The Rough&Ready Productline
Streetlife is a design-driven company with a passion for creating innovative
design elements for public spaces. We create products that are natural in style
and use the landscape as our starting point.
Rough&Ready has a unique place within the Streetlife Collection and
incorporates the three themes of Street Furniture, Tree Products and
Bridges & Decking.
What makes the R&R product line unique?

In 2004, we introduced the first straight R&R bench with the Streetlock®
principle. Linked R&R benches made of FSC® recycled hardwood were provided

with a robust appearance, and create curving serpentine
formations through the landscape. The modules are
200 cm in length and can be linked together endlessly,
following the lines of the outdoor space.
The Curve Benches naturally accentuate the edges of
garden beds and walkways. The transverse positioning
of the wooden beams offers an effective way to deter
skaters!

Die R&R Kreisbänke wurden für die Verwendung
um majestätische Bäume entworfen. Jeder weiß,
dass das Verweilen unter einem großen, alten Baum
ausgesprochen entspannend ist. Die soliden Kreisbänke
schlagen zwei Fliegen mit einer Klappe: der Baum und
sein Wachstumsraum werden geschützt, und es entsteht

The R&R Circular Benches are designed to encircle
majestic trees, and everyone would agree that sitting
under a large, old tree is very pleasant indeed. The solid
circular benches have two purposes: the tree as well
as its growing space are protected, and the benches

De Rough&Ready 7 Banken in Nordic uitvoering zijn
ontwikkeld met name voor de koude klimaten van
Scandinavië en Canada, waar het in de winter vroeg
donker is. De jukdrager is in de lengterichting van
de bank geplaatst en uit gegalvaniseerd plaatstaal
vervaardigd. De jukdrager is eenvoudig te openen om het
juk op de ondergrond vast te monteren. In deze
drager is voldoende ruimte voor de lokale elektricien om
aansluitkasten aan te brengen, zowel voor de optionele
LED verlichting als voor de optionele warmte kabels.

für die kalten Klimazonen Skandinaviens und Kanadas
entwickelt, wo es im Winter bereits früh dunkel ist.
Die Gestellträger sind in der Längsrichtung der Bank
angeordnet und aus verzinktem Stahlblech gefertigt.
Zur Montage kann das Gestell einfach geöffnet werden.
Im Gestell gibt es genügend Platz für Elektoinstallation,
so dass LED Beleuchtung oder Wärmekabel problemlos
integriert werden können.

particulier pour les climats froids de la Scandinavie et du
Canada, avec leurs journées courtes en hiver. Le porteur
de support a été placé dans le sens de la longueur du
plan et a été réalisé en acier galvanisé. Le porteur de
support est facile à ouvrir pour fixer le support au sol.
Ce porteur offre suffisamment d’espace à l’électricien

The Nordic version of the Rough&Ready 7 Benches
has been developed especially for the cold climates of
Scandinavia and Canada, where in winter it gets dark
quite early. The support bearer is placed longitudinally
and is made of galvanised sheet steel. The bearer can be
easily opened to mount the support to the surface and
offers sufficient space for a local electrician to install
terminal boxes, both for the optional LED lighting and for
the optional heating cables.

combines well with other R&R products. The picnic table
top is made of FSC-100% hardwood beams (7x15 cm)
with a flat, integrated steel mid-section. Available in
various materials: CorTen steel, hot-dip, galvanised steel
or powder-coated in an RAL colour. Three lengths
are available: 234 cm, 300 cm and All Black 200 cm.

Design
Curve benches, Circular benches and Topseats
The R&R Circular benches are monumental and timeless. The benches protect both
the tree as well as the growing space. The R&R Circular benches are available in
various diameters: D300 cm (seat depth 40 cm / 16”), D400 cm (seat depth
50 cm / 20”) and D500, 600, 700 and 800 cm (seat depth 60 cm / 24”).
The transverse positioning of the timber beams not only results in
a beautiful repeating effect, it also provides protection against
damage caused by skaters. A natural Anti-Skate solution!
The low and high backrests (60 cm / 24” wide) are convexly planed
and offer a surprising level of comfort. The length of the higher
Royal Back is a multiple of 200 cm. As with the universal Streetlife
armrests and the backrests can be mounted at almost any position.
The supports made of 4 mm / 2/10 ” thick sheet metal are available
in hot-dip galvanized steel, CorTen steel or with powder coated
finish in RAL colours. The supports come with two holes
for easy anchoring to the ground surface.
The standard outer radius of the Curve
benches is approximately 800 cm / 315”.
For larger projects, it is possible to realise
bespoke radii (150 cm / 59” -> ∞ cm),
including a straight arrangement. The Curve
modules are 200 cm / 79” long and can be
linked together endlessly to create long,
winding serpentine configurations.
The preassembled R&R-Topseat
modules are approximately
200 cm / 79” long. They are
concealed mounted on a continual
substructure and are not selfsupporting. The three types of
backrests and the universal armrest
can be playfully fitted at almost any
position. The height of the Topseats,
including Streetlock® comb fittings,
is approximately 17 cm / 7”.
Big Green Benches, Carré Benches and straight benches
The CorTen or powder coated steel structure of the Big Green Benches is splendidly
detailed and constructed from 4 mm / 2/10” thick sheet metal. The Big Green Benches with
base structure are moveable and can optionally be fitted with fork lift provisions. Without
base structure, the Big Green Benches are suitable for mounting around existing trees
and require embedded installation.
The low and high R&R backrests of 154 cm / 61” have been convexly planed.
The universal Streetlife armrests in stainless steel can be fixed at various positions.
The R&R 6 and 10 benches can be linked endlessly to create an extra long bench.
The straight benches have a length of 234 or 300 cm / 92” or 118”. The versions
with All Black beams have different lengths of 200 and 275 cm / 79” and 108”.
Bench supports are available in hot-dip galvanized steel, CorTen steel or powder coated
finish in RAL colours.
The R&R 5, 6, 10 and Carré
benches are fitted with the
patented Streetlock® system.
The beams are not screwed,
but locked with a stainless
steel bar and theft-proof nuts.
This construction allows
the beams to be turned
over or easily replaced.
Very convenient in the event
of damage!
The Big Green Benches and R&R Carré benches have a
timeless character. They combine tree and growing space
protection with an attractive seating area. CorTen Tree
Grids around the tree prevent waste accumulation and
dehydration of the soil.

