Automobiles Sdn Bhd,
with a substantial stake. This strategic partnership
strengthens Chery’s presence locally as LTAT has
controlling interest in a number of financial institutions
as well as a substantial involvement in the automotive
sector. When asked about who made the first move, it
was revealed that both parties were already mutually
interested in a partnership.

producing over 600,000 cars annually, and amongst
the fastest-growing car brands in the world.