the Big Green Benches are
integrated in the steel
structure by means of the
Embedded Streetlock® fitting
system. This system allows
for invisible mounting of
the timber seat and easy
replacement.
Tree Planters and Treetec® Bottom Up System
The large R&R Basic Tree Tubs have a spacious internal construction, which is suitable
for the Treetec® Bottom Up system. Adequate insulation, root ball anchoring, oxygen
circulation around the root ball, irrigation with capillary columns and excess water
drainage are essential for proper tree development. The patented Treetec® system makes
all this possible. More information can be found in the Tree Tub Technology chapter
(pages 8B-9B) in the Streetlife Catalogue.
Tree Isles
The hardwood beams of the R&R sitting edge are integrated into the steel
construction by means of the Embedded Streetlock® fitting. The timber beams
are invisibly mounted and easy to replace. A minimum outer radius
of 300 cm / 118” is required to realize a sitting edge.
In the Streetlife Collection catalogue, a tree table
is included as an instigation for a careful tree
selection (pages 10B-11B). Multi-stemmed trees
provide a more interesting and fuller shrubbery.
Ground covering prevents waste accumulation in
the tree tubs and dehydration.
The CorTen or powder coated tree surrounds are available in modules
and positioned 10 to 15 cm / 4” to 6” below ground level.
Optionally, a small gutter of approximately 3 cm / 1” can be placed
between the pavement and the wall.
The low and high 60 cm / 24” wide backrests have been convexly planed.
The universal Streetlife armrest can be mounted at almost any position.
The length of the Royal Back modules is a multiple of 200 cm / 79”.
Large, partly sunken waste paper bins (120 litres) can be incorporated in
the Tree Isles.
In the Hug a Tub models, R&R sitting beams and a
convexly planed backrest are mounted to steel tree tubs.
It is advisable to include the Treetec® Bottom Up system
in these large Shrub tubs.
Bicycle parking and Bollards
Country Bridge with R&R fence
The R&R Bicycle stand is user friendly and unique in design.
The hardwood bar will not damage the bicycle. The hole in the steel
support is for fixing the bike with a chain lock.

bicycle bridges and decking materials in compliance with eurocode and local regulations.

With the R&R Inline parking system a more traditional and larger parking
facility for bicycles can be created. The modules can be connected to
long and robust R&R fences.
The Country Bridge is a flat bridge for bicycles and
pedestrians. Minimal in design with a maximum
span of 10 meters / 33 ft. The lower R&R

made of re-used synthetic material (old plastic bags, agricultural

This sustainable material requires no maintenance and has a coarse
texture. Ink and paint cannot penetrate the surface and will hardly
adhere. The black beams and stainless-steel theft-proof nuts give
Streetlife is certified by the FSC as a
‘Chain Of Custody’ (COC). This means
that the wood, or wood product,
is administratively tracked through every
stage of its processing and distribution.
The (end) user can rest assured that the
wood really does come from sustainably
managed forests and has been
processed by companies that subscribe
to the FSC’s norms and values. Streetlife
is certified for 3 variants: FSC-100% (all
the wood from an FSC-approved source),
FSC-Mix (partly from an FSC-approved
source) and FSC-Recycled (wood that is

tradition of using black coloured street furniture.
The black material is a compound of
re-used synthetic materials (PE and PP).
They remain black due to the
UV-stabilization process they have
undergone. They have been categorized
as Fire Class 3 according to NEN 6065.
No maintenance is needed. The material
does not discolour, is extremely durable
and is extremely environment-friendly
(no additives except black soot).
Some air inclusions at the beam ends
are unavoidable. The R&R-benches
All Black are available in lengths of
200 cm and 275 cm.
The R&R product range has an
unprecedented coherence that stems
from the use of just one modular wood
size (7x15 cm). Streetlife uses FSC-100%
hardwood for its products, which is ideal
due to its inherent density, hardness and
lifespan.
In 1993, the Forest Stewardship Council was founded.
This is an international network for promoting responsible forest
management. FSC sets an international standard for good forest
management and has a seal of approval associated with this
standard. The FSC seal of approval provides assurance that the raw
materials in wood and paper products have come from sustainably
managed forests where attention is given to the ecological,
social and economic aspects (such as working
conditions and fair wages for local workers) and bio-diversity is
effectively protected. FSC is therefore not a government seal of
approval. FSC is an important instrument in combatting illegal
felling and deforestation. The seal of approval demonstrates
that a company is conforming to the guidelines of the Forest
Stewardship Council and that its policy is approved.
